The grounds and everything about the general appearance and presentation of all the facilities. The reception staff were very pleasant and friendly
Attention to detail in the restaurant area.
Have to say I was very impressed with this hotel. From the minute you turn in to the drive you know you've paid for a quality place. Very friendly staff on checking in Lovely room with al the comforts you'd expect at this price. Went to oscars bar for drink an food. Both very reasonable prices for a hotel. Only downside there was the female maitre d!!! Bit of an attitude!! The only thing that would make this hotel even better would be a gym and pool Highly recommend and will be returning soon
The location was brilliant the scenery was beautiful, the staff couldn't do enough for you
I stayed recently and the food was not quite up to the quality if the surroundings but this time the food was excellent.
Beautifully appointed room. Beautiful hotel. The restaurant food was good but the menu was more 'pub food' which I did not expect and the cooked breakfast could have been fresher.
Room 127 stunning bathroom. Bedroom spacious, clean with double aspect windows letting in plenty of light. Secondary glazing sympathetic to original leaded windows. Super King size bed exceptionally comfortable. Great night's sleep.
Our Evening meal was not of the same standard as the accommodation. Blackpudding Starter was very disappointing. Made into a deep fried croquette which was bland, soggy with a texture like pureed baby food. Pity as the rest of the meal was of a pretty reasonable standard. Starter was however removed from the bill.
i didnt like my bed, wasnt comfortale
Hotel very accommodating to our needs and excellent value for money. Room was great.
Due to a function being held with music we didn't get a good nights sleep
Stunning hotel in great location,(nr Abbey), helpfull & friendly staff
Bedroom (103) in an extension over a wedding disco
The hotel is very nice and the rooms are well worth the money, the restaurant serves great food for breakfast and evening meals, for a reasonable price. Would highly recommend, only gripe is that the walls are very thin and we could hear the couple next door when they were talking loud/had the TV on. There were also 5 weddings over the 3 days we were there and although we could hear the music I can say it didn't break my sleep.

Weddings, cold breakfast
The Hotel itself was stunning, the furnishings inside such as the chairs and light fittings where gorgeous. The woman at the desk was lovely, the bar and breakfast staff was really polite and helpful. Great atmosphere and even though there was a wedding on this did not disturb our stay at all. Breakfast was also really nice and great quality and the wine i drank on the evening was really great quality, even though it was expensive. £80 for the night was a great price.
It would be great if the hotel had a hairdryer in the room like some hotels do. Also I was disappointed as i expected a bath tub like on the pictures but i think this was because we was in the annex and not in one of the rooms in the main building. also hairs in the sink but i easily washed those out.
Outside of the building was very nice, most off the staff was very pleasant.
One off receptionist was very rude with us.. We order some food which came 1,5 hour time. We order some starters which were forgotten. We order stakes which half off them were very dry and not edible.
Position within walking distance of Furness Abbey and reasonably close to major Lake District centres. Comfortable rooms and excellent restaurant with a good menu. Beautifully prepared delicious food. Lots of parking. Excellent brekfast menu when there are fewer guests.
Superb breakfast menu, with lots of veggie choice, except when there are weddings. If the guest numbers reach a certain peak, then the breakfast reverts to buffet style with few veggie choices. This happened twice during our three day stay - admittedly over Bank Holiday weekend.
Im not fussy, however the rooms are pretty small as well as the beds for two people. Good bathroom and hotel grounds. Staff do not make any effort at all to make your stay special at all.
Set in stunning grounds with views to die for
Unfortunately the rooms were too hot and the bed we had was very uncomfortable, far too soft.
The building itself is stunning, staff friendly and professional. Reception area welcoming and modern, all decor compliments the building. We were really impressed by our room which was beautifully decorated and had a real luxurious feel. The bed was very comfortable bed, excellent facilities in room and really lovely modern bathroom.I cannot fault this hotel the dining area, bar and gardens at rear all lovely.Food really nice in general. l I would be happy to recommend this hotel. It compared very favorably to other boutique style hotels that I have stayed at ,at half the price.I will be booking again.
Only slight niggle was with some of the food.In general was very good however, I ordered ribs and unfortunately they were too tough to eat.The following morning my Breakfast of eggs Florentine, was disappointing as the spinach was gritty. I did not complain as there were plenty other options and I ate delicious croissants from the buffet and my partners was lovely.
Great interior decor and it really is a fantastic wedding venue and they are well set up for that. The room was a good size with a very modern bathroom. This was well suited for us touring the area. John the DM was most helpful in giving us tips on places to visit. This was due to the fact that their internet cannot cope with so many users.
The whole thing was spoilt by the fact that the restaurant was not available for guests. Mind you when it is good the locals will use it. With very few restaurants in the area (Lots of Pub food places) they do have a captive audience. Thanks to John the Deputy Manager he solved the problem but it took some doing. The Staff are young and a little inexperienced in service but they with time they will come good.
Could not fault this establishment very good all round
I loved everything, they was nothing to grumble about. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely do it again. The staff are so polite and helpful.
very friendly staff beautiful grounds and building excellent food in restaurant very comfortable beds and lovely aspect from the room had all what we wanted would definitely recommend this hotel
could of done with some hooks or similar on which to hang the towels in the bathroom
Ambience. I am a Lutyens fan so it is nice to stay in one of his buildings. The refurbishment was good - mixed the original and new very well. The food was very good, and there was an interesting wine list
Inexperienced bar tender who didn't know how to mix the drinks on the list. Also, front of house staff showed their lack of experience/system for looking after tables.
The house and grounds were beautiful and we enjoyed walking down to the Abbey. We loved the breakfast. There was plenty of room to store things.
The noise from the events and from Oscars. We didn't mind it on Fri and Sat night but it was also Sun night and the mornings. I think we heard it all because we were near the lifts and there are no doors to prevent the noise from travelling.
