We were met and welcomed on arrival.... The location although slightly elevated offered a beautiful view of st Helier & Elizabeth Castle... We were in the front of the hotel & we had our own balcony.& parking space. The family went out of their way to make us feel welcome..even driving ahead of us into town to find a parking space !! Full English Breakfast in the morning was worth getting up for, Hiring a car from the airport was the best way to see all of the beautiful island of Jersey..xxxx Because the hotel dates back to 1841 there are no lifts but you can request a low floor room. The location is elevated but beautiful views. But the main plus is that it is quite inexpensive to stay there & there is a Hotel just down the road if you wanna go for a drink or meal ie The Inn !!!

Very pleasant staff. I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the room for the price I paid. The bathroom could do with some modernising but the room itself I had no complaints about. Excellent breakfast, freshly cooked and good portion size.

very friendly and helpful staff. Pleasant room, light and airy and comfortable bed and quiet location breakfast room was very dated and in need of some serious refurbishment. It was also very dark. Breakfast was plentiful but the same every day. I suppose its hard to offer choice in a small establishment. To be honest the breakfast was very 'dated' in that I would have expected the same 30 years ago.

Judging against the price paid (and remember this is Jersey in July) I give this hotel, within its class, a 10+. Especially notable was the welcome and helpful service from Magda and Silvio. If I am back in St Helier and paying myself I will certainly stay here again. As stated by a previous traveler: "The hotel did what it said on the tin" The outside of the building is spectacular - I think it used to be a sanatorium/hospital Top quality cooked breakfast - I did not need to eat again until late in the evening. None of this was a problem for me but for the infirm, delicate, light sleeper or seeker after luxury: The hotel is a bit of a walk from the centre of town, There may be a lot of stairs to climb to your room, It is an old (possibly historic) building and if other guests decide to stomp up the stairs or jump around in their room - you will certainly hear them. Expect to take a bath rather than a shower Everything necessary works but may have its own particular faded charm.

The manager and her husband were extremely helpful throughout our stay, helping us with luggage and accommodating our needs - one of us had mobility problems - and giving us delicious breakfasts and two lovely evening meals. It isn't a fancy hotel, but it is clean and comfortable and has a lovely atmosphere. Good location. When they have finished renovating the premises I hope the hotel doesn't loose the friendly ambience.

Very friendly and helpfull hotel staff. The hotel building is old, but the room we had was well maintained and clean. Really a minor point when you are not in a hurry: Getting someone at the reception took a while, but we discovered that the door bell works efficiently...

We received a very warm welcome from the owners, a lovely room with great views. It was only a short stroll to all the shops and bus station, and the owners were more than happy to suggest places of interest to visit during our stay.

“Situated an easy 10mins walk from the start of the shops in St Helier, another 5 mins will get you to the beach or main bus station. Plenty of eating establishments in the area. The room was clean & comfortable. Breakfasts were of ample proportions served by very pleasant staff. An ideal reasonably priced (room £60/night) base for touring the island.” Stuart, Derby |
