Room size and location. Breakfast was good Although we had booked a twin room we were given a double as the hotel said that the information requesting a twin was not passed on to them However, it was no trouble to swap us to a twin room which was in a nicer location and a better room overall. The spa area was very tired looking and appeared grimy particularly around the pool, hot tub and 'experience' showers. Some floor tiles were missing leaving raised or sharp edges. There were alot of children in the 'lane swimming' area of the pool in spite of the signs and no staffa round to encourage them to keep to one side to allow others to be able to swim.

Everything was just perfect, frosty weather made it a postcard setting and the historic building just added to the atmosphere. We are five college friends who meet up twice a year, once in this country and once in Europe. It is our first Mercure Hotel and we will definately book with your company again. Thank you again Shrewsbury for a warm and wonderful 'girlie break!!'

A good location for a girls get together. Staff are very friendly and tried to sort out problems when informed. The evening meal was wonderful and breakfast good too. Rooms pleasant and clean Having stayed last year things have changed a little. It seems more family orientated now which didn't fit to our relaxing girls weekend away from the kids! The room signage in the new wing left us v confused as you have to go up in the lift and then down the stairs??! With heavy bags it's quite a way! As the hotel seems busier they also seem to be making silly mistakes with communication, giving a knock on effect of being a little disorganised. Our room wasn't ready on the Sat even though I had been staying the night before and communicated all our needs.....

facilities were fantastic and staff very helpful bar prices were far too high as were prices of food in the bar. If prices were dropped you would sell more and make just as much profit if not more. Fifteen pounds for a breakfast was going a bit to far

Everything! - The venue, the landscape, how friendly the staff were, the food was delicious and especially how easy everything seemed to feel. The only negative thing that I can mention is the lack of availability for massages etc, When we asked to book a head and neck massage we were told they were extremely busy and we should aim to book one week in advance and as we lived 3 hours away it would be impossible for us to return for another date.

We were pleased that our room was in the old part of the hall. The food was very good and the service attentive. The hotel grounds were smaller than we were expecting.

Lovely and quiet just what we wanted and near enough to shrewsbury to go shopping :) the food.........AMAZING! The only minor issue we had was we went for lunch in the bar one day and was left waiting for our cutlery so when I went to ask for some from another member of staff, the young man named Sam asked me what I wanted cutlery for? cannot fault the rest of the staff they were amazing but i think the young man forgot where he was for a minute - got the cutlery very soon after - other than that service was spot on and the food.........AMAZING!

The food was good and the venue of a reasonably high standard. The staff were very pleasant and helpful but we felt there needed to be more of them as service was slow, particularly in the bar area.

The staff were exceptional. The venue was overall very good and the Spa facilities we better and easier to use than expected. The room had no air conditioning (due to it being a listed building apparently) and during the 48 hours at the hotel the maintenance staff failed to fix the cold tap on the bathroom sink despite being advised within the first few hours.

Laura on Reception was very pleasant and arranged for Dressing gowns to be delivered to our room, as I was dissapointed to find although a Superior/Deluxe Room had been booked they were not included. The Leisure Staff were very good as were the Staff in the Dining Room at Breakfast. We had booked Afternoon Tea, again the Staff were very good especially when I asked if we could sit at a different table other than the one already laid up for us. On arriving at the Hotel to book in the Receptionist acknowledged us but carried on with her previous task. Meeting a fellow guest on the stairs with a very big Alsatian dog!

“We arrived very late and very tired on a Friday night. The bar staff were very friendly and obliging. The room was pristine, very spacious and newly decorated and furnished with its own kitchen. The owner was exceptionally friendly and helpful. When one of our group was stranded at the station at midnight he promptly went to pick them up himself regardless of the late hour and work he still ahd to do. Itw as a gesture that we really appreciated and we will certainly be staying at the Corbet Arms again!” Gina, Chelmsford |
