The Inn has been under new management for about a month. The hotel had , obviously, been a little run down and the new management have worked hard to raise standards. We were made most welcome and the food was good. There is still work to bee done but our group of 5 will be back there in March for the Cheltenham Gold Cup meeting.(Horse racing).

Staff/new owners excellent - helpful and very accommodating. Food good and staff/owners adaptable to any request. Having only been in situ less than three weeks we were advised that there were plans to update and re- carpet areas of the hotel. Certainly value for money with a lovely ambience that will hopefully be retained and beats hands down the souless rooms of motorway accommodation. Once the re-vamp is completed there would be nothing we didn't like.

We were made to feel welcome and the new owners have done very well in 6 weeks. The staff, particularly the bar and resturant were excellent. We will look forward to another visit. Thank you

The proprietors are very friendly and the rates competitive. Having only been there several weeks, they are still in the process of re decoration so some areas of this potentially elegant, period hotel are still a bit worn. Our room was very clean with very white linen and spectacular views over the Nailsworth Valley. The hotel opens directly onto the common with nosey but friendly cows roaming freely. The food was exquisite, prepared and cooked by Trevor's wife, a cordon bleu chef, and was very reasonably priced. We particularly liked the cosy snuggery with blazing log fire. We were made to feel very much at home. Thoroughly recommendable. An ideal place to spend Christmas. Www.booking.com does not seem to be connecting up because when we arrived, they had no notification of our booking even though we had a print out confirming it. This could have led to double booking.

I have been to The Amberley Inn four times now, some for business but the most recent trips for pleasure. It is not often I go back to the same place more than once but we love the country house feel of the Inn. You really are made to feel welcome and at home and the food is great. You don't walk straight into a bar, more a entrance hallway that has it's own fireplace. If you like stone houses, big fireplaces, freshly cooked food and a place to get away from it all, this is for you!

The location was ideal and the countryside surrounding the area is superb. My family originated from the Stroud valley area and our reason for this choice was to take a trip down memory lane. The area ic full of places to see and things to do.

The place was very hospitable. The rooms are amazing in size and level of comfort. The service was friendly and helpful. The owners have only been in 2 weeks but I can see they will probably really upgrade the place particularly the food and decor. Brilliant location for sightseeing, walking, cycling in the Cotswolds. Will definitely go back.

The position is stunning with tremendous views from some of the bedrooms. The staff were very friendly and welcoming . We stayed on an extremely cold night and the open log fire in the bar was very welcome. Our meal from the bar menu and breakfast the following morning were both very good. The hotel changed hands last October and the new owners are updating rooms on an ongoing basis. The room we had had not been updated and although clean and comfortable and having stunning views was very cold in spite of a large radiator and extra heater. The ensuite bathroom had no heating at all and was freezing !!! We would certainly go back in the summer

The very friendly staff, who would ensure that you had everything you required. The roaring log fire in the lounge where we ate our evening meal. The fabulous cheese board. The beautiful location.

Location was supberb and staff very attentive and friendly. Food was fantastic, highly recommend everyone tries the restaraunt. Log fires and cosy nooks very romantic. warm welcome and traditional decor and surroundings. Hotel is undergoing a gentle facelift but does not detract from its charm. Bathroom was chilly, maybe could be recrified with a small radiator or heater. other than that great hotel would return and recommend.

Could not get the mixer on the shower to work, either too hot or too cold. Toast did not turn till breakfast was finished. No brown or red sauce with breakfast. And for £85 I thought it was on the dear side.

The new owners are injecting a vibrancy and drive into these beautiful "olde" premises. There was a friendly welcome, a pleasant and enterating atmosphere in the bar, with some first class local ales. An excellent location, with beautiful views, a character property, good food, good bar and welcoming hosts. Thoroughly recommended.

The hospitality and quality of breakfast were excellent even though the owners had only taken over the Amberley a week before, so well done. Next time we are in the area Amberley Inn would definetely be our first choice for accommodation. The only observation we found was that there was a lack of shelving, towel rails, hooks and shower curtain in the ensuite (room 7). The glass shelf above the sink was loose and not level - items have the potential to slide off into the sink and could damage the sink which appears to have happened before. We appreciate that a lot of items had been removed by the previous owner but look forward to seeing the new refurbished Amberley.

The location was superb and the bar was comfortable. It compares to Fawlty Towers. We paid for a superior room; the carpets were filthy, the remote controls did not work, wall paper was hanging off the wall, the wall lights did not have shades on all of them, the bath was chipped, the milk was off, the cream was off and there was no heating in the room which was a necessity as the temperature dropped dramatically at night.

The management were new - just three days in charge! However they were friendly and attentive if a little disjointed - I wonder how many of us could take on a rather full b&b and getting running like clockwork in three days - I suspect none of us - so good luck to the new management - they deserve to do well and I understand they are going to be refurbishing the rooms etc which will be a labour of love.

It was conveniently located and in very pleasant surroundings The owners said that they had taken over the hotel only 4 days before we arrived and therefore we may find some minor inconveniences. However despite this warning we were not impressed by the food which although of good quality was served cold both at breakfast and at Sunday lunch. The staff were were slow and disinterested. They wanted to charge full price for children's portions which they only half heartedly arranged. We had to complain and then received a 20% reduction for all the food. We might go back but we would expect to see a dramatic improvement in service
