The B&B is located within an easy walk to town & there are places to eat & drink very nearby. The host & staff were very friendly & helpful & gave me all the assistance & advice i required. The room was fine, large comfy bed, good size TV, small but effective bathroom with a reasonable shower. There were no common areas, but for 1 night this didn't affect us. The place was clean, easy to find & accommodating. The structure was "interesting".
We had no problems or issues with our stay.
Modern spacious room. Very near city centre and on a good bus route. Friendly helpful staff. Good breakfast.
Location. Easy walk along the river to the city. Free parking. Good breakfast and helpful host
It is a small terrace so size of bathroom was small as would be expected
Convenience to centre Pleasant host, willing to please eg ordering taxi, allowed to leave luggage in safe-keeping very quiet room at back of residence Very good breakfast
Whilst our room was obviously a new addition & very clean & comfortable, it was a little too warm, with only one small window. Also while Shower was adequate for me, for a llarger person it would have been quite difficult to manoeuvre in it.
Clean, quiet, breakfast
Cramped room, Velux with no proper blind - too much light in the morning, expensive for size of room
It was basic, which would have been fine if it was cheap but it wasnt
Leaving on Sunday morning, saddened by having had to have paid in advance..in full...
The room - was minimalist, dirty and cold. The bathroom was tiny and barely provided room for a grown man to turn around. Overall it gave the impression of badly refurbished student accommodation. Nothing wrong with that, except being charged £90 a night for the pleasure.. The "cooked" breakfast - was one of the worst i have ever had - reheated bacon, cold sausage, dry egg and warm orange juice. My girlfriend had scrambled eggs and they were inedible..the toast was warm but not properly cooked.. The staff - were poignantly unfriendly, couldn't direct us to the hotel over the phone as they didn't speak good enough English and seemed unaware of the fact they were working in a hotel. The "manager", who was never present, should be wholeheartedly ashamed of this place! Dont stay here!
There was a good breakfast brought to your table with a choice of food. Accommodation was standard, with TV & double bed, everything in working order.
No chair in room.
No hot water for the shower at 6:30 in the morning.
Breakfast first day, good sausage!
Breakfast second day, poor sausage!
I loved the building and the staff was very friendly, and also helpful in giving me directions to navigate Cambridge. My room was cozy and well-equipped, very quiet and a nice retreat from the busy streets of Cambridge during the weekend I stayed.
My only complaint I had was that I had a little trouble finding it with Google Maps, though this may have been error on my part. Once I found it, it was an easy location to remember!
Very helpful owner. Even did us a map so we knew exactly where we were going!
Within 10 minutes walk from river Cam and 15 from city center. Breakfast was quite nice
The room is not that small but there are so many things that quickly it's difficult to walk through. Bathroom is definitely small.
Very small bathroom in single room and shower not particulalry clean Shower in double room not working well
Staff very kindly, good breakfast and near the bus stop
Location, helpful staff, cleanliness, breakfast, comfy room.
No room where you could sit in and meet other guests.
The location and food was excellent.
We found black hairs throughout the bedroom we we're in. This was awful seeing as we were both blonde.
Great location, excellent breakfast, very friendly staff overall excellent experience
Well located, just a 15 min walk along the river right into the heart of the city. Staff pleasant and helpful, nice breakfast. Ideal for a quick in and out visit to the city.
Bathroom very cramped, had to towel off in the bedroom. Soap/shampoo dispenser in shower empty (not discovered untill I was wet) and just the last dreggs of soap in the sink dispenser. The fact that the shower cubicle had to be 'shoe horned' into the bathroom meant it was almost impossible to clean between the shower enclosure and the wall, very mucky. TV screen quite small by todyas standards.
Good location . pleasant staff
Very hard creaky bed. Poor pillows. Dangerous mat at the side of the bed,
The cooked breakfast was really good
The staff were polite but not welcoming. I was out the back in the car park which could be a bit noisy. The toilet/shower room was very small. The lock on the door was inadequate and there should have been a door chain
The location of The Acorn makes it an easy walk through the greens to the city centre. There were three choices for breakfast so you did know what you were getting every day, no surprises. The staff looked after all our concerns and questions in a relaxed and courteous manner. I would stay there again.
It was unseasonably hot when we stayed which made our room very stuffy and hot. A fan was provided but we were asked to not leave it running all night.
comfortable bed. good breakfast Friendly staff
complicated shower no extra facilities
Lack of Wifi code
The whole experience from the time we arrived to the moment we left was excellent. Our bedroom was clean and spacious, beautifull bathroom with shower. and very good breakfast excellent location free parking. within 20mins walk from the town centre
