We attended an event which included a group dinner. The presentation and quality of the food was excellent. Waiting service was warmly cheerful and efficient. Our booking was for a superior room with sitting area. However, we were allocated a small room which did not match the standard we expected. After an initially slow response to our complaint, we were offrered a much bigger room with sitting area and a very large kingsize bed. It was a pity that this room was not allocated to us from the outset. Full marks for the excellent service recovery and for the reduction in our bill. We were charged the rate for a standard room even though we stayed in a superior room.. On arrival, we were not allocated the room standard which we had reserved. After our complaint about the small room, we were allocated a much larger and lovely room of the standard we had reserved.

It was close enough to the m5 to keep us on course for work the next day, but far enough away that we could get off the main route for a good night's rest. Had internet connections which is needed for work purposes. Was comfortable, good food and friendly staff It was great for our one night stay.

I know everyone's choices are different but for me, the bed in my room was much too firm to be able to enjoy a comfortable might's sleep.

Very friendly staff Food is excellent The bathroom! Bath not normal shape and difficult to access up two very steep steps, double the normal depth and you had to hold the shower by hand no power and not able to fasten to wall no shower curtain. Complementery paper not received first morning had to remind staff and received on next 2 days. Internet access not achieved and no mobile phone reception in room. Hotel lacked atmosphere hardly anyone staying at hotel. They offered to change our room after our complaint but we could not be bothered with the effort, whilst we will return to the area to visit family we won't use the Alvestion.

The Reception staff especially couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. The Hotel was very quiet, bright and tranquil, good quality beds ensured we had a good nights sleep. Décor in our bedroom/en suite looked new and was to a high standard. Breakfast was excellent. My only grumble was that I was surprised there wasn't any body lotion to accompany the shower cap/shower-gel and shampoo.

A very pleasant and helpful staff working in a modernised and attractive environment. Well placed close to the a38, but far enough back not to get traffic noise.

You ask at the top of this review not to mention the room rate but surely you must appreciate that the rate is the most important aspect of any hotel stay. I would recommend this hotel but I would have let them know the rates you charge and in most cases that would put them off.
