Value for money we all had a lovely time. The window in lodge three was broken but staff were told and said would fix ASAP. Swimming pool was on the cold side!
Friendly staff and very helpful
We got an upgrade when we got there and reception were very helpful.
The politeness of the staff very helpful the the facilities they had on site just a great place to stay
Mattress was hard difficult to find reception on a night should be more signs to point to the reception from the car park apart from that it's was excellent
I thought it was really not very clean at all. Especially the shared bathroom situation was unbearable. I can't talk for the regular rooms, but I would definitely never book a room with shared bathrooms there again.
Everything was exactly as we expected good clean cabin with everything you would need laid on no need to bring any basics down to kitchen rolls and washing up liquid. We used nothing that we brought with us know for next time we visit
Poor phone connection but expected that In this part of country not hotels fault but maybe wifi could be added to cabins.
Staff were not very welcoming, did not get a good morning from any staff, accomodation very basic. Shared bathroom would be ok if the bathrooms were modernised. An electric shower would be a start. i am a frequent visitor to this part of the world but I dont think i'll be back to this hotel.
We were renting the lodge. Was a very practical. Very clean but need updating. Good location . Friendly staff. Kitchen was well equipped. Good value for money. Will Stay there again.
Best ever full English breakfast in a hotel. Location to railway station.
No hot water in my shower.
Excellent welcome from staff who had noted I would be late and had arranged sandwiches for me. Good breakfast, again with welcoming staff. I paid a reduced price, so good value for money. Had I paid full price, it would have been different. Bed very comfortable and water hot (very!). Own toilet, basin and show in room. Wonderful location, shame I didn't have time to go for a walk!
Room size tiny (as in think corridor!) I was in 'The Groom's cottage' which seemed to have at least 4 rooms crammed in. Walls very thin so slightest sound from next door was very loud. Their bathroom next to my bedhead, so not a great night's sleep! Bed right against radiator, so I sweltered. although sheets and room generally very clean, bathroom had cobwebs missed under sink. Decor VERY tired and large crack in wall about toilet door. Rest of hotel a bit 'faded'. Shower was metal box in alcove in the room itself! However separate toilet and sink, which is rare for a small single. Car park quite a walk from the hotel, which, in the dark, wasn't good carrying a case.
Brilliant location, very peaceful
All very tired and run down but was less than half the price of next nearest option so, you pays your money and you takes your choice!
Pool Staff Grounds Price
I have stayed here 3 times now and the rooms vary greatly. First time The room wasn't great, Second time the room was really nice and this time there wasn't even a TV! The price varies slightly each time and it appears that the cheapest stay gave the nicest room. Go figure!
Extremely pleasant staff
Me and my husband have stayed here twice. people have given harsh reviews on here about the bungalows, but quite frankly for £25 per night what do you expect? we have stayed twice in two different rooms, yes they are chintzy but they have on both occasions been very clean and nice and cozy. If you are walkers like ourselves this is ideal as it is a good base for the hills and somewhere to get your head down at night without paying extortionate prices to do so and it is better and cheaper that a room in the YHA's . I couldn't fault the staff on both occasions either, really helpful and friendly. We will definitely be back.
Value for money Friendly Staff Swimming Pool Great evening menu
Great location the lodge was really comfortable everything there you need , can't wait to go again .
So welcoming and friendly. lovely location. fantastic price lovely big lounge to relax in.
room was a little dated but it didn't bother me, I slept well and room was very clean although there were kitchen smells in the room ..I stayed in Buttermere.
Value for money, great location for walking, ideal for family holiday, warm and quite swimming pool.
Rooms grubby and tired. Old fashioned kettle which never turned off. Dirty carpets. Bathrooms had mould around edge of bath shower and shower screen. Dining room smelt like school dinners.
It was comfortable and friendly.
Dining room a little crowded for breakfast but it was half term and many children were there enjoying themselves.
Our bedroom which was located in the main building, was very comfortable with en suite shower. As we were only there for one night, we didn't get time to use the pool which we were told was very good. Would stay there again.
Everything was good from the rooms to the food
The staff were very friendly and helpful the hotel was very clean and we loved the swimming pool
I liked the location because it was quite. Good tea. Nice old building.
Quite dusty rooms, especially the above the wardrobe and underneath beds it really impacts on asthma as my partner has one so it was rather hard to sleep without coughing all night. Kettles definitely needs to be replaced as they were old and sensor was broken so you had to guess when to turn it off from the socket! Shared bathroom and toilets were not the best as the shower looked like it's never been proper scrubbed and toilets often were weed on as well as sticky floor.
