Score from 53 reviews Very good
I have booked the room just for 1 night to escape the Central London where we live and celebrate my wife Birthday. The hotel location, facilities ( the Utopia Spa in particular ) are very nice and the staff is very helpful. We also enjoyed the Mediterranean massage in the spa, so the spa is highly recommended.
The so called Blenheim Suite, where we stayed, is located in the old part of the building, somehere under the roof, which is quite difficult to find ( spent about 15 min wandering around the hotel, wearing only bathroom robes after the spa) and accessiable only by narrow spiral staircase. The headspace is tight on the staircase, hit my head on the ceiling ( I am an average 6ft man ) and the hight of the ceilings in the room is only about 2m, so one may feel claustrophobic. There is no any kind of fridge in the room, which is also not really 5 * experience.
The lounge/bar staff, the restaurant staff were particular excellent and took great care of every person in our party and out outside guests. It was extraordinary.
Pool not open for kids
Staff is very helpful and kind. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Garden is beautiful and peaceful. Overall, it is a very charming hotel.
As it is an old building, you can hear noisy guests easily. But the staff was very helpful by making a kind warning to the noisy guests in the room opposite.
Very friendly, helpful staff Superb setting
Outstanding food within a very relaxed atmosphere allowing one to indulge in sheer relaxation from the spa to the immaculate gardens and surrounds. I would highly recommend Alexander House Hotel and Utopia Spa to anyone looking for that little bit more.
It was expensive but worth it. We only stayed one night but the staff were great as was the spa
That we couldn't afford to stay more than one night :(
Breakfast and light lunch. Excellent Spa and Pool area.
No fridge in room for 4 day stay.... Half of bathroom lights out. No reading lights by bed. No shelf / storage near or under basins.
We arrived to our room not being ready so had a lovely lunch on the terrace .
Very dissappointed We were put in the roof by the fire door, which kept us awake by the door banging it was the start of our honeymoon which the hotel was notified but gave us the worst room in the hotel. When we arrived our room was not ready so we had lunch on the terrace, lovely lunch service a little slow though. Enjoyed the break a little disappointed with the hotel
The food in the fine dining was excellent
The bedroom remained very warm despite the air conditioning
Sommelier at AGs was awesome. Treatments at spa were lovely.
Room service breakfast order wrong - twice, despite calling to correct. Girl delivering was very sulky when we asked to keep the plate covers to keep our food warm. Spa horribly noisy. Not relaxing at all. More like a water park. A particularly noisy hen party of around 20 women. When we asked the manager to perhaps suggest they be a bit quieter and respect the other guests he nodded, smiled and did absolutely nothing. We left after 15mins. Ruined one of the reasons for choosing this hotel.
staff very welcoming and accomodating and helpful comfortable beds
massively overpriced standard rooms are very average - even have standalone wardrobes like IKEA drinks are incredibly expensive dinner expensive for what it is spa is ordinary no wifi in spa not much to do unless you want to swim
The grounds are beautiful, the house very well kept.
The kitchen service during breakfast and lunch was just too slow, unbearably painfully slow... Sometimes it would take up to 45 min to bring out a dish. Room service 45-60 min... Wifi in the rooms was very weak, could not use it. The heating temperature is not automatically regulated.
Excellent location and facilities.
Unhelpful staff, we were not welcomed or greeted warmly. Slow and bad service at the hotel restaurants.
The spa was beautiful the staff where friendly the food was amazing
The cleanses of the room and the spa weren't great the spa had pots of food at the side of it, the shower in our room had black hair in when mentioned staff apologised. The bed weren't to comfy
Stunning location Fantastic spa facilities Friendly staff
AG restaurant: food was not great and very expensive for the quality Restaurant staff provided poor service
Everything was just amazing about the whole stay.
The wine list aw sent value for money
Very friendly and helpful staff
The staff were amazing and couldn't do enough to help. Very pleased with the stay, just wish we could have stayed longer
everything was perfect!
A beautiful hotel, lovely staff and the spa was really nice, epically the outdoor hot tub.
The hotel was overrun with Gypsys. A big fat gypsy wedding, generally vulgar onsie wearing chavs all over the hotel.
Not good value for money, difficulty moving around the room, overlooking kitchens, noisey in the mornings. Windows were not double glazed therefor water laid on the window sills.Bathroom, nowhere to put toiletries as window sills always wet. Sink plug not connected to chain. Nowhere to sit and apply makeup in bedroom.
To be fair the whole stay was let down by total incompetence, bad management and unhelpful/useless staff.
Ordering lunch at the bar but finding out it was incorrectly delivered to our room and when finally arrived with us it was cold, we then received a £28 service charge for this. We had a bottle of champagne delivered to the room my wife couldn't open and asked for assistance but the room service couldn't open so charged her another £135 for another bottle. The list goes on.......
