Very friendly welcome, lovely breakfast and very nice house.

Slight awkwardness of getting out of the bed in Room 5 - there is an 'foot board' on the bed but it is also up against a wall so it's tricky to get out if you are on the wall side. Should be a bed with no 'foot board'.

The service was first class.

I booked our stay as a surprise for my boyfriend's birthday - We had a very friendly welcome from Darren, and have never had such good service in a B&B. Our room was very clean, large and beautifully but simply decorated. The location was a short walk from York city centre through some lovely gardens, and the quiet location meant we could really relax in our room. Would thoroughly recommend to others.

Very welcoming and helpful host, who went to considerable trouble in making my stay as enjoyable as possible. Very nice room, clean and well maintained. Very good wifi. The host was happy to accommodate a special diet. Communication from the host prior to the visit was outstanding. Highly recommended accommodation.

Saturday evening in York had plenty of loud drunken groups wandering around, some individuals were aggressive.

Lovely welcome, very helpful.Room we stayed in was nice and big the ensuite was very nice - excellent shower. The cooked breakfast was lovely. Would definitely stay here again.

Made very welcome and Darren was a mind full of information when it came to York. Alcuin Lodge is a very comfortable, clean place to stay and serves a very nice breakfast too. Great location being only 10 minutes from all visitor attractions. Another plus is car parking outside the guest house with permit supplied.

We really enjoyed our stay at alcuin lodge.darren the host was very accomadating and was full of useful info about the best places to go in york.the room was spotless and tastefully drcorated.i would recomend this b&b to anyone!

Its only a minor thing but the tv in the room was tiny.also at times the room and the breakfast room were abit cold.but these are very small picking points.alcuin lodge is a brilliant place to stay

Darren was an excellent host. He was flexible with our late check-in time and very responsive to our pre-visit questions. He also made some more great suggestions once we arrived about places to eat and how to get to different places. The room was comfortable and breakfast was delicious. The location is outstanding. I would not hesistate to stay here again.

Darren the owner was very friendly and most helpful regarding opening times and phone numbers. The guest house is close to the centre of the city. Definitely stay here again.

This is the most beautiful guest house i have ever stayed in. Darren the owner was so welcoming and his home is amazingly clean and pristine. We stayed for my husbands 40th birthday and couldnt have found anywhere better. The bedroom was very warm and cosy with views out over york, the bed was very comfy and the bathroom well appointed. The Alcuin Lodge is only a 5 minute walk into the centre of York along the river or through the museum gardens. Darrens knowledge of York was a great help with recommendations of places to visit and great restaurants. I have already passed on the details of the Alcuin Lodge to friends who are looking to stay in York and i would most definatly stay here again.
