“Good food. Pleasantly out of the way - horses in a field outside our window.”
Daniel,
Oxford
Abbeyfield Hotel is located off the A5 on the edge of Bangor in an area of natural beauty. Each bedroom has a private bathroom, digital TV and free wireless internet. The hotel is convenient for the mountains, lakes and forests of Snowdonia National Park, as well as Gwynedd's dramatic coastline. There is a public bar and a small, cozy restaurant serving very good British food, using local Welsh produce where possible. Over the years Abbeyfield Hotel has been a coaching inn, a farmhouse, and since 1968, a private hotel. Hotel Rooms: 11 Most recent booking for this hotel was yesterday at 06:13 from United Kingdom.

The food was good Our room was over the bar, really rowdy at first but the offenders left shortly after we arrived. Bedding was way past replacement age.

Unfortunatly i would not recommend the Abbeyfield Hotel for holiday makers, it was not as expected. The rooms were in desperate need of modernisation, our bed was the old type of spring matress giving no support, there was black mould in the shower, and the room was cold most of the time. There were tea making facilities on day one we had two cups of tea in our rooms each, but on the second day we discovered the small cups had been replaced with the smallest cups you could imagine and there was alot less tea, sugar, and milk left out.The staff did nothing to make us feel welcome, they were only as polite as they had to be and often a welcoming smile from them was something of a task. The Abbeyfield has a regular stream of contractors staying there which keeps them going throughout the year, the facilities are very basic and would suit contractors, students and backpackers but not a holiday maker used to staying in a hotel especially the over 50's. Fortunatly we were booked into another hotel for 3 nights in Llandudno The Manor Hotel, it was lovelly there in comparrison. We are sorry to give bad feedback our experience at the Abbeyfield was not nice. We found in Llandudno that most of the hotels on the sea front gave a much higher standard of accommadation and service.

It is a good business stopover, and I noticed that most of the guests were travelling salesmen or workmen. The bar area and the food is a bit basic but wholesome--in fact too much for most appetites--definitely not gourmet !! Excellent breakfast with attentive service. The Hotel is quite basic overall and is next to a main railway line, which you hear most of the night. I would not particularly like to take my family there, as it gives the impression of being somewhat rough and ready--as i said --good stopover at a reasonable price.

It is located in a beautiful place. The staff were friendly and the food good. We also liked the fact that it included breakfast. The walls were really thin... We could hear the neighbours in their business. The furniture looks a bit tired.

Location good road connections. Quiet apart from being right beside the main North Wales Coastal Railway line. Family run style... relaxed Creaking floor boards. Doors with no "cushion" supportive closing.. Every one that came to the 1st floor bedrooms, slammed the doors!

Clean room, friendly staff and the best Beef n Ale pie ever, it could feed a faimly of 4! Only one thing on our room it had a fixed shower head, I prefer one that goes up n down, but not a problem as I wore the shower cap

Comfortable beds and a reasonable breakfast. The bar had a good selection of beers and an extensive food menu. We had a family room that consisted of a double bed and a single. The room was better suited as a double rather than a family room; to accommodate the extra single bed the double had to be pushed up against the outside wall. Too much of a squeeze in a room of that size. The floors were very creaky and the shower could have benefited for a scrub hence the 'fair' mark on cleanliness. Otherwise it would have been 'Good'

Good food. Pleasantly out of the way - horses in a field outside our window. Room curtains were too thin and didn't stop the glow of the streetlights. No wireless (I didn't ask, about it, but no networks were visible).

The breakfast. Very dated, lot of woodchip. You could everything going on around the place, like the bar, people talking in the rooms next door, doors slamming. They took the payment on my card I used for securing the reservation without even asking.

“I have stayed at this hotel about three times this year and each time the experience is a good one, the staff are pleasant, the position on the Menai offers breathtaking views, especially from the breakfast room and coffee lounge and the food in the resteraunt superb. The location is central and the price extremely competitive. The rooms offer functional spaces with comfort and some of the rooms very spacious. Overall a lovely experience.” Maria, Ton Pentre |
