Hotel very comfortable and clean. My room was beautiful and clean every evening on my return to the hotel. I was staying there for a five day induction at Christchurch university and the location of the hotel was perfect. My single room was extremely spacious and the free wi fi was very useful. I have to return to Canterbury several times in the next 12 months and hope to stay here every time. Menu in the restaurant and bar a little limited and breakfast expensive.

You know that with Best Westerns the general standard will be good. Specifically with this hotel it's an attractive building conveniently close but not too close to the historical sites and excellent shopping of Canterbury. We know the hotel is going to have an extension built very soon but I hope it allows them to cater fully for those staying at the hotel rather than putting an additional squeeze on facilities. When we arrived we couldn't park because of a conference taking place and were directed to a side street. We were told the car park should start to empty at 5. All good business but not good for us, we left the car as directed and went into town. On the morning of our departure we went for breakfast but were told it was full and others were waiting. We were asked to wait in reception for a few minutes. Having stood there for 15 minutes we abandoned the idea and left. This was very poorly handled, restaurants get full but usually plan better for waiting guests. So, and this is an observation not a complaint, they don't match facilities to demand.

Location to the centre of Canterbury and the facilities and shops available. The atmosphere at the hotel was friendly and welcoming and all aspects of the trip went well. only problem was a noisy air conditioning system but that was minor!

Location good for town centre/cathedral Very noisy adjacent bathrooms where 'all' bathroom sounds could be heard! The reception staff looked disinterested in us pointing out a few minor problems and proceeded to do nothing about them eg. Tv aerial lead faulty, picture breaking up. Early morning bin activity and collection outside of window - vista of bins and derelict buildings. It had an air of a work in progress/modernisation about it

Nice location about a 5 minute walk outside of Canterbury City centre, nice sized room with comfortable bed and good facilities. Very quiet which was good considering how close it is to main road and the city itself. Room itself was a bit dated and could probably do with a refurb, however overall this didnt really impact on our stay.

The decor was very fresh and entrance very inviting Very noisy, doors closing, you can hear next door chattering, and floor above us was ultra noisy with footfall. To enter and exit hotel you walk through a barrage of smokers, not good.

Location Building Gardens Friendly staff The WiFi system is not convenient, with the cloud system, to fussy, and annoying to connect, when a standard WiFi connection could be used as in other hotels, I.E.WiFi adress plus WiFi code,,,, so much more easier and les frustrating.

Great location, only 10 minutes walk from the centre of Canterbury. The grounds and the hotel buildings are very scenic. Breakfast a little expensive, but with the city centre being so close it's not really a problem because you can find something alternative very easily.

The decor was very relaxing and it felt as though the room had recently been decorated. The grounds are lovely and it's very convenient that the car can be left parked in the grounds for a couple of hours after checkout. The new complex is still in the process of being built and it looks as though little has been done since last summer. This is a shame, as I am looking forward to the use of spa facilities on site which might induce me to spend more time in the actual hotel, rather than using it as a base to explore from.

Beautiful setting just outside the City within easy reach of the centre. Room was spacious, very clean and well priced. We were upgraded on arrival to a Deluxe Double Room which provided more than we could have asked for.

Good enough location (15' walk to the city centre) and good heating (in Canterbury in winter really needed). Did not try the breakfast, so cannot comment on it.

It is pleasant, comfortable and provides for a relaxing stay. Have stayed there several times and it always makes an enjoyable base for visiting friends and relatives in the area. Food is good and reliable and am always happy to invite friends to join us for an evening meal. Glad the full breakfast menu has been restored which gives plenty of choice to start the day.

“Lovely Hotel in pretty grounds only a short drive into Canterbury. Staff were very attentive and our room was very spacious with a lovely four poster bed in keeping with our arrival straight from Hever Castle and the days of Henry VIII. The dining room bar and lounge were very well appointed.” Paul, Harpenden |
