Superb food though not cheap.Very good central location. Our initial room was small and the smell of food overpowering. We asked to be moved and the second room was much better and more modern

My wife and I have just stayed for three nights and found the hotel faultless. Staff were truly excellent, food good and the pool and facilities were a tremendous bonus - we really did have a very comfortable and relaxing stay. Surrounding countryside can only be described as beautiful!

The hotel was peaceful and comfortable and the pre-christmas rate was good value for money. My wife and I were very happy with everything except that we were looking forward to a swim in your wonderful leisure centre which we could not have as the pool was closed for maintenance. I wish you would, like the Langdale Chase, refrain from playing piped music. I think that musical tastes very so much that you play it you are probably annoying somebody. If you really must have it make sure that it really is background music and that it is not just the manager's personal choice.

Comfortable, well appointed rooms with excellent housekeeping. Courteous, friendly and efficient staff. Centrally located in Ambleside within a few yards of good restaurants and shops. Walking in the rain from the Club Annexe to the Hotel for breakfast every morning was not a good start to the day.. Parking was difficult at peak times, although the staff were always willing to help. Food was not as good as we had hoped after reading other reviews.

Superb breakfasts - great start for the day, excellent gym facilities, a pool you can really swim in, together with hot tub, steam rooms, etc. Very comfortable room. Situated in the middle of Ambleside so very handy for shops. Easy access to the whole of the Lake District.

Very good breakfasts and clean rooms The fact that we were put in a lodge room which is not part of the main hotel. We had specifically booked a room in the hotel but were told on arrival there were none available.

our room which was a club room was very comfortable, well furnished, with a well appointed modern bathroom, staff were friendly and very helpful, there was a good selection at breakfast of both hot & cold food, the hot being freshly cooked on request, the leisure facilities were excellant with modern gym, indoor pool, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi & outdoor hot tub all clean & well maintained, the hotel was well appointed in the middle of the village. there was very little not to like about this hotel, the only comment I would make is the choice on the restaurant menu was limited.

I Thought the location of the hotel was excellent. The leisure facillities are very good.Me and my partner enjoyed a lovely meal at the Italian Tarrantelas where we dined 3 years ago and it didnt dissapoint. Me and my partner stayed at The Salutation Hotel 3 years ago, where we enjoyed everything about it immensly.apart from the room being a little on the small side. This time we paid more and booked on-line for a club room. When we arrived we were told on check in that our room was in the lodge. This upset my partner,as we felt we were not part off the hotel. If i knew i was staying in a lodge after paying extra for a club room i would have stayed else where.

I liked the fact that the staff were excellent but not intrusive, the rooms were spotless and clean, the facilities were all we wanted and fre car parking thrown in as well It wasnot a case of didn't like, there were a couple of irritations, they were the elctric clock in the room, was at the wrong time and day and no one knew how to change it, silly but irritating, the other was the vent axia fan in the bathroom was very noisy as were other rooms and it was again irritating

Well decorated room which, for a centre of town location. was very quiet. The bar and bistro area were extremely comfortable and welcoming. Food was simple but of high quality, and well cooked. The Spa and pool gave an added dimension to our holiday when the weather was bad. We will be returning.

Just stayed here for 3 nights with my boyfirend as we wanted a relaxing break just before christmas. Neither of us had been to the lake district before but chose this hotel for location and leisure facilities. Excellent hotel. Great location, we didnt use the car at all, we didnt need to, shops, restauraunts and pubs right on the door step. Lovely walks to waterfalls and Lake Windermere from hotel. Staff friendly, accomodating and helpful. Room very clean as was rest of hotel and maid service efficient and daily (usually done whilst we were at breakfast) Leisure facilities were lovely, used the pool/sauna/jacuzzi every day and the showers in the changing room were so good and clean that we didnt end up using the one in our room! The outdoor hot tub superb, a real added luxury. We requested a room with a nice view by email when booking and we got a room right on the front of the building with a large balcony and gorgeous views over ambleside and accross the fells. Breakfast was very high standard, excellent choice and good quality. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend to anyone who appreciates value for money. There are more budget hotels available with similar locations so if a budget price is your main priority, book a budget hotel. My Mum is already looking into a stay here in the spring with her friends on my recommendation.
