Macdonald Alveston Manor Hotel

The ambiance of the original part of the hotel is really good. The staff are friendly and helpful. The room was well equipped and comfortable.

The room was small and quite poky for the amount we paid. The outlook of the room was directly upon a car park, as we only stayed one night this wasn't a big issue but if we had been there for a longer stay it would have been an issue.

The room temp seemed higher than the 16deg I set it to cool down to.Other than that and £4.20 for a pint all is very good.

Proximity to Stratford town centre, but still a quiet location. Very well presented room. Friendly and helpful staff.

Most of the staff were helpful and courteous. The rooms were lovely in true English tradition and the hotel maintains it's historical design. The traditional English breakfast was great and the lounge area beautiful.

One front desk person was arrogant and rude. Did not handle a small problem at all and we had to call the manager who did. Some of the staff need more training.

We attended a wedding at the hotel and used the room as a base for the day only. Hotel staff were exceptional, room was immaculate, food was lovely, drinks can be pricey. As a relative of the bride got to see the huge bridal suite which was full of very old charm - whilst our room was in the new part of the building, which was light and large with traditional furnishings, so depending on what you want the hotel offers both new and old. Perfect place for relaxing and being in central Stratford.

Room not as clean as I would have expected. Breakfast not included and extremely expensive as an extra.

We liked the swimming pool except not the spa staff, who seemed distant. The reception staff were great,and the helpful staff who offered to carry bags when they met us at the stairs. Everything in the room worked, and despite being a long way from reception, we were close to the car park at the rear. Very quiet in our corridor. Good recommendation to eat at Le Bistro Pierre across the road.

Macdonald Hotels charge extra to settle the bill with a credit card. This is not something I knew about until we came to check out. I couldn't find any notification in the terms and conditions, and feel that this is leg-lifting at it's worst. We avoided breakfast at £35 for 2, as there are many better places in town, 5 minutes walk away. Soap in the bathroom would have been nice... And finally, Macdonal hotels will try to sneak an extra pound onto your bill to give to their charities. You will have to ask at reception to get this taken off your bill.

Grounds and front of hotel were beautiful. The location was excellent, just outside of the town centre but close to everything. Rooms were spacious and well kept. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

Double beds were two singles together. In our case one slightly lower than the other. Meals too expensive for current climate.

The rooms were of excellent standard, especially the comfort of the beds. Very quiet. Lovely relaxed atmosphere in the bar area and excellent service.

The service at breakfast was poor. If you have to employ foreigners, make sure they can speak and understand the English language. Slow service and did not get what we asked for due probably to language problem.

Courteous staff, convenient to RSC theatre. Excellent value for money. Accommodation clean, warm and comfortable.

Busy road to cross when walking into Stratford centre.

The hotel is big and with good environment, and a very unique hotel as well. Staff are helpful especially in helping out in booking tickets for Shakespear's Theatre and to speed up the food delivery time when they're aware that i needa rush to the theatre for the play.

Steak at the Grill can do better! Mine was a bit too overdone and hope i can try some tender steak next time. But overall the food quality are good and i'm impressed with the presentation of the food. Quite trendy presentation in such an tradtional hotel! Good try!

The Classy, Hystorical feel including the excellent service was warm and welcoming. I can't wait to return again.
