Alexander House is certainly one of the best hotels for charm, style and relaxed elegance to be experienced anywhere. If a guest was looking for an example of an English Country House hotel Alexander House must be one of the finest. From turning into the gravel drive, to being greeted and shown around the marvellous house set in beautiful gardens and surrounded by the wonderful English countryside, a guest is immersed in a mix of old world charm and contemporary luxury. The new wing and Spa have been blended well with the old house and provide guests with all they could wish for in the way of relaxation and wellbeing during their stay. Staff, service, food and facilities were first class. Care is obviously being taken to maintain standards and cater for guests needs. The owners / management obviously take a pride in Alexander House and it shows. For a relaxed stay in superb settings away from the hustle and bustle but within easy reach of major attractions, Alexander House is ideal. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and would highly recommend it to anyone. My only regret is my stay was not long enough. I would definitely use Alexander House again. Thank you, P Traynor, Manchester, England, August 2011.

Had an excellent stay. Had a Junior Suite which was large and luxurious. Facilities are 1st class and the swimming pool has to be seen to be believed. Staff are enthusiastic, friendly and helpful. Highly recomend Had a problem with the heating in the room. Was an attempt to correct it which was unsuccessful.

I did like the setting and the grounds. I realy enjoyed the breakfast althought the coffee tended to be luke warm The staff serving the breakfast were excellant. The receptionstaff were very helpfu. The room was far too hot and I could not get an internet connection. There should be a leaflet explaining about how to get a connection if you are haivng difficulties also a bit of a reminder that if you want to use the spa you need to bring your own swimming costume which I completely forgot.

Beautiful location, fabulous grounds, excellent spa facitlities, great breakfast, lunch and dinner. The service on the day of our departure was very poor but we believe this was due to lack of staff at a very busy time perhaps and it certainly didn't put us off using the hotel again.

Beautiful hotel and grounds Food was disappointing and ruined our overall impresiion on our last day, half whole egg shell in poached egg and not even an apology received. We had visited for our mini moon as honeymoon in 2012.

I booked this hotel for a relaxing break for my sisters 30th birthday. We arrived quite late and was greeted by a friendly member of staff called Chris. He showed us to our room which was in the old part of the building. Very nice room, although I'm not sure if the room had been entirely finished when cleaning as the bed cushions and throw weren't on the bed abductee was a tissue on the floor, however it didn't matter. Everything we needed was in the room. We went down to the bar to celebrate and have some drinks, however we both only had 1 cocktail each as they were very strong, yet extremely yummy!!! Bar could of done with a little music. The shower was quite hot for me so I had to use the handheld shower where I could change the temperature. There was plenty to choose from at breakfast and they even supplied soya milk and decaf tea. Not always that easy when I go away. After breakfast we went and used the tennis court for an hour with an outside tennis coach. This was perfect just before our relaxation in the spa. The spa area was clean and tidy, modern tasteful decor. As we went into the spa area at around 12 we were the only ones in there. It was lovely, just perfect! There were even straightening irons in the changing room. The only thing I would say that there wasn't really anywhere to get changed, only one bench and no cubicles. The hotel over all was beautiful, lovely surroundings. If you like using the gym it was empty when we looked. Good equipment and looked spotless. The staff at this hotel were extremely friendly, helpful and approachable. This is the kind of service that you would expect from 5 star. I have a very high expectation when it comes to service and other places I have been to have not met the mark but this place did. Although I believe it shouldn't matter what star a hotel is as service is always part of the job. I would definitely go back at no hesitation, maybe for longer next time, or at least arrive earlier to use the facilities more.

Traditional afternoon was excellent, including the lounge it was served in and the service. Head concierge very knowledgeable about property & history. Beautiful property, decor, grounds, very luxurious and grand. Breakfast choice was good. Gave us complimentary glass of champagne as it was our anniversary and a quiet table at dinner. Ag Grill too expensive £30pp towards dinner does not stretch far at all. Disappointed with 'starter' (slow cooked egg with artichoke & salad), didn't match description on menu, and it was cold, when I asked restaurant manager to check with chef she forgot, had to ask twice, was then told it was as per the menu - definitely had nothing crispy on it or that resembled an artichoke. 12.5% service charge too much! Spa facilities: very dark, jets not working, lots of lights out around the pool. Maid left 'hair gel' in our room from previous guest, dust in various places. No shaving mirror. Wedding guests kept walking through lounge to garden for cigarette, kept leaving door open and interrupted our afternoon tea.

The friendiness and helpfulness of all the staff together with the peaceful and glorious setting. Our room (Chelsea) looked out over the gardens and countryside which added to its attraction. Our meals in the 'Imagine Brasserie' were very good (but not outstanding). Two minor points for the hotel management to pay some attention to:- **Our room had a connecting door to the adjacent room which was unlocked and on enquiry not lockable!. **Some aspects of the room were dated such as the cracked wash basin and the very slow filling toilet flush.

Very welcoming and relaxing - just what we needed! The food in the fine dining restaurant was excellent although it was served very slowly. Our table was booked for 8pm and we didn't finish our meal until around 11am, which for us was too late.

Very nice location and smart hotel Food is expensive and was disappointing as the Chateaux Briane was overcooked and the pea and bacon pie was raw on the plate, for this type of hotel it shouldn't happen.

We were warmly welcomed, friendly an competently helped with any question we asked, the food was excellent. It was a very pleasant atmosphere in the whole place and we really felt excellently and we were very obligingly served. We enjoyed it very much. The Spa was great even though the pool didn't open before 8 in the morning . We can highly recommend this place with its different places to sit and enjoy and and just having a good time. Golf courses are easy to reach, footpaths to take walks start just at the hotel and the panoramic view to the lovely countryside of Sussex is breathtaking! Well, it was almost heaven....
