Very good,
Score from 78 reviews
Overlooking the magnificent Douglas Bay, this beautifully refurbished hotel is ideally located in the heart of Douglas, the island’s capital, just a few minutes walk from the ferry terminal. Admiral House Hotel offers a fantastic central location, within walking distance of the island’s financial center as well as the ferry terminal. With the island’s Ronaldsway Airport just a 20 minute drive away, this is arguably one of the best located hotels on the Isle of Man. The hotel is an elegant and popular eating and meeting place, as well as being an excellent multi-purpose complex with a stunning restaurant and top-class accommodations. With spacious rooms and a classic décor, the hotel has an unmistakable feel of a town house. Furnishings and fittings are warm and comfortable, with the grand design approach of the Victorian era respected at the hotel; carefully blended with everything that a top-class hotel requires. Admiral House is a great value, centrally located hotel with a tasty large brekfast. It's location on the promenade is ideal for buses, shops, elec trams etc. Room was large and warm an so was the bathroom. Overall 9½/10 View not brilliant (Room 306) of the back lightwell but not there for the view.

The hotel position was excellent, only a few yards from the ferry terminal and on the front. The communal areas were clean and reception staff helpful. We arrived on a Sunday and found the hotel restaurant closed. We ate in the restaurant on Monday and it was very good, but slightly expensive. The room had not been made up by 4.15pm on Monday. We had to report this to front desk and it was rectified within a few minutes. The cooked breakfast (included) was good, but served on cold plates.

Good stay overall but very noisy at night due to the bar downstairs. Carpets needed cleaning. Staff friendly and looked after us otherwise. Will recommend.

Hotel is located in the city centre which makes Douglas and surroundings very accessible. Rooms are spacious, clean and equipped with everything you need during the short city break (iron, hairdryer, tea, coffee, water, hot chocolate, shampoo, conditioner etc). Staff is friendly and there is an amazing choice of the breakfast (it is included in the room price), which is freshly prepared by local chefs. All in all I had a very pleasant stay in Admiral and I would recommend to anyone. The building itself is a little bit loud, probably due to old construction.

Good size room with splendid sea views. Location convenient for town centre and for transport. Bar in the basement is dingy and has awful pop music and videos. Breakfast (temporarily) in cafe has very cramped tables. Dining room very expensive.

The location was ideal - great sea view, close to shops, restaurants, bus stops, sea terminal, etc. The staff were always very helpful and friendly. Our executive double room was very spacious, with an extra large bed and comfortable seating area. Good cooked breakfasts. There were no major problems, but a number of minor irritants (E.G., the curtains wouldn't close completely, the shower screen didn't fit properly, the safe door scraped the wardrobe frame, one of the bedside light switches was actually behind the bed, the en-suite door squeaked, the tv was pretty old). Overall though, I was still happy with the room.

Easy to find, close to the ferry port and town centre shops,, but far enough away from the town's nightlife to avoid being disturbed by nightime revellers. Clean spacious rooms, good service and friendly staff.

Affordable, good location, friendly helpful staff. Allround it is a good hotel and I would certainly use it again and recommend it to friends. The service for breakfeast was a bit slow on the first morning but on the second morning it was ok.

Big bathroom and comfy bed, smashing views across the bay. Tv not working on arrival, so staff changed tv but didnt bring the new remote control for the new tv. Key cards for room failed 11 times in 5 day stay, Both mine and wife's, hotel staff know its a problem with the system, its reported regulatly in other reviews, but just be prepared to have to go back to reception every second time you try to get into your room, (or carry two cards each). Foreign staff just havent a clue about how to make tea! A mug of luke warm water and a teabag on the side is just not acceptable at breakfast.

Excellent location Friendly and helpful staff Excellent food Upgraded room with no extra charge (from twin to family) Very comfortable beds Many rooms with ugly views No twin rooms or family rooms with a sea view Broken bathroom door handle Some grubby marks on the walls and the carpets Individual pots of tea and coffee at breakfast would be better than sharing a communal flask from the general breakfast table

Very convenient for terminal at pier. Excellent catering - it was good to be able to have a continental breakfast without having the usual pushing of a cooked breakfast. The standard in the restaurant was exceptional = almost Masterchef standard. Our compliments to the chef and staff. Two very minor points - if you didn't hold on to the doors in corridors, etc, they banged behind you! The door in the room to the en-suite needs oil! - It was annoying to the other occupant if you had to use the facilities in the night!

The location is fantastic, parallel to the main shopping street and right on the sea front looking out towards the castle. The rooms are huge and the ceilings nice and high. The communal areas of the hotel have quite a modern feel to them however the décor in the room itself was rather dated and mismatched.

Superb location and view from a very spacious and well equipped bedroom that represented excellent value for money. The breakfast was of good quality. Minor disappointments were that we didn't feel the room was as clean as it should be - the carpet had lots of hair on it and felt dirty. It is a shame that the restaurant used for breakfast is in the basement and therefore feels cold and isolated and doesn't exploit the view.
