Score from 210 reviews Very good
Poor heating in room Queues for dinner Unapologetic attitude Expensive for what it was. Premier Inn standard at a high price
Great location for a break. Stayed for 1 night. Facilities were superb, staff attentive, meal very tasty, room comfortable and grounds well maintained (and well established). One of the best.
Nothing to report.
Gym and food
Very slow wifi connection
Grounds swimming pool
Waiting staff slow - number of errors. Wi-fi poor signal stength
The staff were lovely , polite and very helpful especially as we asked to change our room. Breakfast was excellent with a choice off the menu and hot and cold buffet. Would go again when we next visit Shrewsbury .
If I had to pick on something , the bar area is quite small for eating in .
Great bed, very comfortable
Food - Stale bread on sandwiches when recieved room service Heavy dust on the net curtains when opened, need a good clean or replacing Tired rooms / bathrooms
Location & grounds
Not smoker friendly
We felt welcomed, comfortable and relaxed. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff.
External access to the bedrooms via the lift from the main building in inclement weather to avoid stairs due to a walking problem
The hotel is beautiful, the grounds are lovely, the evening menu is great and the food superb. The buffet breakfast was plenty and the staff were very attentive.
The fact that as there was a wedding on, had to go outside in the torrential rain to get to restaurant, not pleasant
I loved the peace of the resort
No top sheet on the beds
Excellent breakfast. Quality, range and service was first class.
Two single beds pushed together does not constitute a double bed. There was a gap in the middle. Avoid room 80 for that reason.
Hotel had great character and felt very relaxed. The pool and gym facilities were excellent. All the staff were friendly and always willing to help. The breakfast was good, enough choice for everyone and prompt service. Close enough to Shrewsbury to use your car or get a taxi, only a 5 minute drive away.
My room was a little small but sufficient. The bed was too soft and too warm on one evening, it was difficult to balance to temperature without using the fan supplied. Would have been better with a Summer duvet or just a top sheet.
location excelent. food excelent. staff very polite and plesant. it so tranquill and quiet in the grounds very little noise from the road .both had realy good nights sleep, would recomend this hotel to our friends.
Friendly service at reception and the bar area. Very clean throughout the hotel. Setting beautiful.
Breakfast - started at 06.30, although no cooked food until 06.45. Even though I was first up to the servery, the eggs were only warm, and the beans tepid.
A very comfortable room with a huge (!!) extra king sized bed giving the best nights' sleep I have had for a while. An excellent quiet location. Staff very helpful.
Nothing serious. Wi-Fi a bit slow. Mobile phone signal poor (not your fault!!) Breakfast very good but exactly the same each day.
Grounds, pool and excellent breakfast - provision of an umbrella to cross to main building for meals etc a nice thought
Cost of drinks and meals , wifi poor, noise of lorrys delivering etc we were on ground floor of headmasters building
The staff were so friendly and attentive with a real "can do" attitude. Nothing was too much for them even during a busy bank holiday breakfast time they were able to accommodative personal preferences. The room was quiet even with a large wedding reception in progress during our stay. The spa facilities were fantastic with the staff equally friendly attentive and courteous. We had a really fantastic stay worth every penny. Will definitely stay again (after some serious saving lol).
Having to pay extra for wi-fi connection (which I decided not to opt for). The food prices in the restaurant and bar were a little expensive but probably exceptable for this quality of establishment.
A fantastic hotel thank you. The service is excellent, especially the bar, thank you Emily you made our week ;-)
WiFi, needs to be upgraded.
Location and grounds were fantastic. Room was very impressive, clean and comfy. Unfortunately I didn't get an opportunity to experience the 'leisure' side of the hotel.
WIFI was hit and miss. Paid up front for a week but only stayed one night due to work commitments changing. Was refused a refund for any part of the rest of the week. Made it a very very expensive one night stay.
Room & customer service
Wifi was difficult to get onto
Pretty building and grounds. Able to eat in the lounge bar area for a relaxed casual evening.
Staff helped us change room. Evening dining was enjoyable.
Ridiculous bar price's and poor wi fi in both coverage and quality of signal
Room,in fact all facilities
Price at the bar and breakfast price over the top.booking with breakfast £105 without £62 that means £43 for 2 breakfasts i dont think so
All but one member of staff were friendly happy and more than willing to help. Food was good, room was excellent and well maintained
We stayed two nights both nights the hotel also catered for wedding parties On the second night the bar was taken over by wedding guests a number who were drunk and loud. Throughout the night sporadic druken voices woke us. From two in the morning until about three thirty we were both disturbed by loud voices from the smoking area outside the bar. When I informed the hotel reception the following morning I was informed that I should have called the night porter to report it. The night Porter was stationed closer to the drunken people than our room and clearly would have heard this. The receptionist said she thought it strange that we were woken as most wedding parties finished about 1230 am! The statement suggests she didn't believe our complaint. She said she would inform the night porter of my complaint. In a conversation later that day with a long term member of staff they stated that this is a weekly complaint from guests and that nothing is done to change this situation. Had we paid one hundred pounds for a two night stay in a travel lodge I would take this on the chin, however we spent three hundred and ninety pounds for a two night stay in a relaxing spa hotel. Clearly their priority appears to be catering for weddings and other guests needs are overlooked. A real shame as the majority of staff are very courteous and the accommodation is great.
