Under floor heating in bathroom, large well decorated room, with modern facilities. Attentive staff. An overal fabulous stay
controlling the heat in the room seemed impossible One problem was a wet patch by the door under the radiator
Bathroom was fantastic.
The heating was not on so the bathroom was cold.
The only negTive comment is that the shower was lukewarm any time of day
Everything about our stay was perfect
the hotel and grounds were beautiful and quiet and perfect for our weekend break
Everything but the food
Food was cheap and nasty.
We had a party below our room we complained and they moved us to a better room away from the hotel they lady and gentleman couldn't do enough for me and my partner !
Not been told about the wedding going on and the food was very poor breakfast not nice at all!
wow, where to start? hmmmmn..... Do i start with the gorgeous shower facitlites, or the gorgeous decoration of our shower room with the heda in the ceiling? Do I even mention the huge television at the end of the room mounted high up so we could watch from the bed? Do I even begin to praise the breakfast with the creamy delicious porridge or the fry with the most wonderful ( I am assured by my gf!) mushrooms or the delightful tomatoes and sausages that were not 99p per tonne special offers! Do I mention that they talked to my gf in her chair and not to me to tell her of things they had to say>> Definitely coming back and to wonder the beautiful grounds and see the complete works of a certain Salford based artist, the floweres hidden everywhere, the gorgesou red stone building, the staff with a sense of humour, courage and sheer happiness. Thank you for our stay (The couple whose gf fed the tigers in the zoo the following day!!! :-}) Mick.
Nothing!! Amazing isnt it But its not too good to be true!!
Check in was quick and easy, reception staff were very welcoming and helpful. Our room was lovely, comfy bed, large tv, wonderful shower. Both bedroom and bathroom recently refurbished to a very high standard as was the rest if the hotel. Booked a table in Oscars for dinner it was superb, lovely presented, good sized portions and delicious. Very reasonably priced. Staff in the restaurant were excellent, it was a Saturday night and they were extremely busy but took our orders and served our meals with big friendly smiles and professional efficiency. It was our first visit and we can't wait to return. Thank you team Abbey House, very well done.
Our stay was too short.
The complimentary Wifi was great as was the Breakfast which was composed of the highest quality ingredients and products. The Cleanliness was a asset as was the beautiful decor. The Location is perfect and is wonderfully isolated. At the back of the hotel path Furness Abbey is located. I must mention the Creme Brûlée which was simply sensational. I have never had a dessert as delicious! Thank you.
Occasionally service slipped in dining room. Asked for sauces that didn't arrive but feel picky saying this as we enjoyed our stay very much. When we arrived the room was excessively warm without heating on but this was a warm day in October?
Location, hotel decor, food and great staff
The bedroom door slams hard and is noisy
Location, pleasant staff, great food
Long wait for the meal in restaurant
Staff were very helpful room was clean bed was very comfy! Abby house was situated in a good place so could travel too places with ease and back on a whole me and my partner enjoyed are stay here and would go back in the near future!!
There was nothing for us not too like was a great place!
Great looking building Stylish Good setting Quiet Great breakfast
A few basics missing in the room: - No extractor in bathroom - No mini bar - no robe - minimal toiletries Lighting in bar too bright Oh an dont expect the free standing bath unless you go for a suite
We upgraded to an deluxe room and it was 5*. From the newly decorated bathroom with walk in shower and separate luxury bath, to the quality of the bedroom. The grounds of the hotel made for wonderful morning walks.
The room was too hot. The room had underfloor heating which was difficulty to switch off and the old style windows did not all open. In the end we switched off the heating system at the spur socket which cooled the room down a little bit.
just a shame it didnt have leisure facilities such as pool, gym etc.
Breakfast was only good
Green well kept open spaces Lovely staff Excellent breakfast Location
The grounds and everything about the general appearance and presentation of all the facilities. The reception staff were very pleasant and friendly
Attention to detail in the restaurant area.
Have to say I was very impressed with this hotel. From the minute you turn in to the drive you know you've paid for a quality place. Very friendly staff on checking in Lovely room with al the comforts you'd expect at this price. Went to oscars bar for drink an food. Both very reasonable prices for a hotel. Only downside there was the female maitre d!!! Bit of an attitude!! The only thing that would make this hotel even better would be a gym and pool Highly recommend and will be returning soon
Staff were great - we were directly above a wedding reception and when we returned to our room in the evening it was so loud that the light fixtures were vibrating etc- we asked if we could move and they offered us another room without question - much quieter. Can't grumble when they were so helpful to help. Menu for breakfast was great. Lovely grounds. Comfy rooms
Shower in new room was nice but overflowed and leaked on to reception - Being placed above a wedding disco - recommend limiting the noise or not putting non wedding guests in this wing of the hotel. Spinach on my egg florentine was gritty, ha ha! but other than that breakfast was excellent-
The location was brilliant the scenery was beautiful, the staff couldn't do enough for you
Upgraded to lovely room, food excellent, very enjoyable stay,
Was not aware that dogs were allowed at the hotel and we were disturbed by the constant barking, for at least half an hour, of a dog which had obviously been left in the room alone at night.
Hotel and location very good. Thoroughly enjoyed, unexpectedly, visiting the ruins of the Abbey because of the poor signage.
We stayed in the Lutyens Room. Unfortunately, the water was cold when I had a bath at 7pm on Saturday evening and also when I bathed at 8am on Sunday morning. Although, when my husband bathed at 7.45pm on Saturday, the water was hot! It's impossible to find out if the shower is hot without getting drenched in water as there is no opening near the taps. Also, we couldn't find a socket for an electric shaver or toothbrush in the Lutyens bathroom. The last thing is that the bottom half of the hotel sign positioned outside the hotel is invisible when approaching from the Ulveston, so took the first exit leading to the ruins of the Abbey. When investigating this further to see why we had taken the wrong road, we realised why. Also it said the exit was 200 yards, whereas it was about 50 yards.
I stayed recently and the food was not quite up to the quality if the surroundings but this time the food was excellent.
