The staff are brilliant. Nothing too much trouble - and very discreet too. Will definitely go back
Not much to not like. We could criticise the Wi-Fi, but to be honest you are staying in a castle with very thick walls......
The wine presentation was excellent. The breakfast was lovely.
The description of each course of the tasting menu was rushed and garbled.
want to book something special amberley castle will not disappoint. From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave every thing about it is wonderful. rooms spotless, comfortable, staff friendly and helpful. grounds well kept. so peaceful.
didn't stay long enough.
Comfortable, luxurious and great service
Everything was perfect
Beautiful surroundings, great food & stunning rooms.
If you like somewhere to sit and read a paper in complete peace & quiet, then this is the place you! There's three nice living rooms & a nice restaurant but there is no music or background noise, seems to lack a relaxed atmospher. Also, no milk in the rooms? Great tea & coffee making facilities but no milk!
Room upgrade with a four poster bed. Enjoyed sleeping in the castle walls and lobed the surroundings
Wonderful service and superb food
I cannot afford to stay more often
The building is gorgeous. The dining room was imposing but comfortable. The staff were very pleasant.
The bathrooms are in need of updating. The breakfast coffee was rather grim. Breakfast service was a bit slow and should have been a bit more attentive - eg clearing away bowls etc.
I really liked the cosy but very comfortable feel of the venue. Although the weather was dreadful the gardens still managed to look lovely, and I shall certainly return for another stay.
I felt the lighting could have been better in the room. I didnt find it easy to read, although it was an exceptionally dark day. I would have liked the option to switch on another light.
The location the ambience and a superb Staff.
Nothing I did not like
The water pressure of our shower was good. Our deluxe suite, the Luffa suite, was well sized and was very spacious. Its bathroom and toilet was clean and well equipped with shower gels, shower robes, towels, etc.
At dinner and breakfast my cod fish and scrambled eggs were too salty. The deluxe suite was somewhat dirty! We felt bug bites from near the sofa, and there was an odd smell in the carpet near the writing table area. The shower screen in the bath was very small; water splashed onto the floor. The suite was not inside the castle, just across the castle grounds. This meant the free wifi was very hard to reach with low connection! We resorted to using 3G. Over the past years, we have stayed in some other various castles, but I think this one has given me the lowest impression of them all.
Attentiveness of staff- mostly they were excellent and very profesional-lovely room and wonderful food
unusually one of the staff was a bit off hand- noticed it because it is so rare when we go there
Fantastic use of castle ruins as a backdrop to an old classic hotel. The landscape was beautiful, the ability to ramble through the gardens and ruins was unique. The hotel buildings themselves were charming in a different way. Staff was very friendly and the cuisine a delight. Dinner was genuinely intimate - the room, the cuisine and the service.
While comfortable, the room was slightly on the small side and the stairs are always a greater or lesser challenge to the mature. Sign posting at the front gate could be better - did not realize the gate was automatic (but slow) and moved on before it opened twice and could not figure out how to get in. GPS is a blessing in finding the hotel.
The grounds are lovely and we had a really excellent meal in the restaurant, but our enjoyment was later spoilt (see opposite)
he soundproofing between our room and the one next door was wholly inadequate, especially for such an expensive hotel, and we had a very noisy couple next to us (television, speaking loudly etc). We could hear every word. The night staff kindly moved us at 10:30 pm, but the disruption ruined an otherwise enjoyable stay. I wrote to the hotel manager in a constructive manner to formalise the complaint, but I have not received any reply. I detect some arrogance here.
No privacy with Knepp Room
Everything was perfect
Would like a spar to make it unbeatable
Beautiful secluded hotel. Attentive staff, and truly exceptional dining
I booked a stay at Amberley Castle for my boyfriends birthday, once the staff were aware of this we were upgraded to the honeymoon suite for no extra charge and it was just incredible. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Everyone was lovely and went out of their way to make sure we had a great stay. The grounds are gorgeous and def worth a stroll around in the early morning. It was peaceful, comfortable and beautiful, we couldn't have asked for more.
The gardens were superior.
The bathroom was beautiful, but it did not have a door. The staff seemed rushed, and in one case, lacking common courtesy. We have stayed in England for three weeks, including Langley Castle. The staff at Amberley Castle was the least welcoming. Wifi was non-existent.
Unparalleled attention from all the staff committed to delivering first class service. The cuisine well deserved of the many awards it has received, with an array of ingredients making our dining experience a myriad of flavours. The ambiance of the medieval opulence gives this hotel a unique experience to be treasured.
I loved the castle and room.
I found the restaurant overly formal. I would rather experience fine dining in a relaxed environment.
Very beautiful property with a wow factor that is off the scale! Modern rooms with hints of medieval style, and such a comfortable bed! Lovely staff and a homely yet grand feel. Very nice breakfast.
Calling reception for milk seems awkward, we were in a 'Classic' room and no fridge/chiller was supplied. Generally very clean but the odd cobweb can still be expected, perhaps par for the course with such a rural character property. On the expensive side, but still good value I'd say.
