Comfortable, nicely decorated bedrooms. Quiet. Helpful staff. Easy access. Nice location. Cooked breakfast very good. Lovely garden areas to sit in. Dining room tatty - needs redecorating and some corridors. Nice view from bedroom window spoiled by scattered refuse from uncovered bins. Continental breakfast poor selection.

Excellent hotel & facilities, gorgeous & comfy bedroom and bathroom, kind staff, the breakfast room (and the breakfast itself) was also very good, would recommend anybody to stay here and would stay again if in the area, the gardens are also lovely, the hotel is located in a very quiet area. In the bedroom, we noticed about 20 semi-dead flies spread out on the window sill, we called reception, a guy came up and said the flies had been trapped inside after the windows were closed, he offered us to move into another bedroom, we decided to stay anyway, it was unpleasant but we decided not to make too much fuss about it.

A fabulous experience! Fascinating old buliding with up-to-the- minute bedrooms. We were given The Orchard bedroom which was fantastic and made us feel very special. The staff were extremely pleasant, helpful and friendly without being fawning - excellent customer care. The food in the dining room was beautifully prepared and served at a very reasonable price. Lovely grounds, too, leading down to Furness Abbey. We will be back! Our only negative comment was that the price of wine in the restaurant was far too expensive. A bottle would have practically doubled our bill. We noticed only one table in a reasonably full dining room had ordered wine, so we can't be the only ones to think that a few bottles of house wine wouldn't go amiss!

As a couple wanting to spend two nights away we felt that it was excellent value for money as we got it at a discounted rate. From the moment we checked in the staff where helpful and polite, the room was lovely and we were in the new part of the building but it didnt affect our stay. We had a view of fields and trees. The breakfast was all you could want with a range of cooked and continental opitions. The grounds are lovely and its a good location for a range of attractions and local ammenties. The best thing is when you drive up and see the building which is stunning and then you walk into a log fire burning away. Also the bar was relaxing to sit and have a drink in and the food was medium priced within the bar and really good. I would recommend it and would like to go back agin.
