1° day: no hot water, only cold water. 2° day: only very hot/boiling water. Taking a shower just impossible. Very noisy in the corridor during all nights. Elevator was not working. Very poor breakfast.

The location of the Abcone was ideal for my confrence, the hotel was clean and staff very friendly. My room wasn't bad although there was a second bed made-up (not sure why!). Very comfy bed too.. Wasn't really anything especially good to say about the breakfast... only offered cereal and toast and you can't go wrong with that.

We liked the location, which is relatively quiet. The staff were always polite and helpful. The price is competitive and the rooms clean. The room was hot, but the radiator could be turned off. There was no thick duvet on the bed, fortunately, and blankets could be easily removed. The lift was not working properly but since the The Abcone is due for a refurbishment in the immediate future, apparently, this will obviously be dealt with. The malfunction of the lift really did not affect us, in any case, since we are happy to keep fit walking up stairs! We also liked the dining room and found the breakfast very adequate.

After reading the many comments from different people, I was not expecting much but I was very pleasantly surprised. We came a little early before check-in time. They had upgraded us to a triple room-2nd floor ,#9 which was nice but it only had a big shower. They found us a bath, room # 23 on the 4th floor, double room but about the same size as the other. For the center of London, the rooms were good-sized. Location is perfect- easywalking distance to the museums and Hyde Park. Many choices of restaurants, pubs, cafes, etc. Really near the Gloucester Underground station. The reception was really outstanding- he really gave many suggestions for where to go, how, etc The breakfast was minimal with only toast (though all you wanted and they made it for you), cereal (though happy to have Bran flakes) and coffee. It would be nice to have some yoghurt and/or fruit supplied. The tv was very small-- like an old laptop screen except not flat! A lot of wear and tear in the room -light carpets so you really see the stains but clean. Bath nice- I will remember to put in my special comments next time to have one. They should include some more shampoo and bath/shower gel. There was only 2 shampoos and no bath/shower gel and since now we must travel light with a ziplock bag, it is hard to bring those. But even with these comments, all in all it was a great deal and I would come back again.

The staff were friendly and helpful. I really liked the location - walking distance to key attractions/shopping, and very handy to the tube. The hotel room was very comfortable and the bathroom very nicely developed. I was pleased that although close to a main thoroughfare, the room was relatively quiet and on a nice street. I appreciated having access to a phone and hair dryer in the room. The water was much too hot, at risk of scalding. I had trouble turning the shower faucet down to a reasonable temperature. I was disappointed that the tv reception was so poor. Also, based on the website, I had assumed that the rooms had free wireless and that breakfast was included in the room price.

Location is good, close to the tube and buses, in a quiet neighborhood. Supermarket and restaurants nearby. We got a big (family) room with a good bathroom. Contrary to many of the comments I read, the shower water temperature was easy to regulate through a very convenient thermostatic tap. The price was very good (we booked well in advance). Wi-fi not available throughout the hotel as announced, it only works at the front desk where room for seating is short... TV is really bad (bad reception, very few channels). Room carpet was stained, but bearable. Breakfast is regular. No "freshly baked muffins and organic breads" for breakfast as announced

Staff were friendly and responded quickly to queries. Extra blanket was provided when asked for. Missing item was followed up with staff apology and explanation given. The room was very cold. Mattress was old and dipped badly in middle. WIFI was only available at the reception. Toothpaste went missing when room was cleaned - it was explained later that they were understaffed and a porter had cleaned the room instead of the normal person.

Comfortable and in excellent location for our needs, including easy access to London Underground The carpet was noticeably stained and in our opinion the net curtains in our room looked in need of laundering.

The hotel was a perfect location for the things we wanted to see in London, the tube was only a a 5 minute walk and it did'nt take long to get into central london. The natural history museum was about 15 minutes walk also which was good. The rooms were comfortable and had tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge which was helpful. It also had a bathroom which although small was perfectly acceptable. The only negative was the breakfast that was included in the price of the room, but that didnt mean much as it was very disappointing. During our stay of 3 days we only had the breakfast once, it was suppose to be a continental breakfast but all we were offered was a box of cereal, toast and some slices of plastic cheese and tea or coffee. Usually a continental has croissants, fresh fruits, ham and cheeses and rolls as well as the cereals. Please take note abcone hotel as this would have given you a much better review!!!!

Politeness of staff Floor carpet was very stained and looked dirty. Crack to washbasin. Signs of mould to tile grouting. Low water pressure to shower. Room radiator did not work (although a small electric fan was provided instead). Basement breakfast area was cold.

The location was perfect as we were attending an event at The Royal Albert Hall and The v & a Museum. The Staff were very polite and accomodating We were given a very large family room which was very nice, however the double bed was in fact a large bed settee which wasn't what we booked. If the description had indicated a bed settee we certainly wouldn't have booked the room. There was a large dark stain on the ceiling where obviously there had been a leak in the room above, a coat of white paint would have eliminated that very easily. The breakfast description boasts organic continental breakfast including muffins. There were no muffins, and only cereal - not organic, and toast, there were a few slices of cheese but no continental meats.

“Very nice hotel, quiet location, yet close to lots of restaurants with the tube just around the corner. Staff are most helpful. The hotel has the feel of a homely country house, yet it's in the heart of London. We had a lovely room, but a few of the rooms are small for doubles, so book early!” Maria, Dublin |
