On arrival we were informed our room had been upgraded. The room itself was excellent with 2 bay windows over-looking the South Bay. Hotel represented good value for money Interior decor in some areas looked like it needed updating

Buffet all you can eat breakfast and the fact I only paid £60 for the room, had I have paid anymore it would have been excessive in my opinion. 'Leisure facilies' were tired, shabby and broken, pool was freezing cold so unusable. I was appparantly 'upgraded' upon arrival, Having been to the room which was a refurb but was still far away from a 3* rated. I then returned to reception to pose the question "Had I not been upgraded I would be interested to see just what I would have been allocated", reciveing the reply that "I had "only paid £60 not £100" !!!, thankfully so as it's not even worth that. Tell the Ambassador Hotel to show some realistic pictures which truely represent the shabby tired hotel that this really is, Only then may they change things for the better !!!. not recommended to anyone willing to pay more than £40 which would represent good value for money.

We booked a double room with a seaview. The room was very tastefully decorated and the view from the floor-to-ceiling windows were breathtaking during the day and night. Would definitely stay here again. The bathroom was very narrow and claustrophobic and very dated. Although it was clean and it served it's purpose, it was a disappointment compared to the beautiful bedroom.

Quiet location, easy to get to and park (might not be in summer months though) Friendly staff and good food. My wife has difficulty walking so the lift was useful and the room overlooked the sea giving us some lovely views. This was our 3rd short break here and will definately be coming back again. If you can leave booking as late as possible, you can get some excellent bargains. Bathroom door opened onto toilet which made it a bit tight to get in but ok once you were in. Not sure I would want to pay the original £170 per night for this room.

The location and views, the staff were friendly and helpful On the Saturday night we were going to the dance festival along with our group of friends, we had booked out dinner in the restaurant for 6.15 but unfortunately we were still waiting for our starters at 7pm even although we had complained several times re this and explained that we had a further engagement at the dance festival. We eventually got out meal but it was spoiled by the lateness and that we had to hurry so couldn't enjoy it as on the previous night where the service was excellent.

It is very well located for the Spa Complex and the waterfront. The dining room service was very slow with little communication to tell us why.

Views excellent. Newly refurbished so decor so was fresh & modern. Room facilities very good - bed linens fresh, proper tea maker, plenty of power points in the right places. Very pleasant bar area. It has no allocated parking area but they have parking permits and we got within 300m.

The hotel was in a nice postion away from the main town but still within easy walking distance. The room looked as though it had been freshly decorated and had new carpets which was nicely done. Nice large windows with a very partial sea view. Large comfortable bed. Clean. The small pool was a bonus. The food was good. Service was polite and friendly. Although the bedroom had been redecorated the bathroom was not. It was badly in need of replacement and re-tiling. The water pressure on the shower was very good and there was no problem with the hot water supply. The hotel should have a designated smoking area away from the front entrance of the hotel. We are both non-smokers and found it disgusting to have to walk past smokers directly outside the entrance to the hotel and walk on a pavement littered with cigerette ends.Vile. The hotel has no parking and should state that in their blurb. They make it sound as though they have parking which they do not. This was seriously misleading and nearly lead to us cancelling this hotel.

“It is a wonderful building with a rich history, the price was spot on, I took my mother with me and as she is 84 I politely pointed this out and requested a sea view for her, we were both given Premier rooms with big windows superb views, I would recommend room 34, level -2. The staff were very good and the buffet breakfast brilliant, my mother enjoyed her first cooked breakfast for 15 years, bless her. A big thank you to all at The Grand Scarborough” Paul, Boston Spa |
