Alveston House Hotel  

We stayed at Alveston House Hotel as friend was getting married locally at Old Down Manor. Staff were brill booking taxi's for us. At the end of wedding party all taxi's in locality were booked up. I called Alveston for assistance and reception staff went out of their way to secure transportation for us, brill service! Beautiful room, furnishings, comfy bed & gorgeous bathroom. Only problem- wish we could have stayed longer!

The welcome. The service. The food.

The size of the bedroom and bathroom. We are both thin but felt 'crowded'. The tea-making arrangement was difficult to access and to use. The chairs were too heavy to move easily. It would have been better for us without them.

Friendly and helpful staff, clean and comfortable room . Excellent meal and service in restaurant. Onsite parking.

Staff were excellent, warm and welcoming. Food good.

Rooms were basic and cramped, sound proofing almost non-existent - could hear next room on the toilet! Bed sagged.

The staff are fabulous. The room was large and comfortable and the bathroom clean and modern.

The weather.

The service was second to none. Impeccable staff. Food was delicious especially the dinner.

We stayed in room 36. The radiator / towel warmer cannot be turned up so as to adequately heat the en suite, consequently the en suite room is cold.

Room was very boring... nothing inspiring about it at all... long wait at breakfast as there was confusion about orders.. maybe that does not always happen.. do tell staff not to cough when serving...

each time i have be to Alveston house all ways have a nice and relaxation time with nice hotel and very nice food

The very friendly welcome - nothing too much trouble. Great receptionist. Was attending a family wedding held there. Booked in early to change for wedding, having asked beforehand if this was possible. No trouble at all and room was ready for me. Wedding breakfast was great. Waiters and waitresses were friendly and helpful.

Very few guests in dining-room for breakfast but service was a bit slow. Fortunately I wasn't in a hurry.

The room was spacious and well designed. It was the location of a friend's wedding so it was well located for us to stay

Staff were friendly and helpful

the £2 breakfast supplement for haddock and poached egg ....... I have stayed in many good quality hotels but never paid a supplement for this choice and would add this was also the smallest portion of haddock I have ever been served for breakfast.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel has a lovely garden.

Of the four people in out party two opted for the smoked haddock breakfast. When we were looking at the menu we were surprised that it carried a supplement as we had never seen this at any other hotel we had stayed at. When the dish was served there was even greater surprise as it was a very small portion!

Excellent food, both dinner and breakfast were first class (and I've stayed in a lot of hotels). Very friendly staff, a real family feel to the place.

One minor irritation is the motorised valve on the room radiator which is quite loud and could wake you up if you're a light sleeper. It didn't wake me up, but startled me when I was watching TV!

My husband & myself were at a family wedding,as the wedding reception was held in the hotel we decided to stay there aswell.We highly recommend the hotel to anyone as the rooms are excellent,spotlessly clean&the food is excellent as we ate during the wedding reception& also had breakfast which had an excellent buffet.

The friendlyness of the staff,who went out of their way to be helpfull. A lovely venue for a relaxing holiday with excellent food. Will definately pay a retun visit.

Very friendly and helpful staff.

Pleasant staff. Small hotel.

Breakfast was not great. Hated having to continually ask a waiter to top up coffee which was in small cup. Full English was disappointing - burned mushrooms, spindly little tomato, horrible potatoes. It was included in my room price, but other people had to pay £12,50 for it - not good.

Excellent service and great quality food. We would happily return when next in this area.

The reception on arrival was extremely welcoming and immediately felt that we were welcome. The food was good quality, excellent choice and the house wine very acceptable. My only wish as a mature couple is a lift. It is the men who have over exerted themselves in life at sport and from 70 onwards their knees starting giving way for the ladies it is usually the hips. I should have asked for a ground floor room but I took it for granted that there would be a lift.

As I stated above it would have been nice to have had a lift. Fortunately I am still fit but my husband has bad legs.
