The staff were brilliant - friendly and polite The food wasn't brilliant - sinewy fillet of steak and scrambled egg that had been cooked to an inch of it's life were all disappointments.

The general ambience of the place The staff were friendly, helpful and flexible. The bar is also frequented by a few locals which is always a good sign Parking sometimes difficult weekend evenings.

The hotel was lovely, the staff were extremely friendly and the food was excellent. Parking is difficult- there is a very busy public carpark round the corner from the hotel. It is free from 7.30pm until 8am- you can pay the night before to cover after 8am but if you forget be prepared to meet the over zealous traffic warden first thing in the morning!!!

Clean warm, very close to shops and pubs for young or old quiet or loud - enough choice. Nice surprise the 4 poster bed. Historic building is interesting. Set in Cockermouth - lovely place. Less expensive than other hotels we've stayed at in Cockermouth but missed nothing except initially the parking and even that was not a problem in the end. Parking might be an issue in season - we stayed in March. Costs £5 per day 100 yards away across the road.

Stayed at the allerdale court for two nights for new year, and we cannot make a negative comment. Weve stayed at many hotels worldwide before and this is definatley one of the best, whilst probabley not the grandest in modern decor, its spottlesly clean, the staff are all superb, the atmosphere is upbeat and really friendly, and the food in the hotel and restauraunt is something special. We would reccomend this hotel to anyone from any walk of life, congratullations and thanks to all at the allerdale. Believe me there is nothing to dislike at the allerdale

We had an interesting room, quirky to say the least, with a high 4 poster bed and large floor to ceiling gilt framed mirror in an old old room with beams and furnishing to go with, although the bathroom was comfortably modern with all mod.cons. Very nice, comfortable, cosy and a real change from the other hotels we stayed in on this trip. The staff were excellent too.

An excellent little hotel in Cockermouth, Cumbria. We had a large, clean bedroom, even at budget prices. The best features? Delicious hot breakfast; enormous bathroom; friendly, welcoming staff. Early-morning noise from a local cycle race in the street below. Not at all the fault of the hotel, though it did interrupt my sleep. However, the noise made me get up early and I enjoyed a leisurely morning stroll around the town, which was v interesting.
