The best experience with this property, in addition to the authentically lovely atmosphere, was the attentiveness of the staff. Especially, the Manager of the property, and the staff at the front desk check-in, were the most customer-service oriented hotel reception staff that one could possibly find. Having newly-appointed beds and linens made the comforts extremely rewarding. The hair dryer!! It required keeping your finger depressed on the "on" button while drying hair, it was awkward, not powerful enough to dry my thick hair, and consequently I felt not well-groomed. Next time I will take my own, but there will be a next time - this is a minor inconvenience and it certainly will not deter me from staying with this hotel again.

Clean, comfortable bed, consideration given to request for quiet room. Breakfast good, especially the attention given to the running of the resteraunt by the head waiter. Visiting family and would defiantly stay again.

I enjoyed the combintion of an old-fashioned type of hotel with modern facilities and a beautiful setting. The cost is rather high for me and as I stay at the hotel several times a year, it would be lovely to have a discount.

Location, hotel setting and reception staff very helpful. I was very disappointed indeed with the extortionately overpriced food menu, particularly for the breakfast options. The breakfast buffet was disappointing with very few truly fresh options (the pastries in particular were 'miniature' and certainly not fresh), and for the price of a 'Continental Breakfast' the buffet was very poor indeed overall. I also had a severe allergic reaction to the orange 'juice' which again was certainly not fresh and was made from some type of concentrate to which I personally am highly allergic - this was not made clear on the menus or by staff and I assumed that a hotel of this calibre (and a breakfast this expensive) would have at least had proper fresh juices available - it is appalling that there were not fresh juices or other items, and having had an asthma attack triggered by this substitute 'juice' after only a small sip I had to leave the room (which is also windowless) to recover. Not at all the experience I had expected and I urge your hotel group to look into this over-priced non-fresh service/menu in the restaurant area at this hotel.

An attractive hotel with a spacious double room compete with it's own walk in wardrobe. Liked the touches re toiletries and shoe shine, etc. Plenty of tea and coffee. Dinner was excellent. Very convenient for the city with plenty of parking. Recommended

Hotel very comfortable and clean. My room was beautiful and clean every evening on my return to the hotel. I was staying there for a five day induction at Christchurch university and the location of the hotel was perfect. My single room was extremely spacious and the free wi fi was very useful. I have to return to Canterbury several times in the next 12 months and hope to stay here every time. Menu in the restaurant and bar a little limited and breakfast expensive.

You know that with Best Westerns the general standard will be good. Specifically with this hotel it's an attractive building conveniently close but not too close to the historical sites and excellent shopping of Canterbury. We know the hotel is going to have an extension built very soon but I hope it allows them to cater fully for those staying at the hotel rather than putting an additional squeeze on facilities. When we arrived we couldn't park because of a conference taking place and were directed to a side street. We were told the car park should start to empty at 5. All good business but not good for us, we left the car as directed and went into town. On the morning of our departure we went for breakfast but were told it was full and others were waiting. We were asked to wait in reception for a few minutes. Having stood there for 15 minutes we abandoned the idea and left. This was very poorly handled, restaurants get full but usually plan better for waiting guests. So, and this is an observation not a complaint, they don't match facilities to demand.

Close enough to walk to centre of Canterbury Although comfortable in the room, the walls seemed thin as there was a fair amount of noise from people passing along the corridor outside.

The location is excellent, close to the city center, but still peaceful with a large garden. The heating (air conditioning) system was too noisy and blowing too hard. The room was smallish. The food in the restaurant was not of the quality that we expected.

Good quality accommodation in a good location. Handy for the City with easy access to the countryside and coast of Kent The evening food fare was too elaborate and expensive. No wonder the restaurant was virtually empty. Need to review their menu.

Parking was easy at this hotel, and the receptionists, in fact all staff, were friendly and efficient. Very comfortable room, lovely hotel with lots of areas downstairs for relaxing and having coffee, reading etc. Breakfast was excellent and we will definitely return to this hotel on our next visit to Canterbury. Our room was a bit too warm, but maybe we just didn't manage to work the air-conditioning properly!

Wonderful comfort! Loved your bar library area. Comfortable rooms on the quiet side of the hotel. Very close to centre and shops and university. Staff was courteous and helpful, and discreet. Felt very calm, peaceful, excellent for work concentration. Beautiful building also! I certainly will be coming back.
