The hotel has improved a lot since the last visit in August. The room had been updated and the staff more friendly. There is always a good breakfast!

The central location of the hotel, making it ideal for eating out in the town in the evening, and visiting the various hostelries.

The locality of it to the wedding venue we were at in the centre of Alton. We were pleasently surprised by the room as it was better than the picture on the website. It was spacious and bright and nicely furnished. The only let down was the cleanliness of the room. The bin had rubbish in it, there was someone else's dirty soap in the soap dish on the shower holder and a bit of dust and dirt in the bathroom as if not cleaned properly. The mugs also had coffee stains in them so I had to wash them before we could use them. The room was tidy though.

They hadn't given us a twin room. The spare bed was very uncomfortable. The noise from wedding party, and that was two nights running. ( they should warn guests of this) we therefore didn't get to sleep until after midnight. . . There was a dirty glass behind the curtains, and grips on the floor. No biscuits on the breakfast tray on the 3rd morning.

The look of the reception area was fairly welcoming although this was ruined by the unwelcoming staff. I have to say that I was hugely annoyed and dissapointed with the unhelpful and unwelcomming reception we recieved when we arrived. The lady that was working on reception did not smile or offer any warmth whatsoever, we needed to check into our room 30 mins earlier than check in time as the wedding was starting soon after this. She made us feel that this was an unreasonable request, and really did not seem to care if we were ready for the wedding or not. She seemed like she had been in the job way too long as she was rude and dismissive. Will definitely not be recommending this hotel to anyone. The bar area where we were moved to after the wedding was freezing cold and no heating was on, it was freezing weather and snowing outside!!!!

The Breakfast was great, the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was freezing cold when we arrived. During the night other guests were extremeley noisy, this was sustained and was almost directly outside our room (in the foyer area). I was suprised that no hotel staff dealt with this, given how long I went on for.

My husband and I were very impressed with the hotel in general, the rec eption staff were very friendly and helpful, likewise the restaurant staff when we returned in the evening for dinner. The food we thought was very good and good value including the breakfast where there was plenty of choice. All in all, we were well satisfied and would not hesitate to book in if we visited that part of hampshire again.

Hotel simple and clean. Location very close to the family house where we spent the Christmas period days. No lift and our Room No. 35 was on the top level. Rooms 33 to 40 (?) on top floor with only a very steep difficult staircase.

Only stayed for one night. Reception was efficient and friendly. The room was clean, tidy and comfortable. The Hotel's location is in the heart of Alton and as such was perfectly placed for trips down the main high street for shopping etc. Not so much a complaint but an observation. Breakfast was served between 08.30 and 10am. We went down at 09.45 expecting a cooked breakfast but to our dismay it was a self service hotplate breakfast buffet. There were 2 sausages, some rashers of bacon, 3 hash browns and some well congealed baked beans. We were on a relaxing weekend not a business trip; the breakfast looked more suited to business people rather than casual visitors. That said, the serving staff and supervisor were very attentive and provided tea and toast in a nice friendly manner.

Was very impressed by the service, extra towels arrived within minutes and breakfast was served with a smile. A very annoying dripping tap in the bathroom was repaired the same day, amazing and a peaceful nights sleep!

Location in Alton. Parking facility. History of Hotel Winter duvet on bed. Observation for your benefit:- Wife and I had breakfast and paid bill afterwards for extras. She asked for money for the newspaper. I asked if breakfast was included in room bill [ already paid ] She said No. She then apologised and and added the breakfast charge. If I was not honest I could have walked out without paying for the breakfast. We did not have to sign for the breakfast or produce the key. Also, receptionist did not double check by asking if we had just had breakfast.
