Built in 1854, this hotel was once the High School of Stirling. Less than 10 minutes’ walk from the city’s historic castle, it has an AA Rosette-awarded restaurant and free parking.

For the price paid it definately wasn't value for money. Room was old and shabby as was decorating outiside of room. Wallpaper looked like it hadn't been changed in about 30 years.
The Breakfast The gym facilities Staff very helpful
Bit out of the way Need to get better info on public transport to Edi and Glasgow
The room they finally put us in. The facade of the castle--great for photos! The tub in our room in the castle.
The person at reception who was not welcoming or very helpful. The first room in the Mews they tried to put us in. The value for cost.
Our bedroom in the castle was extremely comfortable, especially the bed. It was quiet and secluded. Food was very good. The ambience in the main part of hotel was nice. The staff were friendly and helpful. The surroundings were lovely. The place was easy to find and a good base for visiting local sites.
The kettle in the bedroom had to be placed on the floor to reach the socket. The heating could only be controlled by a member of staff with a spanner. There were no hooks on bathroom or bedroom door for hanging clothes. The pool changing rooms (and locker keys) need updating (not enough space for changing). Just minor issues - overall everything was good
Beautiful food, breakfast was also great.
Scruffy room which made what was supposed to be a luxury night away feel a bit disappointing.
Location Main castle building (not where our room was located) Reception staff
Decor - rooms are very dated and in need of modernisation. Hole in wall, stains on carpet. General repair wasn't great. 'Double bed' was infact 2 singles pushed together so the large seam down the middle made for an uncomfortable sleep. Room service - granted it was 'late night', we ordered a sandwich each and the food was only just edible.
expensive for a run of the mill hotel
We stayed on the top floor of the castle which was quiet and authentic.
A lack of signs to reception confused us and many more visitors.
The hotel was stunning, the staff welcoming and very friendly the rooms lovely, food fantastic - a lovely visit
Nothing to say - we liked everything!!!!
Friendly staff. Lovely hotel.
zero mobile coverage. Attention to detail on housekeeping and maintenance. Up the game on room service
Location Friendly Staff Clean
Wi-Fi was poor and no reception at all in the castle. Room was to hot, no Air Con and the window wouldn't stay up had to put a bin underneath to allow some air flow.
Room in the castle Great breakfast
Lovely grounds and helpful staff.
Very run down needs grand interior to match the amazing building. Pricey place for in its current state
Nice room Comfortable bed
Had to hunt for reception. Not in castle building but 200m away in other buildings along with restaurant. Glad it wasn't raining. Initial reception was too formal, cold and impersonal. Restaurant service was poor with drinks order forgotten and had to finally ask for table to be cleared and desert menu. Room was hot and stuffy on arrival with no window open. Bathroom window would not open at all. No wifi in castle rooms.
The staff was very friendly and the hotel was very clean and well maintained. LOVED that the windows opened up all the way to get air in during the hot summer months.
The beds were slightly hard and you can feel the springs through the mattress.
The castle is very pretty, but the rooms aren't even within sight of it, which is a bit disappointing. Large, comfortable rooms and wide choice at breakfast.
There was a wedding on, not a problem in itself, but in the evening the bar was total chaos: only one, remarkably helpful girl (considering the conditions she was working in) behind the bar, which was where all the glasses were brought for washing (even those from the restaurant) and where single-handedly she was supposed to serve the crowd .
Friendly staff Good food Lovely surroundings
Lack.of information on arrival Stayed in the castle Room very small.felt like a boxroom. Large television on dressing table taking up.most of the top and.mirror
Food was very good and the staff were helpful. Certain problems were rectified at the time, but others needed maintenance or long term fix.
Though very nice, the original room had new beds which were far to high making it difficult to get into. Maybe alright for younger people but not suitable for older guests. Thought needs to be given to medical conditions or disability. Walk in shower had no soap holder/shelf or grab rail. Our room had problems with electrics. Kettle didn't switch off. One bedside light and one plug not working at all. Chairs in lounge badly need refurbishing; some were most uncomfortable. Swimming pool at shallow end had no hand rail to hold on to for safety. Unable to use for this reason. Disappointing that the hotel was not actually a castle at all. The price did not reflect the standard.
Food and staff great
Location nice but can make your stay expensive. Also weddings abound. Not disturbing for us but be aware if this will be a problem for you.
Large rooms in castle.
A bit too warm to sleep and difficult to open windows.
Friendly service particularly in the dining room. Facilities were good but no time to use them Helpful staff when returning late from the games in providing food. Large room with settees Great TV Meals excellent
Wardrobe door not closing (and squeeky) Curtain was very difficult to close. Needed some attention. Lighting in the room not great. On arrival we were able to access our room and told it was ready and clean. There was a layer of dust on the bedside table. Only one biscuit provided (for 2) Box of tissues not renewed when box was empty.
We loved the setting and location. Perfect for the trainn station to get to the Games in Glasgow. The facilities were very good too and we loved the pool. The food was great - we stayed for one evening meal and 2 breakfasts - all were good - as was the service. Falkirk Wheel is a must too.
The lighting in our room was poor. The window did not close very well. The bathroom was a bit tired, although clean. Very noisy Saturday night at 12-2 am due to a large party slamming doors and having arguements.
Stayed recently previous to our stay this time and had no issues so booked again.
The shower in the bath always flooded the floor no matter how you stood in it, had to use the spa for a shower - not ideal.
Staff, sence of history, grounds
Poor Wi-fi, food overpriced and quality only OK. Rooms need AC.
Food Swimming pool Spa
No fridge in room.
