Situated in the historic city of Cambridge, just 15 minutes' walk from the rail station and University colleges, this charming hotel boasts elegant accommodation and indulgent spa and wellness...
Score from 858 reviews Good
Apart from the said result it would have been the walk through Jesus Park or along the river to and from the City and football ground.
No bad experiences
Excellent stuff with an absolutely perfect behaviour. Fine breakfast and well organised in terms of facilities.
Room was extremely hot
Good location, good breakfast, bedroom was also good and free wi-fi worked well. Overall fit for purpose but.....
The bathroom was a major let down. In addition to being tiny (could not turn round with the door closed), the shower was not much more than a dribble and you had to be careful to avoid scalding or freezing.
The Hotel is a transformed house, and has kept a local, familial size instead of a big hotel.. Breakfast is really nice, traditionnal and homemade. Walls are thin but you don't hear much noises. A bus stop is 2 min (top) walk from there, and take you to the centre in 10 min (top).
We aren't really difficult, so we appreciated everything the hotel have proposed. Maybe the wifi was a bit slow, but you don't really need a good wifi during your holidays.. :)
Room was not very large and shower/toilet cramped
Free WiFi with a good connection speed to the internet.
Had to squat to use the sink due to pitch of roof. Sink drained very slowly(blocked or just poor plumbing) Shower cubicle was very small. Bed was not well made so base sheet came off during night Quilt cover looked old, worn and like it was not clean. Annoying noise from a water tank or something Noise from other residents
Superbly located on Chesterton Road, friendly staff, and a superb full English breakfast. Staff was very understanding when a friend and I stayed late at breakfast talking. No rush.
A few fixtures in the room were flimsy (e.g., dead bulb in the lamp) and it seemed impossible to open the window. Fortunately, I was able to turn down the radiator since the room was overheated.
Our room wasn't joined to the rest of house, the location was good however.
The shower was barely usable, the door to the room had a huge draft passing through it. The bathroom itself was just big enough to turn around in. The person who showed us our room wasn't at all cheery, to be honest I don't think he'd be less happy if he was sat on death row. Also one of the reasons I booked this hotel was because it included free parking.. There were four measly parking bays so I had to park on the road, which wasn't ideal
The Acorn hotel was perfect for what we needed. We were only in Cambridge for 1 night. The room was clean and bed was comfy. TV + free wifi = amazing. The owner was nice and greeted us and gave us a map to the center. 10-15 walk to the center
The shower was a bit tricky. There was no bar soap and the shower soap did not smell good. We were almost done packing up and had 3 minutes until checkout (11am). The woman cleaning the rooms knocked on our door & said 'You need to go'. The owners may want to tell their cleaning crew to be more polite to customers. We thought that was a bit rude.
Location was good, a lovely stroll along the river bank to the city. Room was clean and smart and very comfortable. Breakfast was good, staff friendly & helpful. Would definitely stay again.
Free car parking Location is pretty good; only 15-20 min walk from centre of town Good value for money for Cambridge
Was uncomfortably hot when the heating came on in the morning; but I guess better too hot than too cold and I could easily have opened the window or turned off the radiator (but instead I just slowly roasted as was too lazy to get up)
Bed was comfortable
The shower smelled a bit of stale/standing water
As I needed just a comfortable bed, a shower and a TV, my expectations were fulfilled. Also, it is clean and cosy.
The bathroom was quite small, and the place itself is quite far from the city centre if you want to have a walk. Also, i would think that the idea of B&B is to provide bed and breakfast so why charge extra for breakfast?
the staff of the kitchen were kind
the heating wasnt good enough for a 60 pounds single room should be much better. even the welcoming wasn't good . thats my opinion
Helpful efficient staff. Efficient heating.
Curtain rail not secure, light bulb not working. Breakfast a little 'basic'. No headroom in loo in Room 6A.
excellent breakfast, clean room
small room and small bathroom
The bed was very comfortable. There was tea in the room and cups which was a plus
The bathroom was very small and hard to move around in.

The place were perfect for our trip. Room was with windows to backyard so at night it was silent and in the mornings we had opportunity to enjoy sunsets. And breakfasts was tasty and well prepared.
We did not understand how heating is regulated and it was not very comfortable. Also windows were textured so we had to open them to view the sky. We didn't enjoyed beds one was too hard the other too soft and sheets were just layered blankets so every morning we woke up in a mess.
large room, large bed, friendly welcome, exceptionally clean and excellent breakfast.
Room was standard, bed was comfortable, staff were helpful and told us where to go in the city
There is no sound insulation whatsoever. Our neighbours were being noising well past 2 am on a Tuesday night.
Friendly, efficient staff; warm room; cosy bed; nice TV; nice breakfast; relatively short walk to town centre.
Bathroom quite small; thin walls; loud doors (guests sounding like they were slamming them).
Location? :) It was located out of ear shot of any hussle and bussle and only a ten minute walk along the cam into cambridge Staff were very welcoming and helpful.
The bedding was in my opinion quite ugly however this is a minor niggle. Parking wasnt the easiest however there is a solution for free parking including around 5 bays allocated for customers.
SHOWER SMALL DIFFICULT ACCESS.
