We enjoyed this elegant old manor in a great location. We were an easy walk to the Royal Shakespeare theatre. The restaurant was good, a bit expensive but the staff excellent.

We return as it is a central location from where my hubands lives and our friends live so we use this as a base to catch up; the spa and close proximity to the town centre are the primary reasons for returning here rather than finding another hotel. Staff themselves are generally polite but the team as whole don't seem to get the concept of delivering strong customer service - it doesn't appear to be their number one priority; my husband and i have stayed at this hotel several times now and it was noticeable during each or our stays.

Attentive staff, peaceful setting, plenty of parking, good distance to surrounding attractions. The bar and restaurant atmosphere was a bit stuffy. I don't think hotel guests should have to pay for parking.

Location The fact that we had to pay for car parking when a night was over £200, the room had no shower gel and the breakfast at £15 was very over priced for one sausage, one mushroom, small beans, one tiny piece of fried bread, bacon and toast. You get more at a Premier Inn

The fairly comfortable bedroom, good bathroom, good leisure room facilities Inflexibility of check out time on a special request. Inflexibility of breakfast charges when only a light breakfast required; charged still at £15, which is outrageous. Impersonal, pre-programmed greeting at reception

1st impressions, grounds well maintained. Bar snacks generous. Bed linen and towels very clean and good quality. Breakfast staff spoke to us by name, nice touch, breakfast excellent in spite of being very busy. We've stayed here several times but a few years ago. I am aware of the age of the building, however the hotel is starting to look shabby because of lack of maintenance The front steps are crumbling. The blue carpet in the bar area is dirty and coming apart at the seams and in other parts of the hotel is wearing so thin as to be a trip hazard. Our bedroom carpet was very stained. The bathroom window was difficult to open and close,(peeling paint and metal window frames, single glazed windows.) Tiles need a thorough clean and re-grouting. All in all, not the same standard it used to be and it is a shame.

Frontage and position great for walking into Stratford; nice bath towels; prompt room service Windows in room old and there was a gap when closed; lack of attendtion to detail; breakfast - sausages were barely cooked, ketchup was very vinegary - as if wastered down; rooms felt very much like the poor relation of the hotel and could do with modernising

Location, Rooms were okay, swimming pool Restaurant was overpriced and very understaffed. Considering the style and cost of the food, the service wasn't up to standard. It also didn't cater for children's meals. Toilet in Room didn't flush properly.

The fact it was so close to the town was great, just a few minutes walk away. We found all the staff very friendly and helpful, great food and a relaxing atmosphere in the evenings for a quiet drink.

Friendly and professional staff We went for a drink at the bar, but nobody asked us if we were having dinner at the restaurant ... I was expecting to have a look at the menu and to have somebody to take us there as it is usually the case in high quality , expensive hotels .

The friendliness of the staff, its proximity to the RSC theatre, the charm of its historic building, the comfort, the warmth I would like to have been able to purchase a lower cost meal at the hotel.

The decor and location and friendly staff. Very clean and comfortable rooms Having to pay to leave my car in your car park. I have never known this before. Also, £55 per night just for a basic room is not good value for money. It would have been nice to have had somewhere to go in the morning just for coffee and a light breakfast but this didn't seem to be an option?

The hotel was conveniently located and the leisure facilities were very good. The staff were friendly and the room was clean and comfortable. 1. The wine was expensive 2. There was a hair in my hamburger 3. Staff were friendly but breakfast was rather chaotic. Both days we had to wait for ages with waiters going by saying someone would be with us shortly - eventually we just sat down somewhere. Also £2.50 extra for eggs benedict seemed expensive. 4 My husband wanted extra milk and tea bags but the staff on reception were clearly not keen to go and get more.

All the staff were very friendly. We ate in the restaurant and had an evening meal and it was of excellent quality and served by professional staff. Breakfast was also a delight. There needs to be signs in the car park explaining that residents of the hotel don`t need to buy a ticket as they only pay for their stay not per day.

The staff were friendly, swimming pool and breakfast were excellent. Being woken at 6.30am by guests in next room and opposite rooms - knocking on theirs doors and banging the doors shut. No respect for other guests. This went on for about an hour! Our relaxing break shattered.
