Breakfast was first class. Room spacious. Well equipped. Bed very comfortable. Staff friendly and helpful
I thought the staff and bar/eating area were good and an excellent location.
The room was freezing, I pulled the bed away from the radiator to help but still very cold, no spare blankets and had to sleep in clothes. The bathroom had a large hole below the fan as mold.
While having dinner it was nice to ralk with other guests
Excellent staff..and food...a cosyness about the whole place.
The location is excellent for the Nothen Lakes. The town of Cockermouth is clean and with a good selection of retail outlets catering for all tastes and pockets. Carlins bistro is excellent, a good menu selection and good value. the service and friendliness of all the staff should be commended. we had a problem with our room and it was resolved immediatly with out fuss.
The one unfortunate draw back is the restrictions on parking at the front of the hotel and in the pay and dispaly carpark opposite.
There was a problem with the key to the room when we first got there. the staff sorted out another room immediately without having to wait. They were all very friendly and helpful, booking taxis for us and advising on the local area. The food was plentiful and very tasty. All in We couldn't fault this place and spent an enjoyable weekend in Cockermouth for my daughter's wedding.
The friendly welcoming staff, the quiet, comfortable bedroom, the quality of the food.
Leaving the place
Friendly staff and very comfortable room. Splendid breakfasts and excellent wifi reception.
Having to go home!
The staff were welcoming and helpful, nothing was a trouble to them. The rooms were comfortable and the breakfast great. We will definitely stay again if we are in Cockermouth
Excellent room, quiet, helpful staff, good breakfast.
Parking rather a pain but manageable given overall problem in the town
The staff were all friendly and welcoming. I paid for a superior room and was not disappointed, modern and comfortable in a traditional hotel within walking distance of everything I would need (although the hotel provided it all anyway). Stayed for both dinner and breakfast and would recommend both.
No hotel car park but public car park nearby at reasonable price although I managed to park in loading bay directly outside hotel which isn't a problem between 6pm and 8am.
Location was great and accommodation was really good.Breakfast was included with plenty too choose from, we would stay again.
When we arrived the receptionist was very friendly and took time to show us to our room. The room was spacious and very clean. We had dinner in the restaurant and the service was excellent and my wife described the meal as the best she had had in a long time. This is a massive compliment as we eat out most weekends.
There is no parking facilities so had to park in the supermarket car park across the road. There is space outside of the hotel but this is limited.
Beautiful building, charming service, comfortable bed in spacious room, good food.
The staff were friendly and helpful and the rooms clean and comfortable. The meals in the bistro were really good quality and not expensive.
The hotel does not have a dedicated car park which is a nuisance but there is a local one nearby. The Wi-Fi does not work throughout the hotel as advertised, especially on the top floor.
Breakfast lots of choice and all well presented. Great location, Cockermouth is an excellent base for the northern lakes and the town itself is very pleasant.
One small issue. We were in room 203 and could here all the footsteps from the room above at 1 in the morning.
Location, friendly staff and comfortable room.
Pleasant staff at check in. Lovely spacious room.
Limited choice on inclusive dinner menu and no option to pay an addition to eat of other menu.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Lovley room with a proper bath. Excellent breakfast. Love the fireplaces and mismatched squashy sofas.
The decor is a little tired upstairs but the ground floor has lots of character.
Rooms are not as its advrtiesed
Friendly atmosphere, clean room with massive bed! All in all very comfortable and breakfast was delicious!!
Being city centre meant that parking was a bit inconvenient. Also WIFI issues meant that wifi was at best inconsistent- however that was due to BT work and is understood to be temporary.
Swans in the bathrooms!
Location at end of Main Street handy for shops and Pubs and (when road re opens) Bus Stops also short distance from Jennings Brewery, good breakfast, comfortable bed. Bistro/Bar next door but not used As and when I return to Cockermouth would book here again
If visiting in 2014 travellers should be aware Cockermouth Main Street is being"improved" so one one traffic and revised Bus arrangements, Hotel is good but beware if you cannot manage stairs ask for lower floor room
Lovely little hotel in a prime location , with a class breakfast
