Nothing! Very disappointing, the only positive point was that it was conveniently located for our needs. Having spent 60yrs. Of our lives in Coventry, visiting the Allesley Hotel on numerous occasions for weddings, business functions, meals and dances, now living in Cornwall, we decided for 'old times sake' to stay at the Hotel on our recent visit to Coventry. It has always been 'Top Notch' so we had no qualms about staying there. Oh dear, what a mistake from the moment we walked through the door into the very sumptiously decorated Asian foyer it was a disaster. We called it the Hotel from Hell. Given our room key we preceded to our room. The room had not been made up,empty beer cans and bottles, filthy bathroom and unmade bed. The second room supposedly upgraded had curtains not attatched to the rail and crumpled pillows. The third room we were told had been newly refurbished, what a joke! Lights not working, basin plug not holding water, extractor not working, T.V. remote falling apart and ceiling tiles broken and poorly fitted. Electrical pat testing had all expired in 2010! The overall appearance of the room was old and dated and tiles in the bathroom were filthy with silver fish wriggling on the floor! Breakfasts were no better. Cold coffee, no choice of either yogurts, fruit, cheese ,ham, rolls etc. The 'Full English' contained a pullets egg, very small sausage, small rasher of bacon and a pot of baked beans. The juice was watered down cordial. Breakfast did improve slightly as the week went on. We spent our time complaining to the poor overworked staff as they were few and far between. To add insult to injury my personal towel was removed from the room without permission. The corridors were unclean with dirty underpants on the floor and stale curry pots left piled on tables. We were offered a free drink in the bar for our troubles! We eventually received small compensation from the manager. We were not the only ones to complain, everyone we spoke to was of the same opinion.

Absolutely dreadful place. The hotel had very few staff working at any time - it has a deserted, tumble down feel and frankly, the place is in a state of total disrepair. Boiling hot rooms with no temperature control to turn it down... Furniture falling apart - dirty bedlinen - etc, etc... Someone needs to send in the hotel inspectors...

Its location is very handy. Close to Birmingham Road and airport. Breakfasts very good. Allesley Ho0tel has been going downhill for years and is stuck in 1970s New owners have spent a lot of money on public areas to cater for weddings etc, Unfortunately have ignored basic requirements of guests eg. No towel rail in bathroom, nowhere to put toiletries in bathroom, hot water in bathroom unrelable. Evening meals not very exciting and appeared to come from freezer. Chef phoned in sick while we were there so no food at night. Biscuits and milk not always replaced in our room.

The location was good, just a short bike ride from the town centre. I couldn't access their wifi and got no signal on the 3g network. I also had a lovely view of a flat black roof and my sink had an extra hole in.

Not a huge amount. The bed was comfortable. The wine served was off and then the second glass was warm. The food was of very poor quality. We had to call each time to make an order at the bar. I'm afraid I don't think it deserves 3 stars. Have stayed in far better 3 * Hotels.

The staff were friendly and it looked nice from outside, the reception area was quite pleasant. Our room was disgusting, the bed was so wonky it felt like a water bed, the curtains were hanging off the wall as was the rail, the ceiling was covered in stains, obviously water marks, it was awful, we are glad it did not rain as we would of got soaked. There were double lights on the wall, only one of each set worked, one of the bed side lights did not work. The carpet we are sure there was something else living in it.The bathroom was abit out dated but that did not matter, it was the mildew in the tiles that was of concern. A good bleaching would not of gone a miss. It was reasonably priced but little things were not acceptable, we did not complain, they had a wedding at the weekend and obviously kept the better looking rooms for the event. Our christmas presant from our daughter over sea's, were tickets to the gadget show, which was grea,t unfortnately we have both been made redundant therefore the cost of the accomodation had to be very reasonable or we would not of gone to the NEC. We did not expect alot from the hotel, but honestly our room (203) was not acceptable. Regards Mrs M Thewless

Absolutely nothing. We have written to the Managing Director on the 3rd March and await his response before taking further steps. You need another rating before poor above. For this hotel their should be a very poor. See above. But in addition; cleanliness was non-existent. Staff were unable to cope with problems.

