This accomodation is advertised in a Bed and Breakfast section on line but does not serve breakfast, also the member of staff demanded cash for payment after I had booked it with a card, Had to walk into town to get cash.
Our stay was a one day lay over from a sailing training. Bed was good and shower hot. Can't ask for much more when getting off a boat after a week. Close to shopping, pubs and banks.
could not have shower in the morning due to cold water not working.fire alarm in room went of at 6.15 am woke everyone up in the room
The room was shabby and in the attic, the window is broken the lower rail of the bottom sash has a two inch gap on right and the glass has slipped down. The skylight would not close, there are stains on the walls and the carpet was dirty. generally it was third rate
Pleasant place , excellent value , clean , clean sheets clean shower , no probs , stayed one night .
A little dark on the stair way . was worried after reading other reviews , no problems
24 hour access. No curfews
Office didn't open until 0930, so had to wait to pay my bill
Its a dump
The room was excellent value, very comfortable
The food was very much quantity over quality
Water in shower too hot and couldn't be adjusted. Only one towel per guest.
the only thing to like here was location.
The beds were hard and seemed to have hard lumps on the mattresses. The valance sheets on 1 bed was dirty, the rest of the bed linen was faded, old and washed out, THe ensuite door didn't fit properly and had to be banged to close. We only stayed there because everywhere else was totally booked out, wouldn't recommend it, We were booked into Room 11, seemed to be an attic room, definitely not for the faint hearted.
Smallish car park as an elderly person top floor room? No hot water in shower!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lack of tea/coffee/milk sachets No bedside light Over priced £30 better - not £50pn
Freedom of access, Parking
Lift not working Mattresses a little hard.
Comfort Price per room very high for Staff couldn't speak English State of decoration No breakfast Was previously a care home!
Comfy bed and warm
English was challenging at times. I asked for help and half way through the woman went to answer the door and registered the new guest and put me to one side. we had an agreed and paid for latered check out yet we were called on twice to leave
Dreadful staff, dreadful place. I made a mistake and booked the same location twice. We were informed of this when we arrived but told we wouldn't be charged for this error. £100 was then taken out of my account the following week. Unable to get a refund either as when you ask to speak to the Manager at Acorn Lodge, the Manager pretends that he is not the Manager. Awful service - no towels, toilet roll or milk in the room and fire hazard as back door is locked and does not open if there is a fire - reported to local fire service. Bookings.com should not be advertising this place under H&S concerns!!
Location was excellent and parking on site too
Decor in room poor- damp patches in room, mildew in ensuite. Ensuite door didnt shut unless slammed it, which during night wakes people up. Whole place looked shabby
>Rooms were quite spacious >Duvets were warm >En-suite was new and nice hot shower >They are trying to make it look/feel better - corridors has just been painted >Small tv in room with basic kettle/tea options
>Looked and read like an old peoples home (sign still up) >Very noisy throughout the night - did not feel safe as lots of nightime activities >Bedrooms were dated - lots of marks and scuffs on walls etc >Safety was not great - Electric cables were running of extension leads and the tv look like it was about to fall off the wall >The windows were wide open when we arrived and we could not close them - Very old and no locks >Said it was 1 mile from Portsmouth Harbour but actually 30 mins drive to ferry terminal
close to portsmouth and shops and in a quite spot so u can sleep
nothing i didn"t like
Bleak and unwelcoming. No food available on site. Website says that food is available nearby. Rubbish. There are shops nearby but very few places to eat and what there is, is poor. I got there late, eventually found a pub but it closed at 10!! All you get here is a very very basic room and a bed. For £70! Better to sleep in your car!
Location good for submarine museum and historic Portsmouth Dockyard attractions. A large room and guest house had free parking.
Shabby decor. It was all about collecting the money and not really very welcoming. Had to use the back door.
the bed was very comfortable location near to center helpful and friendly staff
i WAS HAPPY TO BE THERE
The bedroom size
The silk sheets
Location, room was nice and tidy. Staff was welcoming and helpfull.
Outside it was written care house (before this building was a care house). Didn't look so nice from outside, should be renovated. I don't know why, but staff was unlocking doors in the morning while we were still sleeping. They should provide signs with "please dont disturb".
Not enough tea bags
