The room was lovely. Good period proportions and comfy bed. Breakfasts were really good. All the staff except the first rude young woman on reception (see dislikes) were really pleasant and friendly. Great location for walking down to Alderley Edge for dinner.
The young woman who 'greeted' us when we first arrived was really rude (dark hair in a pony tail) just telling us that we couldn't check in, but offering nowhere to sit and wait for the 10 minutes until check-in (we went back out to the car). If you think that customers are a nuisance you shouldn't work in the hospitality business. Having the cleaning staff area right outside our door was noisy. We didn't realise in advance that there would be a disco just downstairs until midnight on both nights, so the boom boom of the music wasn't great.
Having to leave
room, location, food, comfort
Christmas party until midnight. Loud music. Not good for early morning flight.
Ive stayed here a number of times on business and leisure. The front desk courteous and polite, the rooms spacious , clean and airy. The highlight ..the restaurant, attentive staff good food and nice atmosphere. Well worth a visit.
Restaurant, expensive but worth it.
Attentive staff, pleasant atmosphere in the brasserie. Food was excellent and beautifully presented. Breakfast also very good. Room very comfortable, thoughtfully positioned away from large business group. Lots of toiletries in the well fitted bathroom.
The main restaurant menu was less appealing than the brasserie, which is why we chose the latter. We were conscious of a hum in our room during the night, which we suspect was from external a/c units.
Had a lovely Christmas shopping trip away, great atmosphere.
Very friendly staff and good food.
easy to walk into the village bar area great Room was amazing
bit pricey however i suppose you get what you pay for
Traditional surroundings friendly well trained staff
Dusty furniture, expensive breakfast although lovely, room awkward to move around due to large furniture items in a relatively small room - partner repeatedly knocked his legs moving around the room
Staff were friendly and the room was neat. The place itself was nice. Free parking.
The room was really cold! The fake flowers vase was full of dust
Good location. Room pleasant and clean
I liked the area of the hotel until hearing loud shouting from the next house going down towards the Main Street this carried on until the early hours of the morning terrible nights sleep
Managed to get a superior room on offer, and it's well worth paying the extra £20 for the extra space and comfort you get. A very large group were staying, for my daughter's wedding at Capesthorne Hall, and we found the hotel was very good, staff were very friendly and helpful. Definitely stay there again :)
Some of our group in standard double rooms felt they were a little lacking in space.
+ Pretty surroundings + In a lovely village
+ Website pictures were misleading. The rooms shown are clearly 'superior rooms'. The double room we stayed in had water marks on the ceiling, was quite dark and had slightly tatty bedlinen. + Breakfast was very disappointing. Took over 10 minutes for toast to arrive (and then it was cold) and there were no pastries available at 9.30am (even though breakfast officially ran until 10am).
Well kept accommodation, tasteful country decor with comfortable bed. Walking distance to restaurants and bars plus good hotel bar. Room was a small double but the amenities compensated for that.
Room was very clean and looked like it had recently been renovated.
My room (10), was next to the kitchen, so all night there was constant pots and pans banging etc. I had the window open, and at 11:30 the chef (Shaun/ Sean) stood right outside ordering all his food for the next day. I felt that for the cost of the room, the quality of sleep was very poor. I had an early depart and explained when settling the bill that I wasn't impressed but there was no interest.
Got us sandwiches as arrived late
No coffee making facilities in room or even a glass to get water from the tap. Walls very thin.
breakfast bed proximity to airport bathroom
room was hot (42 C) and stuffy...no a/c...we opened the window to noise from a wedding and smells from the kitchen. Private function taking place...no place to park and no help from staff
Nice accomodations, good breakfast, close to town, food, and train station. Had both plugs for UK and USA appliances.
My room (420) had a unrestricted view of the well kept and colourful garden. A quiet venue with friendly staff and service. Food selection was from snack to Brasserie to 5/7/9 course meal with a wine flight which is enjoyable unless you are planning to write your presentation afterwards (not recommended of course). Free WiFi important. Substantial breakfast options. Not too far from woods for an off-road run. For business purposes it was ideal. Although there wasn't any heating on the room was warm. Keeping the windows open wasn't a problem as it overlooked the garden and so was quiet.
At £145 per night, I didn't think the room was value for money but it was a very late booking and so we didn't get the best price perhaps. As it was for business I had no choice as location helped my decision. Were it my own money I would have to think twice. My room (420) appeared small and dark mainly due to old fashioned furniture (dark stained and wooden) which dominated the room. Not a complaint but an observation that some modernisation will brighten up the room. Put in perspective, it wouldn't prevent me returning or recommending.
Pleasant room nicely furnished,Comfortable. Food excellent. Staff helpful, would visit hotel again.
No lounge, had to have pre dinner drinks at table used for bar meals. Had to have after dinner coffee at dinning table. Would have preferred room with view of Garden which was pleasant and well maintained.
This was a present for my sister who had been married that day and couldn't fault the service we received when checking them in or whilst they were staying there
The room and organisation
The squeaky floorboards on the landing and adjoining rooms
