I liked the environment and the wide choice of breakfast, as well as its quality but, most of all, I liked and enjoyed the bar, where I have spent most of the time (and a few quid). I definitely did not like the "no smoking" policy, but this is politicians' fault. Also, the rooms are a bit small, especially for couples - that is why I rated comfort as only "fair". |

The hotel is a beautiful building set in lovely gardens, the room was large and comfortable; there was free wireless internet in the room and public areas. It is conveniently located for access to town centre, on foot or by car. The standard of the restaurant really lets the hotel down. The staff were badly trained, ill-informed and extremely slow. We ate dinner and breakfast there, and on both occasions were appalled by the service and very disappointed in the food, despite the fact of a very limited menu. We heard a number of other customers complaining about both service and food quality.Shame, because the rest of the hotel is delightful, and the staff friendly and helpful. We would have appreciated a fridge in the room; there was a space which had clearly been a minibar but the fridge had been removed; since we were reduced to bringing in own food, it would have been nice to be able to store it. |

A very pleasant hotel, well situated; the room was reasonably spacious, clean and had a very acceptable bathroom Dinner - the restaurant manager presented a bill which was £20 too high. We chose sirloin syeak which eas tough and tasteless. This we mentioned on departure but only an uninteresdted ritual apology waqs forthcoming |

Room albeit not large was decorated and furnished to a good and better than expected standard. Staff friendly. Location very good with hotel set in sizeable grounds away from the main road but very near to city centre. |

Good welcome from friendly staff. Within walking distance of central Canterbury. Parking close to the hotel. Room was clean and comfortable with tea and coffee making facilities. Small problem with one or two tiny ants under coffee/tea tray and in bathroom. Pointed this out to staff when leaving who said they would advise cleaning staff. Dirty plates on tables outside could have been cleared away quicker. |

Parking better than most. Table d'hote menu at a very reasonable price. Free wifi. Entrance from road VERY difficult to spot. Exorbitant charge for 'continental' breakfast (we're not all on company expenses). |

The general ambience is good which is why I returned this year after two visits in 2008. Having booked in April I was not pleased to find myself in a back facing room not one of the best in the hotel. Also not happy that continental breakfast not included in the daily price. Both points made at the time of stay. |

Staff polite & welcoming on our arrival. While waiting for our room to be ready we enjoyed a quiet drink in one of the delightful & very comfortable lounge areas just the thing after a 3hr not so good journey! We were upgraded to the bridal suite which absolutely made our weekend, what a fantastic room! The spa bath was an added bonus definitely the thing for relaxing and chilling out which is what the weekend was all about for us.Close enough to have a nice comfortable walk into town appx 15 mins and not too far to drive to the Coast for some refreshing sea air. Went home at the end of the weekend, after a very good English Breakfat, feeling very relaxed and refreshed! Would definitely recommend it. |

Staff in the restaurant were highly professional and really took the time to serve you. The hotel was clean and well laid out. The noise from the overhead and adjacent rooms was intolerable, from a very early hour (5am) onwards. Whilst you cannot prevent other guests from moving around their room, of course, you can take steps to minimise the impact of this by the use of sound barriers. I would strongly recommend that the hotel invest in this - at the £130 price per night, this would seem a reasonable request. |
