Friendly staff and good food, the breakfast was excellent. The hotel is closing in September which is a pity. I wish the staff well and hope they find new jobs as they deserve to.

The hotels location is very good for getting around Hampshire. It looks very smart from the outside. Everything is tired there. The chairs in the restaurant wobble, like they're falling apart so we changed them around. The service was so slow for evening meal and it wasnt busy. Ordered at 7pm didnt get any food till 8pm. Didnt bother with a sweet we'd have been sat there till the next morning. Food was ok but limited choice, bit dreary. Big sofa in the room presume its kind of a spare bed, it looked so worn out it must have been there for a long, long time. The tv in my room had a mind of its own, couldnt change channel as it would just die, the excuse was they've just had switchover from analogue. All in all the whole place needs completely updating and the gardens could be quite pretty but need attention. Thought it was expensive for what it was. Glad we only booked one night.

We liked the informal homely style of the decor. The celebration lunch which we attended was very efficiently managed and the food was good. We were disappointed to learn that the building was to be demolished to make access for a housing development at the rear.
