Peasholm Park at the north bay has lovely walks, cafe and boat rides. The town is ten minutes walk to the beach. Tramway down to the beach at the South Cliff. Great place to visit and I love the fact you can get on the trams up and down from the beachfront seaside part of the town to the main shopping part of the town its very well set out with a good selection of shops, cafes, restaurants and bars. Scarborough has outstanding scenery and to take a different approach to that scenery they have boat trips which are very reasonably priced and great crew. Thers a lot to do in Scarborough there's a small fair picturesque walks a castle arcades and many attractions including a sea life centre, peasholme Park and a open air theatre, close by is Robin hoods Bay and above there is whitby and York is only a short tide away on the train making Scarborough a great location.

Scarborough is a typical northern seaside town so has flashy lights and candy rock on every corner as you'd expect. It also has great pubs and many selling real ale which is what i want, it has a party scene too which i don't want so much [i'm old] lots of eateries and options too, theatres, cinemas and museums so plenty of cultural opportunties. Go there, life's for living right?

Pleasantly surprised as never been to this part of the country before. It was February, so quiet, but that was perfect for me, travelling alone. Scarborough has some very friendly residents and lovely open spaces. I loved Peasholm Park and the climb up to the castle (although too expensive to enter, it’s a ruin after all!). The old Victorian tramway (like a funicular) down to the beach is a lovely retro experience. Wonderful expanse of beach on south and north bays, great for dog walkers (not during summer season). I’m glad I was staying in the South Bay, even though there were the usual tired looking amusement arcades, but wonderful to explore the hilly narrow streets and sedate leafy avenues away from the front. Scarborough is a lovely, clean and welcoming resort, away from the commercialism and teeming tourism of Whitby. I found it difficult to track down anywhere to eat that appealed to me, a choice of a wealth of same old fast food and ‘Tex Mex’ places (overpriced) or very expensive food in hotels. So I struggled with finding somewhere to have dinner. Travelling alone, I am comfortable with eating in a pub, but not in any of those I came across, either there or in Whitby! Despite that one aspect, I am very glad I based myself in Scarborough.
we loved everything about the property. the decor was absolutely beautiful and unique. the room was huge. amazing bathroom. every single thing we needed was there - and even things we didn’t realise we wanted like a mini fridge, milk, home made muffins, a bottle opener and toiletries. The hosts are lovely and the breakfast is very good - they will more or less make you anything you ask for. we have stayed in Scarborough probably around 20 times and this is hands down the best hotel we have stayed in. thoroughly recommend and will be back.
This is the third time we have stayed at the Grand Hotel - on our first visit a few years ago you could sense the lack of investment - however Britannia Hotels have made a real impact on the overall standing of the hotel - even the wonderful frontage has been cleaned - plus, I personally feel that you would struggle to find better value for money in Scarborough - the Breakfast was great and I have not come across a more powerful shower! - the Reception and Breakfast Team were polite and efficient
The single room, although small, was really well designed and had absolutely everything I needed. Very light, nice big window. Decent sized shower and good water pressure. Comfy bed with quality linen. Sky TV . Tea making facilities. Full length mirror with sockets beside it....I've been to 4* hotels that don't think of that! Really friendly staff. As female traveling alone it felt safe. All for £38..... excellent value. Will definitely be back.
The Red Lea is an excellent hotel. It's location makes it an easy walk to Scarborough town centre and to the beach. There is no problem with parking, as there are plenty of on street parking spaces in front of the hotel.
The reception staff are very welcoming and friendly.
The rooms are very clean and comfortable.
Excellent breakfast, with friendly, helpful staff in the dining room.
I would highly recommend and will definitely book again.
If I could give double marks for cleanliness, lovely hosting from Zsuzsanna and all the lovely decor touches of wooden art and pictures (Kevin)..... I would.
A warm welcome, delicious breakfasts and always on hand for the occasional question. The Leeway is perfectly positioned for North Bay/beach (my favourite), and parking was easy too - thanks to the hotel. We had a relaxing stay and would certainly return and recommend to others.
The breakfast was tremendous and delicious! I even come back for dinner each evening, and it was above my expectations! Relaxing pool and Jacuzzi was just what I needed and the pool was heated too! Location was so good.I was able to walk to practically everything I wanted to see! Yes, you could say this was the best vacation I have ever had and the experience with the hotel was of expert quality!
Our 3rd time here, we would never stay anywhere else when we come to Scarborough, it's perfect for my family. They think of everything. Steven, Margaret and their son are all delightful, so friendly and helpful. Ashburton House is firmly in my children's memories, and my son says it's his best holiday. Which makes me laugh as he has been to universal also this year.
Very friendly and helpful team led by Claire.
The property is situated perfect for a short walk to the beach or into town in what I would consider to be the best part of Scarborough.
Parking was easy and permits available. (We managed to park directly outside the hotel.
The rooms are clean and comfortable.
Thanks Claire and team, we’ll be back in a heartbeat, Dan xo
Super easy check in, helpful staff. Free cake on arrival was a treat! We loved the funky decor and the large room was spotlessly clean with great shower and bathroom. Good coffee machine too. We had a nice view out to sea. Hotel is an easy walk to the promenade with loads to do, great spot.
The hotel was a lovely place to stay for a few nights and the rooms had everything you needed. Staff members were friendly and willing to help you out in the best way possible. The location of the hotel was ideal, you had all of Scarborough on your doorstep.
All staff were very friendly and accommodating. It was the cheapest hotel we could find for the date wanted and we were impressed, a massive reduction compared to other hotels, yet was perfect for our needs. We will 100% return when visiting Scarborough!
The hotel was like a bomb site when we arrived, the owner wasn't expecting us the room was dirty 2 half drunk bottles of water on the table in the room, sink was minging we decided not to stay and found somewhere else
Stayed at the Royal Hotel in Scarborough for a one night stay. The accommodation was ensuite with views over the sea-side. Spotless, the staff without exception were professional, friendly and helpful.
We have stayed at this hotel quite a few times now,
The rooms are spacious and very clean, the staff are very friendly and courteous and the breakfast is superb.. best hotel in Scarborough by far..
