Breakfast Room was pokey, dim. Toilet was filling all night. No view. Mattress was lumpy. Long dark hairs on pillows and blankets.

The position is excellent This is in reality a Guest house. Iwould not class as an HotelThe bedroom was very small with one small internal window that faced bathroom extractors and an air conditioning unit.It really was very disappointing for the price paid.

This was the worst hotel we have ever stayed in, the room was only fit to be classed as a single, the shower room was worse than a broom cupboard. It was terrible, hence we left the following morning, never to return or recommend to anyone. Totally disgusting.

It was near where we wanted to go during the day and evening The healthy breakfast was healthy because there was not a lot of it. The room smelled strongly of mothballs. The room was sweltering. The view was of a roof and a run-down building. Not many staff. The 2 that we did see were very nice. When I tried to raise the negative comments there was no-one available. I cannot believe I paid £80.00 for one night. It was bearly worth £25.00. Sorry a & v Hotel, we will not be visiting you again.

Breakfast was very good. Service was friendly Travel cot was not very good. Floor was not clean. Hotel/room decor was a bit tired (for the price). Fold down bed made room very cramped when it was down.

The owners are new and it's a work in progress. Expect a listed building. It will be great once everything is finished. Staff very friendly and Fri/Sat nights entertainment was excellent..most unexpected. The Dining Room (restaurant) was 1st class. Location excellent

Good location, breakfast well cooked and wide selection. Staff polite and quite friendly Lay out of entrance and corridors to rooms - convoluted and uninviting Room very small and cramped - inclusion of a "mini kitchen" (not needed for our purposes) just took up a lot of room. Room had obviously had shelves or such moved but previous holes in the walls had not been filled and painted over. Stains on carpets in corridors Bathroom poorly laid out - not sure how a tall person could sit on the loo without knees jammed against the wall!!! Nowhere to put washbag - glass shelf not attached properly- tilted when anything put on it so items slid off.

The friendliness and competence of all the staff. The room was too small and too hot. It was not really large enough for one person and yet was designated as a double. It was obviously a "standard" room and other rooms were better. Unfortunatley the head chef was indisposed and no evening meals were available.

The staff were wonderful, I had my disabled sister with me and nothing was too much trouble. The little extra touches such as complimentary bath robe, slippers and water were not expected for the price we paid. The food in the restaurant was gourmet standard and delicious. They also had a tribute evening on which was worthy of any top venue. They gave you so many choices for breakfast including a healthy option that you were spoilt for choice. All in all a fantastic stay, would definitely recommend to anyone. Nothing I can think of.

Did not enjoy this experience, room dirty, facilities poor and disgustingly overpriced. Waited an hour for breakfast before commenting only to be told, 'Well, it is New Years Day'. Waited another forty minutes before leaving the dining room....without having breakfast. Asked to speak to the manager but he had conveniently gone out. I was assured by the reception manager that he would ring me later. Three weeks later and I am still waiting, disgraceful. I have spent New Year away with my family for the last seventeen years, staying in many different hotels and have never needed to complain about any of them. Well done Alexandra & Victoria Hotel you broke this record!

All staff were extremely friendly & helpful and made you feel welcome as soon as you arrived at reception. Rooms were excellent - very clean and all toiletries and accessories you could think of. Food was absolutely fantastic - couldn't fault one thing - gorgeous. The head of house & waitresses were also extremely friendly and went out of their way to make sure everything was ok. The 3 chefs deserve an applause for the food New Years Eve it was fantastic. New Year's Eve was a really good night and everyone at the hotel deserves praise for making it so. Will definitely be back.

The a&v is in a superb location virtually across the road from the pier. The main shopping centre being just around the corner on Lord Street. The hotel staff are very friendly. The room facilities were outstanding, loved the idea of the self contained kitchenette. The rooms were cosy. Nice restaurant and lovely breakfast.

Next to beach had great view.kids loved the bed in the cupboard and the kitchen in a cupboard. Our room was not ready on arrival. Nobody on reception had to wait. Breakfast poor service and room cold. Staff cars blocking car park. This hotel is definatley not a 4 star has all amenities but all very old and tired but could not complain because at the end of the you get what you pay for.

The staff were very attentive and the food was excellent Unfortunately there was a problem with the boiler the evening we stayed. Hence, there was no heating or hot water in the room. The room came with a spa bath which we were unable to use for the above reason. The staff rectified the problem as quickly as they could and gave us a complementary bottle of wine.
