Loved the old Manor House Bedroom looked nice
Bedroom was absolutely freezing no heating in January on a bitterly cold day . Only an old Electric fire to heat room yes it did but it took about 3 hours . Very stingy with breakfast on a plate just a bit bigger than a tea plate , I rasher bacon, 1 sausage, 1 egg, spoonful of beans, for my husband. I had cereal. A tiny jug of boiled milk My husband had tiny cafetière which would just fill one mug of coffee !!! The Manager didnt have white bread He cut us 2 massive thick chunks of brown bread , It wasn't nice to eat Doorsteps!! They could have done a lot better .it was a lovely big house which could offer a lot if it was managed better with a warmer welcome and more generous Portions offered .
Fantastic host lovely food, room beautiful
We had to leave
Beautiful house with a grand feel and a room(Lords) that really lives up to it's name.
It would be useful if there was more information about the local area and history of the house.
ambience of the place
no restaurant but the nearby but the nearby Welby Arms more than compensated
There wasn't anything not to like
Everything. It was like stepping back in time to the English civil war but with all mod cons! Great breakfast. Pretty setting in pretty English countryside with good road connections!
Would have liked tablecloth or mays on table at breakfast.
A nice friendly family run business. offered a pot of tea or coffee on arrival. Good choice of breakfast. They do not do lunch or dinner but pub 1 minute walk away do both.
I am not a lover of shabby shic furniture. Also I am not a lover of large bath in the bedroom, but does have seperate shower room.
This was a beautiful place to stay and with excellent service. It was a bit out of the way, but that has its charms too.
When booking unknown places on the internet you sometimes get what you expect. sometimes get places that look fantastic on line but are poor and sometimes stumble across fantastic hidden gems like this one that surpass your every expectation. It should be viewed as a high quality B&B rather than a hotel but it is one set in the most fantastically restored ancient manor house. I arrived late having been held up in London but this was no problem and I was greeted very warmly and was shown to the most sumptuous and enormous room resplendent with a huge bed and free standing bath in the room as well as an en-suit shower. I had intended to do some work but instead I lit the candles, soaked in the bath while watching the late night news, and then sunk into the bed and slept like a rock waking late. When I went down for breakfast I discovered that there had been a power cut impacting the whole village nevertheless (and I don't know how) an excellent breakfast was produced. This was undoubtedly one of the best stays at any of the many hotels that I have stayed in this year (I travel all the time for business) and I will defiantly be back.
The owner was very accommodating. We needed a couple of things and he was right on it. He went out of his way to make us feel comfortable. The house had character and history. The garden and landscape were beautifully maintained and I felt like I was in a true English garden. The breakfasts were very tasty and we really enjoyed his omelet. The little village was quite pleasant and you could walk to the pub that had very nice food.
The staff were helpful and informed. We had a problem on arrival and it was resolved as quickly as was possible. The breakfast was outstanding. The house was old; there were plenty of original features. A dream hotel for people who like a touch of individuality.
Stunning venue unbelievable decor. Leo and the team couldn't be more helpful.
lots of character and big rooms, comfy bed, great breakfast
no sheets on bed, loo that didn't flush properly
Comforable and with very good breakfast. Relaxed. Near to a good pub for dinner.
Accommodations, scenic area, breakfast, and excellent service
We were greeted warmly on arrival and made to feel welcome for the duration of our stay. The Manor is beautifully appointed with lots of period and interesting details. Our room was fabulous, the breakfast was good and generous and the Manor is situated a very short walk from the village pub which serves very good food.
There was nothing we didn't like other than the weather!
The location, very short walk to the nearest pub and not far from Grantham itself. Staff were fantastic and accommodating. Gorgeous place!
Check in wasn't until 3 however we were let in early.
everything wasn't quite perfect, which might sound odd but in chain hotels everything looks like a show home and Allington Manor looked and felt like a proper home, it was really lovely and I would go back anytime. The breakfast was really tasty, proper homemade bread! the bed was comfortable and the shower fabulous. The village is great with a good pub just a short walk away.
Lovely property. Unfortunately we had to leave early due to personal circumstances - staff were very understanding and offered a discount on our next visit.
