Acorn Lodge  

Good location and very friendly host.

Terrible pillows and bed, bad TV reception, room could do with a good clean..

The only acceptable item of Acorn Lodge is the location. It is so convenient to take bus.

Except location, everything sucks. There is less room service, and the facilities in the room hardly work. It is very cold in the room. At windy day, you can hear the house is shaking.

The manager was very friendly and helpful. The room was a decent size and clean.

This should be classed as a B & B, not a lodge. There was no lift facilities and had to carry our luggage downstairs and there was no parking facilities.

It was ok 2 stay in but basic

The TV did not work. Also asked for a double room and got single beds. Some things were a bit worn.

Staff were really friendly and it walking distance to Hibs football ground on Easter Road. Breakfast was good with unlimited coffee. This is quite basic but great value for money

We were lucky to get parked on Pilrig St about 20yards from the entrance, still we our drivers side wing smashed off on the Sunday Morn. It's about a 15 - 20min walk to the city centre so I would advise ringing a cab. Take your own showergel or shampoo as they just supply you with those crap little soap bars.

Nothing, I would not recommend this BnB to anybody!! The bed was crawling with bedbugs, some tiny, some large, had to call the landlord at 1am in the morning when we realised the situation, to request a change of room, needless to say had the worst nights sleep even in the new room, the landlord blamed some bulgarian backbackers and said he was sorry, had the absolute cheek to still charge us full price. Never stay here.

Staff didnt speak english. BnB was dirty and smelly. Landlord conveniently dissappered in the morning to avoid a formal complaint. Saw the staff cleaning sheet in the morining it just had our room number on 'to clean' im pretty sure the landlord has no intention of getting a company in to control the infestation, by the size of some of the bugs id guess they'd been around for a while.

The hotel is close to the city centre.

My bed was full of bedbugs! The whole hotel was dirty and run down. The warm breakfast also didn't worth it.

very friendly staff. room was cozy. a few things were broken,but we loved it regardless.

The owner was pleasant and showed us to the room. The hotel was a short walk from good public transport links and only a 10 minute journey to the city centre.

The beds were very uncomfortable and the pillows very thin; we both had the worst nights sleep we have ever had in a hotel. The tv in the room did not work at all. We were told to close the shutters at the window to keep the noise out at night, but the shutters did not close and we could not close the curtains as they were almost hanging off the rail. The en- suite was very small and there is no wardrobe in the room, just a shallow cupboard. The whole hotel could do with a good clean as there is a thick layer of dust on everything. We paid the extra for cooked breakfast and really wished we hadn'T...it was barely warm and not worth the money.

For a place to just lay down your head overnight it was fine but it was pretty basic and to its credit, very clean. Lots of hot water in the morning as well. £30 each for the night is cheap for Edinburgh though but stayed in Blackpool for the same amount where breakfast wasnt an extra cost and that one even had a pool and a decent tv system.

Small crt tv, no freeview, no satellite. No curtains at the window but there were shutters at the window...which didnt shut fully. All night heard a slight almost creaking sound and discovered in the morning that the curtain rail was held up with masking tape and it had come away...explains why no curtains were hung. The light above one if the beds was hanging off with cables exposed. Beds were very creaky...every slight movement made it creak like mad!
