Excellent hotel. Fantastic location
Staff very informative on room options Great location Fabulous room facilities and response to issues reported was immediate.
I couldn't fault anything about the staff. All friendly and nothing too much trouble. Complimentary nibbles and drinks in the mini bar and a good location for theatre land.
Nothing not to dislike.
Great hotel and staff will -definitely be visiting again.
Staff were excellent - enthusiastic and welcoming. Room on 6th floor was clean, comfortable with a wonderful view over London. Ideally located for our visits to theater land, Buckingham Palace and St Paul's. With the additional benefit of having the hilarious Fawlty Dining Experience in the hotel. A most enjoyable stay. Will return to the Amba any time I visit London.
The bar was a little dull and expensive - although even that was more than compensated by the service and attention of the 2 young men behind the bar. No real complaints and any minor issues more than compensated by the advantages of the hotel.
Wonderful room. Very luxurious hotel. Very friendly, helpful staff.
Excellent location Good value for Money Extremely friendly and helpful staff Consierge service brilliant Happy, smiling people Very clean
For breakfast, I missed fresh tomatoes, lettuce, cucumbers, paprikas...
These comments are based on a 7 days stay (10/01-17/02). The Amba Charing Cross is set on a renovated historical building, providing most of the conveniences a tourist would value in a modern hotel, including impeccable new bathrooms. We reserved a deluxe double room which, although comfortable, suffered from lack of storage space (there were no drawers and only limited shelf space in the small closet). It seems that this a general feature – an issue if you plan to stay for more than a couple of days. The day after our arrival, the exceptional customer service standards of this hotel became evident as we were granted an upgrade to an executive suite at no extra charge. These standards were continuously expressed by all the staff we encountered during our whole stay: from the exceptional reception-desk team (our personal thanks to Elena, Laura and all other members), the Concierge team, as well as the cleaning staff. The Amba’s direction (attn. Mr. Glenn Hallam, General Manager of Charing Cross) should be proud of these people. We are impressed and thankful.
Mini bar was not replaced even though I brought it to attention of the reception
Location is very central, Amba lounge is a great extra
Very friendly staff. Handy for our trip on the river, and a night out around Covent Garden, slept very well.
LOCATION STAFF AND SERVICE CLEANLINESS
Free wifi, use of ipad, excellent front of house manager attempted to remedy my bad experience with the heating.
Cold, cold room and my request for the heating to be fixed while I was out for the evening was ignored.
Staff were excellent. Receptionist Elena in particular was lovely.
Hotel is convenient for trains, tube and buses, shopping, museums etc etc. Staff friendly and helpful, rooms bright, clean and modern. Price is comparable to other hotels in area. Would highly recommend.
Free upgrade to Junior Suite! Pleasant and helpful staff. Location to Covent Garden for day, location to the Strand for theatre in evening. Have paid for suite in the past and stayed 3 or 4 times before, ideal stop at a price one would expect for location.
Having to leave to get back to the kids, reality bites!
There are so many hotels in London but I think this has a nice atmosphere, especially the afternoon tea upstairs. Location is good as well.
Excellent customer Service, Good Rooms
The hotel is superbly located and very well kept. Staff warm and polite
As personal dislike; I had a tea in the lounge, good service but weird location (a glass framed area very narrow and over stuffed) that didn't match the rest of the ambience.
The hotel was very central to all London attractions. It is clean superior and comfortable. The staff are friendly and helpful
There was nothing that disappointed us about our stay
Everything. My room, the free mini bar, the comfortable bed and extra pillows. A brand new coffee machine and tea and coffee facilities. The fabulous ballroom that the party was held in. The band, the dj the food, fantastic). The breakfast was superb and great value at £15! It was a very pleasurable experience from start to finish and so convenient!
The paint job in our bathroom was terrible. It looked like the decorator had done the undercoat and forgotten to do the top!
bathroom bed lounge breakfast
Good location. Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice bar. The room was a bit small but ok. Duvet was a bit heavy. No space between the twin beds - was more like a double with separate duvets.
The room was clean but some corners and skirting in the bathroom had been missed for quite a while! Duvet was heavy and even with air con on cool the room was quite hot.
The bathrooms were lovely. The floor was heated which was a nice touch. Complimentary mini bar, lounge and breakfast was wonderful. This hotel was splurge for New Years, but worth every penny!
I have stayedd in a studio suite room from the end of 2014 to the beginning of 2015. The building is old, but the rooms are nicely renovated, which are clean and quiet. The bed is just for me, not too hard and not too soft. Wi-Fi is rapid enough to see Youtube videos. Both Nespresso and a hot-water pot are equipped. Three Nespresso capsules are supplied every day. I think I do not need to say the convenience of the location, which has been told by many other comments.
Although I am totally satisfied with the hotel, I dare to say that the choices of breakfast are not so many.