The cleaners were friendly. Located near a lovely old church. Hopefully the refurbishments will improve the hotel facilities. There were numerous switches by the bed, and the room did not have an alarm clock. A simple instruction card would have been of benefit to instruct that one of them turned the power to the TV on. The breakfast was self service with no menu to explain what hot food was on offer. The loaf that you used for toast was still thawing from being frozen, the 'orange juice' was actually watered down squash and was very poor. Personally, I did not like all the mirrored decor and found the layout of the hotel confusing with hardly any signage.

Upgrading but currently at the expense of adequate staff. The many chandeliers now up would have been money better spent on staffing and little things like towels in the toilets, and other essentials.

The bed was firm, there was electricity and some running water, and the lock on the door worked. There was plenty of parking. Staff were pleasant. The sheets were old and stained. The whole hotel was dark and badly lit. The room was generally dirty, carpet and bathroom floor gritty and covered in pubic hair, the shower was dirty and didn't work very well, only the manageress knew how it worked! Breakfast was different every day, generally bad but did improve a bit once more staff turned up, different staff every day for 3 days. I would not stay here again.

I absolutely hated it I was disgusted that the Asian manager on reception tried to charge me £20 to check in at 12. Midday 2 hours before their check in time, but was willing to knock it down to £10 !!!! I had a 5 week old baby and had to feed her in the lounge! My father in law was given his room and opened the door to find it was being refurbished!!!!! Our room was on the 4th floor and I got half the pram through the lift door and it closed on it!!!! I was horrified!!! On the fourth floor the fire door that says it must always be kept closed was bust open!!! I'm sure this is against regulation!!! Our room was disgusting!!! It smelt like an Indian restaurant, there were boggies wiped on the wall amongst other dirty marks, the bathroom suit pinky peachy outdated sank when you stood in the shower!!! The bedspread had a burn on it and the net curtains that were once White looked like they had been dropped in a puddle!!!!! Never again !

Leaving! The hotel corridors and bar area was very dark, drab and dated. The hotel rooms and ensuite were again very tired and not well kept - generally grimey. The staff I encountered could barely speak English and the Reception Staff were unprofessional.

Everything the room was shabby and the bathroom was disgusting. The grout on the tiles was black the soap dispensers looked like they had never been cleaned. Round the necks of the bottles were slimmy. The showere head was encrusted with gunge so was the extracter fan which was next to showere head over bath. The smoke alarm was hanging off the roof. The bed had odd legs that through the night collapsed. As you walked into the room the plaster on the doorway was all damaged. We had to go through a large communial area which was dark and all through the evening and night they never put on any lights on. We went with two children one in a wheelchair and one under 2. did complain and after some discussion got my money back but would never go there again.

The room cleaner doing his job, No hot or cold water about just under an hour before we were due to go out so it was one mad rush to get ready for our taxi arriving, when I went down to the reception the recetionist told me to have a cold shower, I was not happy with that reply to having not water, then when we went for breakfast most of it was cold or there was nothing of certain parts of the breakfast, my wife and my son in law did not get their breakfast at all, even after we had paid for them, the coffee was discusting, I do not think that we would stay there again in the near futher.

not a lot after this weekend cold breakfast, no hot water or cold for an hour just before we were due to go out so it was one mad rush to get ready before our taxis arrived, the only one good thing was the room attendants who cleaned our rooms and had them ready for our arrival.

The room was awful. TV not connected to aerial and tv electrical safety check out of date. Horrible marks on all the ceiling tiles, the easy chair was very old and unwelcoming, no plug in bath, light over bathroom mirror didn't work. One pillow was unuseable and the wardrobe had neither doors or a pole to hang clothes on! One of the bedside lights did not work. The card entry only worked after several attempts. The cooked breakfast was poor. The fried eggs were solid and there were no baked beans left. The orange juice was tasteless.

There was no hot water in the hotel for the whole weekend. We had to negotiate a refund of 10 pounds per night which was not enough - still cost £40 per night - appalling! Service poor at mealtimes. Not enough staff serving!
