Best Western Ambleside Salutation Hotel  

Superb food though not cheap.Very good central location.

Our initial room was small and the smell of food overpowering.We asked to be moved and the second room was much better and more modern

Excellent location. Room very comfortable, and jacuzzi bath was an added bonus after a days walking. Spa treatments available on site and the food in the restaurant was excellent - the breakfast choices were top notch. All staff were friendly and helpful and were at hand to give advice on local matters eg directions etc. I shall definitely try to get a room again (was unsuccessful ingetting one for my next visit for the Bank Holiday. Obviously a popular choice!)

Brilliant stay! I asked the staff if we could upgrade (it was our first couple of nights as a married couple) and they obliged by putting us in the woodlands suite! Very friendly staff, loved the spa facilities and Ambleside was right on our doorstep! Thank you!

Small room, restraunt expensive.

Great location in heart of town and near all the great walks. Fab spa facilities - favourite being the outdoor jacuzzi which was so welcome for aching muscles after the fell walking we had done. Also a fantastic breakfast!

Restaurant good for evening meal lots of choice. Excellent breakfast huge could have double of everything lots of choice. Pool good and outside hot tub especially in the snow! Rooms clean and warm

the staff were great in the restaurant and at breakfast but others at reception could have been a bit more lively and enthusiastic when talking to you -they didnt really sell the hotel. pool needs more reclining chairs by it .

A very well run Hotel, with good and friendly staff. The lounge layouts were very comfortable, modern designs and many very nice effects to gaze at! Good choice for breakfast and the one meal we had was very good also.

The 4ft 6in bed was not good, in this day and age one expects a 5ft bed in every room! We found out that there were rooms with 5ft beds at a dearer rate. The wash basin in the bathroom was swamped by the large taps, so you could not get your head in it, poor design.

Just very good all round

The Stock Gyll Lodge which is adjacent to the main building had recently been decorated and consequently the strong smell of paint pervaded everything, to the extent that my experience was not in the least enhanced. Perhaps that's why the room was released at such a reasonable price.

A brilliant location for walking and eating out in the evening. We never used the car to go anywhere. There was a secure car park next to the hotel. The health club had a good sized pool, sauna and outdoor hot tub, ideal after a day's walking. The breakfasts were excellent with a wide choice of fresh fruit and cooked items in any combination you wanted. The public rooms were modern and light: just right for relaxing or having a drink. The bedrooms were good, especially the shower and the bathroom. Best of all were the staff. They were all so helpful, friendly and polite. Can't wait to go back.

Good location, furnished to very high standards. Comfortable room. The staff were very friendly. An excellent breakfast with plenty of choice. I chose this hotel mainly because of its location in the Lake District and the Leisure facilities were an added bonus, making it into a relaxing weekend. Although the price for our one night stay at the weekend was on the high side, the hotel and its facilities made it good value for money. I would highly recomend this hotel and will make a return visit in the future.
