We stayed there for a family wedding that actually took place in the hotel. It was a perfect day, the staff were excelent and very attentive. The food was really really good and the room looked lovely. We stayed on for an extra night and had a really excelent meal in their restaurant and a day out in York ( about 50 mins drive, with a very good park and ride) all in all a lovely weekend. The website was good at showing you pictures of the rooms etc but didn't tell you if there was a hairdryer etc.

The Hotel is one of few in Batley making choice limited. It is reasonably well situated in its own grounds with reasonable parking. We arrived on Sunday 25th December 2011 as planned. We had attended family functions at the hotel previously and were expecting to stay in a well run hotel. The Hotel promotes itself as the Pride of Batley. The staff were fairly pleasant on arrival but ineffeicient. They experienced difficulty in finding our booking and processing our payment which was required immediately on arrival with two members of staff having to assist each other. We were provided with only one set of towels in a double room booked for two people which we only noticed on the morning after our arrival. We asked for additional towels on Monday 26th December 2011. They were not provided until after we had left for the day. On our return an additional set of towels had been placed on our bed. The original set of wet towels had not been replaced. The bed had not been made . Tea and Coffee etc had not been replaced. The room was cold on arrival which we complained about and this was resolved quickly and satisfactorily. The attitude of staff was generally fairly polite but not very welcoming.

It is a small, friendly hotel that serves its purpose well. It is well located for the local shops, outlet shopping centre, train station and a variety of good food establishments, bars, and nightlife. The executive room (room 18) was clean, comfortable and the bed was extremely comfortable -I would not hesitate in re-booking to stay there in the near future just to enable me another excellent night's sleep in that bed!

Friendly staff. Food good and willingness to prepare meals not on the menu. Bedroom decor was a little "tired" and rail fell off in wardrobe when I hung my jacket up. WiFi which was advertised throughout the hotel was in fact only in reception area.

On arrival there was confusion as to which room I had been allocated. Clearly the room given had not been prepared as there was no heating on. The guy who showed me to the room said he would get someone tolook at it but didn'T. A little while after a huge wasp was flying around in the room and in an endeavour to get ride of it the light bulb fell out of the ceiling light. I reported this to the reception and the guy who showed me to my room came up with me and sorted out the light. The wasp was not to be found. He then decided to turn the heating on. For my evening meal I ordered a dish with chips, only to find that the meal had not chips but instead sort of roast potatoes. The next morning I found that the shower would only provide very cold water. I was offered a shower in another room being converted. Whilst hot water was available, I found it amlost impossible to get anything in between scalding and very cold. Other observations: The door on the wardrobe is almost falling off, there was no tumbler for use by the sink; the furniture has seen much better days, and the shower in my room had a lot of black mildue arouond the base. Not a pelasant visit.

The location based on our business trip was excellent. A lot better than staying in a Premier Inn or likewise that doesn't offer a warm/friendly service. The hotel was excellent, both in staff courtesy & cleanliness. Would use again & recommend highly. Many Thanks for an enjoyable stay. Couldn't fault it. Did exactly what I booked it for (overnight stay). Comfortable room, excellent evening meal & breakfast the next morning. Can't find fault if there isn't any.

We were guests at a wedding held in the hotel. We found the hotel to be very friendly and comfortable. The staff were very welcoming and availble to help with luggage and sorting out the IT facilities. The wedding was very relaxed with lovely grounds for the photographs. We will certainly stay at the hotel if we are in the area again and recommend it to all our friends.

To be fair to the hotel, the rate was extremely good. My friend and I stayed in a twin room, Friday and Saturday night and the whole bill only came to £90 b&B. From that point of view, I would recommend the hotel to others and I would definitely stay in the hotel. The rate also included a full english breakfast, which I have to say I couldn't fault at all. All in all, we had a very pleasant stay. On the downside, the staff seemed a little 'trance like' and had no sense of urgency. Also the rooms were a little dated and I woke up freezing on the first morning. We were in a room on the ground floor, next to the room where they hold weddings and the corridor that led to our room was full of tables and chairs piled up in the walkway. If I'd been there for romance or relaxation, I may have thought about complaining about this but to be honest, we hardly spent any time there and for that, it served a great purpose.

The hotel is tucked away at the back of a residential area but is well signposted from the main road. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and helpful. Close enough to the Poderosa Lakeside Restaurant where we were attending a Ball. Beds very comfortable. Breakfast very nice and at good times so and as we did not get in umtil 02.30 we did not have to get up too early and check out time 11am so not too rushed to get up and leave in the morning after our late night out. Would probably stay again if it was just for a one night. The bedroom furnishings and decor very dated and not a lot of space. Tea and coffee in the rooms but the cups very small - more like coffee cups, so not ideal for those of us who like a nice big mug of tea. Room lights very dull - not ideal for ladies getting made up for their night out. There was a bedside lamp but with a round plug which did not fit the socket. We asked for a replacement lamp which was promptly provided but it was very scruffy and dusty; was not very bright and we had to pull one of the beds out to switch it on and off at the socket. The shower quite old and not very strong jets.

The staff and friendly service. They were all most attentive and carried my case to the room which was good. The food was also really good and I hadn't expected such a good menu or the small bar beforehand. I think you have really good value for money, excellent service and would not hesitate to recommend or stay there again. I would like the TV to be raised higher in the room as it is hard to see when you are in bed. It could just be put up on a plinth of some sort. The room was in good decorative order. For some travellers maybe the ability to buy shampoo on site would be useful although I took my own anyway.
