The hotel is set in very pleasant and quiet surroundings. The executive bedroom was well appointed and we were able to enjoy a garden view. All staff were courteous ad efficient.

Peace and quiet. Not having breakfast in with the price and the cost of breakfast. Far too expensive.

The room was very comfortable and the staff were nice and friendly. There was banging outside the room for most of the night. Considering how much a room is the wifi access needs to be free.

Excellent hotel with lovely staff. Very good value for money and probably the best hotel breakfast we have ever had. Looking forward to using the hotel again.

Staff friendliness, nothing was too much trouble. Spa & leisure facilities excellent. Quality of food good...location lovely...beds comfortable... Breakfast price of £15 was expensive and added £150 to my final bill.. Dinner in the restaurant sat night was ruined by 2 rowdy, rude tables of women, singing & shouting to waiter-a member of staff should have dealt with the situation-the bathroom in our room, 64, was shabby, with dirty old grouting...and mini-bar was empty, would have expected a full selection of drinks & snacks for a 4 star hotel...

booking in staff very helpful when arriving and departiing was briskly told where to play with children in pool by presumably not guests but spa members if there was a protocol would have been nice to have been told beforehand. drop off point to save walking with bags and children to reception may not seem far but with baggage and children a treck

Ice room in the spa. Having credit card charges made to my account without my permission. Staying in a four star hotel that empties bottles into bins outside guests rooms at midnight. The lowest priced bottle of wine in the restaurant was £30 and average in quality. Not being advised that breakfast was an additional charge. Being given a room that looked like the previous occupants had a food fight in there and it being a furnace because all the heating had been turned up to dry it out. Advertising cocktails and not being able to make them.

After asking if i could be moved because i wasn't happy with the room "due to a personal phobia NOT the hotel's fault" The manager could not of been kinder and more helpful and moved us at no extra charge. Paid £9 for 24 hour wi fi which was very poor but i find this the case with most hotels.

The hotel, gym Rooms & hotel was too hot (someone forgot to turn the boiler down after the snow?) Noisy banging/knocking heating pipes that woke us at 5.30 & kept knocking/keeping us awake, in the masters house room 39. Over priced breakfast at £15!!

Lovely spa facilities and grounds Rather impersonal reception. This was my first stay at a Mercure, this was obviously a busy weekend for the hotel and I felt that the customer care was efficient.

Absolutely everything! We had the most wonderful stay at the Mercure Shrewsbury and look forward to returning. One small criticism would be that carpeting on stairway, leading up to our room, could be replaced.

Friendly staff. The upgrade to a 'Privilege' room was worth it (Four poster bed, 'Nespesso' coffee machine, free newspaper and minibar) The Spa was very disappointing - most of the steam/sauna facilities were not working. The ones that were, were luke warm. The pool was freezing! The staff informed us that it was a temporary issue but regular spa members told us that this 'temporary issue' had been going on for at least a year. No-one from the hotel contacted us before our stay to inform us of this problem. After all, we booked this hotel specifically as it had Spa facilities. When we booked out I mentioned this and suggested that the cost of the room upgrade be taken off the final bill (2 x £20 P.n). This was agreed by the management. Overall, this was a lovely hotel and good value for money, but if it is a Spa hotel you are looking for, ask about the facilities first. Either that or think about another hotel (Premier Inn has just opened in Shrewsbury town centre).

Good location; extensive grounds; large and comfortable room; spa facilities (but see opposite). The spa areas and the water in the swimming pool were far too cold; our bathroom was very big and looked refurbished but was heated by only a towel rail so was too cold; we didnt fancy the restraunt so the menu could have been more appealling

The staff were extremely friendly right from the moment we got out of the car, they were very welcoming to ourselves & young daughter. The room was spacious & comfortable, breakfast was yummy with lots of choice. There were different wings to the building meaning we had to go outside to get to our room & the spa. We found a way inside eventually but it involved lots of stairs (2 yr old didn't like the lift)

Staff were friendly and helpful. Well worth dining at the hotel restaurant. Were informed on arrival that some of the spa facilities were out of order, when entering the pool area a local member of the club informed us that the thermal suite hadnt been working for months? Some areas looked a little tired. Bedroom was clean but also looked a little worn, glass wardrobe door was broken and neally fell on me, not the greatest first impression.
