Friendly member of staff called Joe was a great multitasker - handles reception and cooks great breakfasts!
Communication, you don't get an answer to your messages.
Bed was comfortable Bathroom was updated Breakfast was excellent Street parking with vouchers worked well.
Room was a bit cramped
Liked the look of the hotel as soon as you entered it loved the location
The bed and pillows and the cobwebs on the wall
Nice room and a good location.
No lift, but not a serious problem, and we were on the top floor. Staff helped to carry heavy bags.
Clean, modern , affordable. New bathroom.
Great location - within walking distance of city centre and the university, and some great restaurants for a bite to eat. We were in Glasgow for the University Open day and the location was excellent. Staff very helpful and lovely breakfast
staff ,location close to park and use of parking permit
I needed access to both the city centre and the university (West End) for which Acorn is ideal. It's situated next to Kelvingrove Park which is a very pleasant place to walk round, whilst still being only a 20 minute walk from Buchanan St in the city centre. The room itself was very spacious for a single, and the bathroom was excellent in terms of both size and quality.
The hotel is built into a grand old Georgian(?) building, which means that the walls are quite thin and noise travels through them easily. Likewise the windows. Some may find the lack of 24hr reception inconvenient.
Location Staff Room
Nothing - all good
The Acorn Hotel is well presented, the man on Duty was such a nice person and incredibly helpful. The room was small, however well laid out. Very impressed with the hair straighteners ! Nothing was a problem, the parking card was £2 and gave me stress free parking in Glasgow the next day. The bathroom was modern and I liked the feminine touches.
Great location, nice rooms, free wifi
Breakfast was cooked and served by one girl. Through no fault if hers, breakfast too 20 mins to arrive.
- location was great, within walking distance from city centre - we had a room on the upper floor and was quite with a park view. I must say that according to previous reviews I asked for such a room while making the reservation, and I got it - so thanks to staff for taking the requirements into account. - breakfast are served - buffet only for cold breakfast, juice and coffee. Nevertheless, cooked breakfast was tasty with variety of options, included fully british breakfast. However, needed to pay extra! - availability of making a coffee/tea in the room - free wifi
- poor bed - the bed looked rather like a sofa-bed instead of a proper bed and, more importantly, the mattress was really poor, spoiled and uncomfortable - the bed and floor was annoyingly squeaky - the size of TV was rather small and remote control did not work properly - same person is a receptionist as well as a person who makes breakfast for the guests. When more people came for breakfast at the same time, we needed to wait even as long as 30 minutes to get breakfast.
nice quiet area friendly staff
we had early start and had to wait on breakfast being cooked so was rushed but was good
Location to my meeting. GHDs in room so no need to carry.
Room was noisy from bar downstairs. Breakfast inedible. Power cut during shower.
The room was very clean and the bed comfortable. We also liked the bathroom especially the shower and the free Wi-Fi was a real bonus.
Nice location - walkable to centre but in generally quiet area near to Kelvingrove Park.
My room on ground floor facing street - noise from bar next door kept me awake
seemed like a very new building or very well kept. Convinient size single rooms and good value for money. Good location Thank you!
Dust on top of shelf Tv arrangement was'nt functional, could not view it from bed properly.
Super friendly and very helpful staff, cozy, updated, great location with easy access to the museum, university, sauchiehall street, great value, LOVED IT
Neil, our concierge was excellent and very friendly. Price (50 pounds) was great
No elevator (tough for my Mum) Rooms slightly small
Very spacious & comfortable room,
TV didn't seem to work, no breakfast option available
Very nice and clean hotel in good location and with friendly staff.
no drinking water in the room (just tap water which wasn't very good) and a bit loud from the pub next door.
Great location, Neil was ace, breakfast is superb, would definitely use it again if I went to Glasgow!
Tiny bath Very Heavy Door to go in and out of Bed was terrible: uncomfortable and noisy
The location of the hotel is excellent as it is only a 10 minute walk from the city centre. Parking vouchers are available from reception at a cheaper cost than the parking machines.
There was a hornets nest outside our window on the roof so we couldn't have our windows open which made the room very stuffy and difficult to get a good nights sleep. We asked at reception for a fan but were told they never had any spare. Even with the windows closed there was still a few wasps that manged to get into the room.
