Very good,
Score from 155 reviews
“ Room was a good size, shower large and with good pressure. Great not to have to step in to a bath to have a shower. Meals could have been more substantial at JAR. ”
Shirley,
Southland
Overlooking the magnificent Douglas Bay, this beautifully refurbished hotel is ideally located in the heart of Douglas, the island’s capital, just a few minutes walk from the ferry terminal. Admiral House Hotel offers a fantastic central location, within walking distance of the island’s financial center as well as the ferry terminal. With the island’s Ronaldsway Airport just a 20 minute drive away, this is arguably one of the best located hotels on the Isle of Man. The hotel is an elegant and popular eating and meeting place, as well as being an excellent multi-purpose complex with a stunning restaurant and top-class accommodations. With spacious rooms and a classic décor, the hotel has an unmistakable feel of a town house. Furnishings and fittings are warm and comfortable, with the grand design approach of the Victorian era respected at the hotel; carefully blended with everything that a top-class hotel requires. Having a coffee shop on site was great. Breakfast was good and restaurant was bright and welcoming. The room was large with lovely sea views. Entrance hall is a bit dark and old fashioned , it does not reflect the rest of the hotel which is bright and modern.

The staff were very helpful and pleasant. Room was very spacious, lovely king size bed and very clean. Although there is no parking at hotel, this is not a problem, as you can park on the prom for 2 hours at a time and from 6pm put the parking disc to 8am which gives you overnight until 10. The pillows should be dumped. They are the hardest I have ever had in any hotel around the world. The manager should bring a couple home to see for himself.

The hotel is very nice through out, very clean and modern, very nicely decorated, the people are all very friendly tho most of them are eastern European but don't let this put u off as they all speak very good English. The food was very nice tho we only had breakfast there, would say that everything was 100% and I found no faults. We stopped in room 201 which is an amazing room with grate views of the sea front, the workers are very helpfull and friendly and the food is lovely.

The Receptionist was very pleasant and helpful - nothing was too much trouble; the hotel is very clean - our room was spotless and huge; we loved the size of the bathroom and the fact that it had a bath/shower combination; we loved the size of the bed; we were on the 1st Floor so were able to use the stairs to and from our room, which was great. The hotel's location is great - we were able to start our days by walking the entire length of the promenade & back in the mornings; breakfast choices were very good & the waitresses very obliging; the Douglas main shopping area is literally around the corner from the hotel. If you use the ferry, the location of this hotel couldn't be more convenient! It's possible there was something we didn't like, but nothing comes to mind at the moment!

Our executive room was very spacious and bathroom very roomy. Comfortable sofa and chairs, bed super king size and comfortable. Fantastic views all round of the Tower of Refuge and Douglas Bay. Very close to main shopping street, M & S etc but quiet as on promenade side. Staff were friendly and helpful. Lovely Hotel We came down for breakfast but had trouble finding Breakfast dining room. The hotel just need better signage. It would have been better to have individual coffee/tea pots, milk and sugar on tables rather than staff running round filling up. Also the arrangement of the orange, and breakfast cereals could have been better arranged. But the breakfast was very tasty. Could have given more tea, coffee and milk in room. Sounds like I'm being picky but only because I'd like them to enhance a lovely hotel.

Our executive room and bathroom were very ample in size and comfortably furnished, bed was very comfortable. Nice view too. The shower screen leaked at the bottom and flooded the floor every time we used the shower. One of the thermostatic radiator valves would oscillate very loudly so I turned it off completely. Oh and we only got one towel but I'm sure we could have asked for another one.

I spend quite a bit of time in hotels on business, but his was a leisure weekend. The room we were given was large and spacious. A few stains on the carpet were commented on by my wife as she thought I had done them. Still, the view from my executive room was superb. The bed was a superking size and very comfortable. A safe is provided but not used as I felt safe as houses. Lots of seating in the room meant we could sit on a settee rather than on a bed or chair when watching the large flat screen tv. The tv had Sky sports, and was for some reason limited to 5 channels? Not that we were in the room much being so close to the Shopping area and promenade, There is free wifi at a reasonable speed.Would I stay here again. Yes The free wifi wont let you play online games such as eve or wow but you can surf and collect your emails at least.

Location, friendly and helpful reception staff. We had a sea front room, so when weather was bad could stay in the comfort of our room and watch the world go by. Spiral stairs down to the breakfast area - coffee and tea sitting for too long (buffet style) so invariably not hot. Parking a bit of a pain, a 2 hours zone, but appreciate this is not within the control of the hotel.
