clean, super bathroom, modern and comfortable surroundings
Excellent hotel just a short taxi journey from centre of town hotel facilities excellent also nice cooked breakfast in all good value.
As the room was warm opened window and traffic from sauchiehall street was noisy
Very friendly staff member (Joe I think he was called). Very modern and very nice breakfast! I didn't really venture out of the hotel as I was just travelling on business however it was in a great location. Ladies - Hairdryer and GHDs in the rooms are great!!!
My room was slightly on the small side although it was a single room so cant really complain. It did however need a good clean. There was a lot of dust over the light shade and the grouting on the tiles in the shower was orange from where it obviously needs a good clean. The surfaces and bed linen were clean though so not being a majorly fussy person I didn't complain.
We were I. Room 4, The rooms were small . We could here our neighbours talking. Our sleep was disturbed by the door banging and the music and noise from the bar downstairs. Radiator in room does not work so as I feel the cold somewhat more than others, I was cold during my stay,
Location was great....lots of restaurants, bars and easy access from the m8. Rooms were nice and clean with flatscreen tv and ghd straighteners for the mrs. Would def go back there.
Friendliness of staff. Excellent location and easily walkable from Queen Street, Station.
Minimal housekeeping done Clean linen left on floor of public corridors in morning No mattress covers on beds Beds not comfortable Room was hot. Could not leave window open for security reasons and lack of screens on windows..pigeons on windowsill.
Location was good and fairly central to get to other areas in the city. Good quiet location.
Floor in room sloped. Staff were all very present but could have done with more on my initial morning as there was a mix up over breakfast order which was also a little slow. Fine for matbe a couple of nights but wouldn't recommend for a lengthy stay.
Clean design room good wifi nice bathroom
the breakfast smell noise of the bar nearby
We found this hotel to be excellent. it was spotlessly clean. very quiet and private and not too far from the city centre. would definitely stay here again
Staff, when available, were friendly and helpful.
Incredibly noisey, you can hear every word from adjacent rooms. No reception or staff available to police noise during night. Rowdy guests. Domestic arguments throughout the night from surrounding rooms!
Very small hotel and kept clean, Staff very polite and helpful. good location for visiting the SECC/Hydro and the west end area.
Not really a dislike, but the location is a bit of a distance from the city centre so not a short walk if you plan to go shopping.
Location Good, clean room Cost
Would benefit greatly by having a lift - long way up to 2nd floor if you have baggage. TV a little small
Friendly member of staff called Joe was a great multitasker - handles reception and cooks great breakfasts!
Communication, you don't get an answer to your messages.
Location is excellent.
No heating for 16+ hours per day. Unfriendly senior staff member. Weak WiFi signal. Loud noise and vibration from entrance door. No elevator or help with luggage and over 50 steps to first floor (in case you're with luggage that is a turn down). Only way to open door after 22:00 is with magnetic card, which can easily be unmagnetised if held near a cell phone and then you're screwed, reception is unattended quite often since the staff cooks breakfast and works as reception too. The cleaning lady also helps with the breakfast. We didn't have breakfast included so we were glad for that once we saw that not professionally trained cooks were taking care of food. No fridge in rooms, which is to be expected in 3 star hotel so not really a minus, but not convenient.
Bed was comfortable Bathroom was updated Breakfast was excellent Street parking with vouchers worked well.
Room was a bit cramped
Good location for the university. good breakfast in cramped dining area, service slow
Someone else's false eyelashes on bedroom floor! Room very warm and noisy both from the street and internally- a shame as I am a regular visitor to the city.
Liked the look of the hotel as soon as you entered it loved the location
The bed and pillows and the cobwebs on the wall
Nice room and a good location.
No lift, but not a serious problem, and we were on the top floor. Staff helped to carry heavy bags.
Clean, modern , affordable. New bathroom.
Great location - within walking distance of city centre and the university, and some great restaurants for a bite to eat. We were in Glasgow for the University Open day and the location was excellent. Staff very helpful and lovely breakfast
staff ,location close to park and use of parking permit
I needed access to both the city centre and the university (West End) for which Acorn is ideal. It's situated next to Kelvingrove Park which is a very pleasant place to walk round, whilst still being only a 20 minute walk from Buchanan St in the city centre. The room itself was very spacious for a single, and the bathroom was excellent in terms of both size and quality.
The hotel is built into a grand old Georgian(?) building, which means that the walls are quite thin and noise travels through them easily. Likewise the windows. Some may find the lack of 24hr reception inconvenient.
