The facilities and staff in the spa were good. The reception staff were incredibly rude. They gave the impression that guests were inconveniencing them by checking in and checking out. There was a turd in the toilet, which would suggest that housekeeping weren't on the ball. The duvet was thin enough to resemble a sheet. The decor was tired and shabby throughout the hotel. When I reported the state of the bathroom to reception I didn't even get an apology, the receptionist could barely raise a shrug. It was the worst service I've ever had in a hotel.

The room price was very reasonable. The beds were comfortable and the room had everything we needed. The pool and spa were also excellent. The hotel seems a little dated and needs some work. The breakfast was quite poor also.

The grounds, nice walks, spa/leisure facilities. Breakfast room staff, only, very accommodating. These are the only good comments I wish to make. My bad complaints, which are genuine, will be in a letter to the General Manager. Issy No complaints about booking with Booking.com. Always been satisfied - complaint is with the Airth Castle Hotel.

The location was perfect for my needs. The food was excellent. The reception staff were a little unfriendly and also kept answering the phone which annoyed me and delayed checkin and checkout. The WiFi was pretty much a waste of time in the room i was in and when i did get a connection it blocked my VPN link. The mobile signal meant i could not use my Vodafone remote connection either. The floorboards in the room above were clearly loose and the noisy occupants of the room made it worse.

Food was ok toilet seat was broken and on the floor. Curtains were in poor condition and did not fully cover windows. Bath had several dark 'divots' on it where it needs to be re surfaced.

The only positive comment I can make is that the breakfast was very impressive and the waiting staff were very friendly. I was disappointed with the majority of my stay, the room was shabby and very run down it looked nothing like the photo on booking.com. The carpet, furniture, walls and fittings were all dirty and very worn and I need of updating. Towels and bedding were not the best. It certainly was not in line with other 4star rated rooms I have stayed in. In my opinion the spa was fine however very small and busy so it was difficult to relax, this was the main reason for my stay. I was charged over 8 pounds for 2 vodka drinks which I feel is unreasonable so much so that I left the hotel in the evening to go else where plus there was a wedding mixed in with other guests which is off putting. The bar lounge was also grubby looking, the upholstery on the chairs we sat in were ripped and tired looking. The hotel has the potential to be impressive however I was extremely unhappy at paying the price tag for a so called 4 star complex.

Bedroom was on ground floor. The room was quite cold even with the heating up full. Had a very poor night's sleep as the room above had squeeky floorboards and the patrons were up frequently at the toilet and rose at 6pm and walked and walked and walked till they left at 8am. We were both tired and got no benefit from our night away.

The room allocated was very very tired looking, indeed if this room had been displayed in the photo gallery of the hotel I wouldn't have booked. Funny how the rooms on the web site are never the one's you are placed in!!

Location King bed made up with two seperate mattresses on top. Super large room with rediculously placed inconvenient power outlets. Unfriendly service at front desk. Breakfast was buffet. Dining room arrangement was such that only one path in and out passed through buffet causing traffic jam among those coming in and leaving while people were trying to fill their plates. The entire place was overdone but didn't deliver. I would call it pretentious. Too bad, it is a nice facility.

Really enjoyed our stay at the hotel but it has some room for improvement .I found it quite bizarre that the public areas of the hotel were in excellent condition but the bedroom was in a very poor state of decoration .If I had half an hour and a couple of pots of paint I could have improved it by an extra star ! The question is , why do they not do this ? Shows a lack of attention to detail which really let them down - could have been so much better

Location - perfect! Had to wait in bar for 30 minutes before we could check-in as computer system was down. No one then came to tell us the system was up and running so we were left waiting. Rooms very run down and in serious need of upgrade. 2 course dinner ok but nothing special. Breakfast was a buffett and food wasn't replenished quickly - went without some of the hot choices as they were empty with no sign of being restocked.

The food at dinner and breakfast was very good and there is no doubt that the stay was value for money. The bedrooms really could do with a refurbishment. Quite tired and dated, although clean. And the covers on the beds were thread bare! Also, I dont think it is made clear enough that although this is called Airth castle, and the pictures in advertising show the castel - there are no actual bedrooms in the castle - you stay in a flat roof concrete block in the grounds.

The spa was lovely, very clean and reasonably priced. Staff were very helpful and polite. Upon arrival we were allocated a room in the 'new' converted steadings. This room was disgraceful. It smelled of smoke, had marks all over the Walls and resembled a poor quality travel lodge. I complained and was moved to a much nicer room in the castle itself.

lovely location Asked two waiters for a drink but when i told them it was to be charged to my room they just ignored me also you are unable to go to bar directly, i assume they were looking for cash only customers. Our room had water pouring into it from room above; i thought a complimentary drink would have been professional but nothing. These are negatives but on the whole i would go back and recommend to friends.
