With the elegant style of a modern hotel and the good value of a bed and breakfast, this 4-star property is located in a peaceful area of High Wycombe.

On 18 acres of tranquil grounds, surrounded by beautiful Chiltern countryside, Uplands overlooks the Hughenden Valley and combines a classical mansion house with purpose-built, contemporary buildings....

Floodlights on outside all night. Room was in 'daylight' all night. Key had no room ID so had no idea which room I was in. No reception to help. Had to telephone for help.
It was all very nice.
The room was street facing and was not quiet but this is not the hotel's fault.
Basic room for what you were paying. Wifi in the room. Fresh towels. Good shower. Very close to town centre. Man at reception was very welcoming, offering to carry our bags up to our room for us.
You could feel the springs in your back from the mattress as you slept. As it was just my sister and I staying there (23yo, 21yo), it was a bit nerve-wracking staying in a hotel that is known for hosting only builders and contractors that come to High Wycombe when they work out of London. As we were definitely the only girls there. Parking is fairly limited if you don't get there early, and getting in and out can nye on be impossible as it is on such a busy road.
I'm sure when this hotel is refurbished it will be a decent basic place to stay when in the area on business. The rooms were clean and the bed comfortable, with enough stuff in there to make your stay comfortable. Tea coffee etc, decent number of sockets, adjacent en suite, clean fresh sheets and pillows, windows that opened- all good. The owners were very helpful and enthusiastic and I wish them every success with their efforts.
Well this might sound churlish, but I was disappointed that the hotel was under reconstruction when I arrived. This doesn't excuse the tab ends littering the entrance- I hate to see staff outside any front door smoking, nor do I like to see the debris. The shower unfortunately stopped showering mid shower (no doubt due to refurbishment). The wifi I couldn't connect to whatever combination of password I used. The clanking of the metal works out the back early morning. The fact breakfast wasn't included. The fact I wasn't aware it was under refurbishment at time of booking- Had it said this and a reduced price offered I'd have felt informed.
Shower was very dirty and not usable, room was smelly and noisy from traffic. Although staff were polite they need better training to run a hotel
Hotel undergoing refurbishment at time of stay which didn't help. If looking for a basic room close to Wycombe may be worth a stay but not worth going out of the way. Didn't stay for breakfast so can't comment on food.
The hotel and staff gave us the freedom and bed we wanted when we were visiting our son who had just completed his course at the University. We appreciated a room at the back too away from the noise of the traffic. It was also very helpful to us that we were able to leave our car in the car park for an hour of so in the morning of the day of departure.
If we were being picky it would be the noise from the generator/fans from the building next door. The carpet in the bedroom looked rather tired too but clean.
Location and room size
Location was ok
Staff and cleanliness was poor
Nice breakfast friendly staff
Bathroom shabbily decorated paint peeling off on wall. Main electric light in room did not work faulty switch. Wi-Fi signal too poor to connect.
always polite and courteous
the room was old and dated and the bathroom was awful with mould and paint peeling off the walls. .
The woman on check in was very helpful and welcoming and took us to our room. Liked the fan
TV wasn't working Bed was hard Dirty towels Wifi didn't connect Surroundings very loud No shower gel, just soap Shower was very small and doors did not close properly No glasses just mugs
Staff and owners were lovely down to earth ,would definately go back because of the friendliness .
It was a bit noisy off the front road you could hear everything and the garage was just next door .
dirty carpet dirty windows poor towels
The manager was very kind.
Unkind staff looking dirty, untidy, and smelly (one night one of them was watching TV with his bare feet on the desk in the lobby). Dirty carpets and holsteries in bedroom, dirty feet towels in the bathroom, dirty tiles and door (we used bleach to clean it), awful stained dirty bath curtain (we had to replace at our own), there were bugs in one bed (flees bit my daughter during one night and matress had to be replaced). Unfortunately had to stay there for 10 long days... A real NIGHTMARE! Will never forget it! TO AVOID!
IT was close to town & Friendly
banging doors & screeching doors
It had its own parking
We thought it was very untidy and ill kept, could have done with a big sweep around the whole place.
WiFi was terrible very noisy area
Cereals in own box. Transferring carton of orange from one table to the another.
Bedding was clean,big comfy bed
Cleanliness poor, disabled facilities shocking
It was dirty, dingy & dated.
Everything else - very poor condition, kitchen very low standard - didn't bother with breakfast and left a day early
