Decor, staff, facilities in room
lukewarm water, uncomfortable matress& pillows, unstable shower tray.
Good location, convenient for city centre and university. Room was not huge but plenty large enough and had a really nice shower room.
Reception staff member was not a great host.
Close to businesses I was visiting Close to Kelvingrove Park Close to Charring Cross train station (7 min walk) Excellent breakfast Very clean rooms Free WiFi. When asked, staffed did help. Lady on duty the first night I was there was incredibly helpful and friendly. It's a decent short stay/business hotel. Clean and comfortable with good WiFi and breakfast - but not a place you'll want to lounge in. Rooms come with hairdryer and straightening irons!
No laundry service, or inclination to help provide one. The guy on reception got annoyed with me for calling reception to inquire, explaining that I should have come down to ask as he was working alone. I felt very awkward after that, as if by I was inconveniencing him in some way by being a guest at the hotel. There was no information in the room to let me know what was and wasn't provided at the hotel. Room was small and not the greatest sound insulation. I could hear my neighbour's TV through the walls.
Location. Joe was very helpful. Have stayed once before and will again.
Bed is a bit uncomfortable and small.
- Its close to the city. - Close to the offices
The fact staff at Acorn Hotel Glasgow harass you and threaten to cancel a booking if you don't pre-pay by midday on date of travel. People like to pay when they get to the hotel. In 2014 these sort of practices to get money out of people should be non existent.
Clean and modern
No one to speak to on the desk when I went down to complain about the noise from the room next door who were partying till 4 in the morning . Was told there was a sign on the door to tell you who to see but all dark an never saw it :(
Good quiet location. Ten minute walk to centre. Breakfast very good.
Central location. Very Clean. Staff friendly and helpful.
On street parking. Hotel provides parking vouchers at a cost of £4.00 per day. You require to pay this sum in cash at reception. Receptionist was very nice and helped out when I turned up without cash. ATM cash machine at Charing Cross, 5-10 minutes walk away.
15-20 minutes easy walking to the Hydro arena, and half the price of the on-site hotels. Also walked from Queens St station without effort. Quiet location, decent room and very helpful staff.
First time of visiting Glasgow, staff were very friendly and helpful. Full of useful information surrounding the area from bars to restaurants, to shopping. The beds were super comfy. Pillows were so amazing I wanted to keep them. The bathroom was clean and tidy and same with the room. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay at the acorn hotel and I would stay here again.
Could do with having its own car park. Luckily we were staying at the weekend and the parking was free, however if you are planning on staying during the week it could be a little difficult.
Room very nice modern fresh decor, tv and wifi plus tea and coffee. Warm and friendly welcome from staff.
No soundproofing could hear everything (and I mean everything) from room next door and all noise from outside. Bed was on the hard side as were the pillows.
The modern bathroom, & helpful staff.
It was not as convenient as I thought to city centre.
Joe on reception was very friendly and helpful, the hotel was clean and inviting, the room was quiet and comfortable with a firm matress, good bedlinen and a lovely toilet/shower-room.. Breakfast was very relaxed and most enjoyable.
Room 5 was small, clean but adequate for the price paid. Convenient for the shops and visiting the Hydro for a show. Breakfast was fantastic.
Ground floor rooms affected by a live band playing until midnight, then a jukebox until 1.30am. Smokers stand outside our window shouting and carrying on. Thought as it was in a quite location that we wouldn't have had to put up with such noise. Avoid ground floor rooms if you want to sleep!
Style, cleanliness, facilities in room, staff were helpful
Beds were uncomfortable and noisy. No restaurant for evening meals, however there is a very friendly pub next door that served good food.
Walking distance from universities. Clean, modern and spacious rooms. Cheap car parking. Friendly and helpful staff.
Mattress was at the end of its life. Television in the shower didn't work and the one in the bedroom was hung bent on the wall.
You hear peo
I came in quite wet and cold. The welcome I recceived, followed by a hot shower, coffee and a rest, meant I was quickly back to normal! The gentleman on reception was most welcoming and helpful. Thank you!
price to much for one night £50
Comfortable rooms, very good breakfast, reliable WiFi
Slightly further from centre than I had thought (20 minute walk) but excellent hotel
We were in Glasgow for one night for a concert at the Hydro and the Acorn was approx 15min walk from here so very handy. The girl on the desk gave us a warm welcome on arrival and the waitress at breakfast the next morning was also pleasant. The room although not large was cosy and clean and had everything we needed from tea making facilities to hair straighteners which I have never had in a hotel before! Our room overlooked a quiet street and we didn't hear any noise overnight. There was a fairly good choice for breakfast in the morning and the dining room had a nice modern feel. Would stay here again.
There was nothing we didn't like but if we were to be picky one of the bedside lights didn't work and the shower base had a crack and felt a bit sponges underfoot.
Huge room with superb facilities massive walk in shower with TV. room was faultless and the reception woman did everything and was very attentive.
Limited parking and breakfast was lacking the personal touch
Nice design of interior, GHD hair straighteners & free biscuits in room, helpful staff (receptionist lent me her own portable heater as my radiator was broken)
The hotel is VERY noisy, you can clearly hear conversations & all noise from the next room. I didn't even have leave my room to knock on their door to request some peace, I just asked out loud & they heard me. Lovely looking hotel but you need earplugs or co-operative neighbours to get any sleep
Very welcoming and comfortable
Quiet but convenient location for West side and University. Clean and comfortable. Helpful Staff. Our children's twin room and ensuite were very spacious.
Our double room was a little cramped with no sitting area other than desk and single chair.
