Admiral House Hotel12 Loch Promenade, IM1 2LX Douglas (Show map) Very good, Score from 53 reviews“Very convenient for my business appointments. Clean, refurbished rooms. Very stylish public areas.Very helpful receptionist who helped as this was my first visit to Douglas.”
Gillian,
Leeds
Overlooking the magnificent Douglas Bay, this beautifully refurbished hotel is ideally located in the heart of Douglas, the island’s capital, just a few minutes walk from the ferry terminal. Admiral House Hotel offers a fantastic central location, within walking distance of the island’s financial center as well as the ferry terminal. With the island’s Ronaldsway Airport just a 20 minute drive away, this is arguably one of the best located hotels on the Isle of Man. The hotel is an elegant and popular eating and meeting place, as well as being an excellent multi-purpose complex with a stunning restaurant and top-class accommodations. With spacious rooms and a classic décor, the hotel has an unmistakable feel of a town house. Furnishings and fittings are warm and comfortable, with the grand design approach of the Victorian era respected at the hotel; carefully blended with everything that a top-class hotel requires. Location Heating was not on the room and "hot" water was no more than tepid. I asked for this to be resolved before I went out (around 7.15pm) I got back at 11pm and room was still freezing and still no hot water. In the morning, there was hot water but still no heating. Further, there was a fan in the bathroom which, although not working, was still able to spin. Noisely. It was a windy night and the fan spun and moaned constantly. I put a towel over it but to no avail. Worst night's sleep I have had in a long time

My room was fantastic. very clean and spacious. I have fantastic views over Douglas promenade - stunning to wake up to.The breakfast roomwas a bit dingy and a number of the light bulbs were out but the service was brilliant and everything was freahly prepared and well cooked. I would definitely stay again.

The staff at the Admiral House were all very efficient. Breakfast was excellent. The room (201) was very spacious with lovely views over the promenade. The room was cleaned thoroughly every day. The hotel is very convenient for all aspects of transport. One very minor point - the curtains in the room were made of a very thick heavy fabric and it was very difficult to close them properly, also the bathroom could have used a blind or curtain at the window.

Reception staff seemed excellent and very helpful. However there was no hot water and nobody attempted to tell visitors this unless one asked.

The location is fantastic, parallel to the main shopping street and right on the sea front looking out towards the castle. The rooms are huge and the ceilings nice and high. The communal areas of the hotel have quite a modern feel to them however the décor in the room itself was rather dated and mismatched.

Superb location and view from a very spacious and well equipped bedroom that represented excellent value for money. The breakfast was of good quality. Minor disappointments were that we didn't feel the room was as clean as it should be - the carpet had lots of hair on it and felt dirty. It is a shame that the restaurant used for breakfast is in the basement and therefore feels cold and isolated and doesn't exploit the view.

“I liked the brightness of the foyer with the bar and rest areas on both sides, giving the hotel a relaxed but still formal atmosphere. The room I stayed in was perfect for a one night business stay, couldn't ask for more, and the price included breakfast. Good value for money.” Ian, Runcorn |
