the hotel room was very dated as the hotel itself. the room we had had a pipe for heating which remained on full all night, even though it should have gone off at 9pm.
Cost Swimming pool Garden and house Being able to book breakfast separately so we didn't have to have it every day Coffee making facilities in room toiletries provided
Pipes rather noisy, room a bit hot but we could open the window Nothing else really
Excellent value for money, basic accommodation that we will visit again with our young family.
Can't say anything bad about my stay!!
swimming pool available. Immediate repair of light that was not working.Help by staff to get TV workingincommonroom. Refund of money for unused part of 4night booking which I had tochange to 2 nights.
Distance from car park to room. No TV in room. Bath towels really small. Awkward position of sink in corner of room
location and setting was lovely, convenient for the lakes
no shower , no kettle in room on arrival , breakfast was poor , trays empty , long wait for re-fills , creaky floors , odd bathroom , not even a shower head to wash your hair, no bar !!!
The location and pool were excellent
We booked a twin / double room only to find we would be charged extra if we wanted a double despite checking in early. The room was extreemely tiny in an outside annex with paper thin walls and consequently lots of noise from adjacent rooms. It seemed a good price initially however we were very dissapointed and wont be going back.
The breakfast was good ,was not able to eat with just me and my wife, had to sit with 6 other people at the same table, a choice of where you sit would have been nice as their were plenty of other tables available
Hotel bar a joke, its back of reception, uninviting atmosphere, poor standards
I arrived very late (almost midnight) after finishing work in Bowness. I was struck by the slightly spooky atmosphere of the hotel grounds as I approached, but the proprietor was still up (just!) and very understanding. Good buffet breakfast at large communal tables - I joined a delightful group of elderly holiday-makers.
My room was in "The Bungalow", which is a separate building from the main hotel and is much in need of renovation. No air conditioning and a very large heating pipe didn't make for a particularly good night's sleep.
use of a nice pool and the hotel is in a good location.
not really a criticism, but the accom in the annex we were in reminded me of a military barrack block. 1 toilet & shower for 8 rooms in our wing not really sufficient in my opinion, but for the money it's ok
Breakfast was superb. Swimming pool excellent. Pleasant, helpful, friendly staff. Quietness at night. Nearness of railway station.
Would have preferred a few smaller tables for dining. The food was cleared away promptly at 9.00am - we had assumed that the breakfast times of 8.00 - 9.00 implied times of starting the meal.
Good value for money. Pleasant location, excellent staff, good value breakfast, friendliness of other guests [as you'd expect from a Christian Guild Hotel].
No lift. Minor beefs include squeaky toilet door and no armchair or case stand in bedroom.
Good location, very good swimming pool
No T.V. in room very, very basic rooms, shared toilets and shower. Walls very very thin can hear everthing.
The location is handy for visiting the lake district the grounds are clean and tidy and quite there is ample parking
Rooms are dated, poorly decorated, and furnished, access to some of the rooms is poor there is exposed hot pipework in some locations carpets are shabby, breakfast was really poor being greasy, with items under cooked, over cooked or cold, no provision for vegetarians even though requested
Lodge itself very nice and relaxing and its size is fantastic. There are 2 pools. Kitchen facilities. Staff is friendly.
Cleanliness of the lodge: lots of dust on the wooden walls and spider webs are everywhere.
The swimming pool was a good size and well maintained. The buildings were attractive, the bungalow we stayed in, was dated but ckean. The
The bungalows are paper thin, well sounded it at night time.
The rooms are in need of a update, paint carpet curtains etc. a freshen up .
Tea and coffee For what we paid it was good, but the description and pictured it was not what we expected. We had fun though.
Wifi wasn't available in the room. When you get back from a big hike and the pub, you wanna be able to stream a nice film in bed, but this wasn't available. They directed us elsewhere for food, as a conference was on in the hotel. It generally felt understaffed.
Nothing much, with the exception of the seasonal breakfast staff, who were pleasant and helpful.
First, the poor level of cleanliness: old, thick, dust-covered cobwebs in corridors, doorframes, etc.; black mould and bad smell in shower bowl, dirty floors, etc. No action was taken, despite our complaint. Then, plenty of poorly organised receptionists, quarter doors locked at night with no prior advise (one helpful member of breakfast staff having to wait outside late at night, to let us in). No small diner tables, all tables sitting 6-8 persons and hence forced to share. Peculiar breakfast menus, choices on the right and prayers on the left, we were not amused.
Location was lovely, some staff very helpful.
Unable to request double room on web site, had to rearrange furniture to make a double bed. Beds needed replacing very noisy plumbing very noisy, if someoneelse flushed the toilet you could here it in our room.... No staff on duty at night, my father in law and a couple of other residents where locked out of the communal door for single occupancy rooms by another resident and he had to climb through one of their room windows that they keft open to get in. We tried to find a member of staff and even tried the oncall phone, no body on duty.. This is unacceptable, someone should be on duty for any issues that may occur, especially in an emergency. There where families there, if emergency help was needed it is not appropriate for a stranger to the area to try and get help!!
great value for money. Amazing customer service. Beautiful swimming pool! fantastic location
bad signal wifi
I LIKE THE STAFF SERVICE , THE HOTEL BUILDING AND LOCATION
THE NOISE MAKE FOR MANY CHILDRENS WAS PLAYING IN TO THE HOTEL HALL
Welcome pack of drinks lasted full stay, very clean easy parking. Staff very friendly. Pool clean tidy and temp just right !
Very friendly and helpful
Quite noisy early morning as the walls are thin
