Macdonald Alveston Manor Hotel  

Only a small complaint but black hairs on floor in the bathroom, none of which were ours and the bedside lamps, not the shades but the lamps themselves were covered in dust which to my mind is peoples dead skin, not very nice. Mike Stuart

The location is ideal for walking trips around town, whilst avoiding noise. The hotel is very attractive from the front, with nice grounds (to the front) and impressive period features. Most of the rooms are in new wings added to the rear. When booking, you might want to check what type of room you are going to be staying in, if that is important to you. It looks to be a good location for a wedding or similar function.

Billed as an award winning restaurant, it actually is a grill offering a limited menu. The wine list is however good. I feel that the hotel could be so much more if it all came together - staff and food choice.

Staff were helpful and an interesting building

The internet service through bt was unavailable - seems crazy not to have your own wifi service available in guest rooms. Getting a document printed was difficult because only an ancient version of Word on the system. Too many little steps for luggage

The lack of a small room fridge and not enough 'ordinary' tea and sugar on the tray.

It was convienent, comfortable, historic and close to the all the facilities that Stratford has to offer.

Nice ambience. Comfortable room with a great shower/bathroom. Big breakfast with a range of choices.

Staff acted rudely towards me as a solo traveller.

The grounds and main buildings were superb. The bedrooms were quiet

The majority of the hotel bedrooms are located a long way from the reception and other public areas of the hotel, down a very long corridor and there were no alternative entrances so that you could not easily 'pop up' to your room should you wish to. I find it disappointing to have to pay to park ay a hotel as a resident. The hotel had not updated its room information packs, which still referred to free parking.

Close to town Swimming pool very nice. Old world charm of the original house part.

Could not operate the climate control, no instructions, had to open window in the end. Bed really sqeaky

The hotel couldn't be better placed for the rsc and centre of Stratford. It's charming and welcoming. The spa and pool are great. The staff are thoughtful and offer old fashioned, personal service. If you want to enjoy a cooked breakfast give yourself plenty of time because everything is prepared by hand so takes a little longer than the average instant buffet

Great location for Startford shops and sightseeing. Spacious room with great bath and shower. Good size swimming pool and sauna. Staff in the main were english or spoke good english and were attentive and helpful. Breakfast was nice and hot with good variety.

On the Tuesday morning we arrived at breakfast around 9.30ish and a lot of tables were uncleared with varying degrees of debris. The fresh fruit and pastries were not replenished even though we were not the last to arrive. For a hotel of this stature this was not great. Another oddity was that staff came to the table and asked us if everything was ok but did not then recover anything from the other tables on their way back to the kitchen. This was very strange and the tables just stayed in disarray until we left.
