I booked one night at the Amberley Inn for my wife's Birthday as she loves the country-side & old buildings with history and character! Plus... It's not to far from our home! The pictures on the website gave us the feeling of a, Wuthering Hights Style Setting. Well; the staff were first class. And also the food was excellent. Once you had ordered dinner, the waiting time was minimal. The setting was Beautiful... Just what we expected. Although the photos on the web-site seem to promise a lot more than what you actually get...??? Well; The room was old, dated and in need of some serious refurbishment, as did the rest of the hotel. Our room lacked a chair and a dresser with a mirror for my lady do her hair and make-up etc, etc. and an easy chair to relax in, with the daily paper! Our bed was very lumpy and uncomfortable. The tea spoons in the room were sticky and unwashed from the previous user, The bath had no shower screen or curtain for the shower attachment. My wife and I frequently go away for weekends and The Amberley Hotel is by far; the most disappointing of them all to date! We came away feeling very let down... like we had stayed in a Hostel,,, rather than a 3 star Hotel. I would just like to re-iterate here; that the FOOD and STAFF were... First Class.

We choose Amberley Inn due to its proximity to family, and accommodation was difficult to get for that weekend. It sufficed our needs.

The proprietor was extremely welcoming, the room clean, quiet and comfortable with tea and coffee facilities, and even the opportunity to make real coffee. The choice of breakfast was amazing from kippers, haddock, full english to continental. No packets on the table, the attention to detail did not go amiss. Would most certainly stay here again.

We found the Amberley Inn to be very comfortable and clean, the staff and owners were very, very helpful and accommodating, we occupied two rooms during our stay and both were lovely. We are hoteliers ourselves so we understand how difficult it can be to make improvements whilst operating on a daily basis but The Amberley has all the basic atmosphere a good hotel needs and I am sure will get better and better, we will look forward to a return visit in the future.

The location was fantastic, with stunning views. Amberley is a charming Cotswold village, utterly unspoilt and surrounded by beautiful countryside. The owners of the hotel, who were very pleasant, have only been there about six months, and are in the process of putting there mark on the place. In time I am sure it will be of a much higher standard than it currently is. The breakfast was of a very good standard. We didn't dine at the Amberley because we wanted to try the Black Horse in the village - very good. Our room, no. 7, was a disappointment. We were expecting a view, but were at the rear, over the kitchen. We had to ask for the fan to be turned off at about 11p.M. so we could sleep. Having the window open also meant the room smelt of cooking. It was a warm weekend, otherwise we would have been cold. There did not appear to be any form of heating either in the bedroom or the bathroom (?), and this meant that our towels were still wet in the morning. No shower curtain made showering difficult, and the basin had a large crack. There was no room for a chair, and so we had to sit on the bed. We felt in its current condition that the price was too high for this room. The owner was sympathetic, but could not move us as the hotel was full.

Friendly staff, scenic view. The suite I booked well in advance was given to a couple with two young children and we were put in a standard double room - had I been told this in advance I would have cancelled my booking as I paid the extra as a special treat for us. What was worse when I went to pay they tried to charge me for the suite!! The website presents the Inn as something special when it was nothing more than an expensive b & b!!

Beautiful surrounding and the hotel is done up to a great standard with an eye to details. The room was very comfortable. Pub has great selection of drinks and great atmosphere. Both dinner and breakfast were very tasty, and there were lovely walks around the hotel. Staff were very friendly. If I have a chance, I would love to stay here again!

The position is stunning with tremendous views from some of the bedrooms. The staff were very friendly and welcoming . We stayed on an extremely cold night and the open log fire in the bar was very welcome. Our meal from the bar menu and breakfast the following morning were both very good. The hotel changed hands last October and the new owners are updating rooms on an ongoing basis. The room we had had not been updated and although clean and comfortable and having stunning views was very cold in spite of a large radiator and extra heater. The ensuite bathroom had no heating at all and was freezing !!! We would certainly go back in the summer

Location was supberb and staff very attentive and friendly. Food was fantastic, highly recommend everyone tries the restaraunt. Log fires and cosy nooks very romantic. warm welcome and traditional decor and surroundings. Hotel is undergoing a gentle facelift but does not detract from its charm. Bathroom was chilly, maybe could be recrified with a small radiator or heater. other than that great hotel would return and recommend.

Could not get the mixer on the shower to work, either too hot or too cold. Toast did not turn till breakfast was finished. No brown or red sauce with breakfast. And for £85 I thought it was on the dear side.

The new owners are injecting a vibrancy and drive into these beautiful "olde" premises. There was a friendly welcome, a pleasant and enterating atmosphere in the bar, with some first class local ales. An excellent location, with beautiful views, a character property, good food, good bar and welcoming hosts. Thoroughly recommended.
