I liked how friendly Kathryn was, how thoughtful she was and all the lovely touches, from hand made biscuits in the room to brilliant breakfasts. I am returning in two weeks.
We were staying in Shaftesbury to attend a funeral and arrived in miserable weather. Kathryn was there to greet us and made sure we had everything we needed and the atmosphere immediately cheered us up. Ampersand House is very close to the town. All the rooms are beautifully thought out demonstrate Kathryn's expertise in interior design. The night's stay was comfortable and breakfast was super - loved the comb honey. Also enjoyed meeting the friendly cats and dogs.
Kathryn had thought of everything so there was nothing we did not like!
Beautiful rooms and delicious breakfast in a peacefull B&B ideal for business or leisure. B&B owner so lovely
We liked Kathryn. A more gracious hostess will not be found in all of England. The accommodations were first rate. The food was exceptional. The location was very convenient to town, A wonderful experience.
We didn't like not knowing of Kathryn and Ampersand House much earlier.
Kathryn was great and made us welcome in her home. Her breakfast was excellent too!
We couldn't stay another night!
Everything- as created by the lovely land lady, Kathryn. A lady of style !
Having to leave
Proximity to Town
The hostess was friendly and willing to do anything to assist, from making welcoming scones to taking pictures for us. Also the general taste and atmosphere was a lovely blend of contemporary and period- very relaxing. Only wish we could have stayed longer!
It was a bit anonymous from the street therefore we passed by- no gps.
Excellent location, very lovely welcome, gorgeous room with very thoughtful touches such as premium toiletry products and hair straighteners as well as a hair dryer. The owners have thought of your every need and catered for it. I will definitely stay here again and recommend to my friends.
Friendly sophisticated atmosphere with a helpful and competent hostess and the bonus of two delightful cats
Ampersand House is a lovely mix of modern and retro. Clean comfortable and welcoming. The best bit though is the very thoughtful Kathryn who treated us like VIP's throughout. A glass of wine on arrival and a fantastic breakfast in the morning. Ampersand House has a heart.
Hot scones with jam and clotted cream on arrival and tea, with lots of information readily available from a very enthusiastic host
it is difficult to put a finger on but an earlier check in would have been nice say 14.00 not 16.00 and no easy chairs in the bedroom but other wise no further comments
Kathryn gave us a friendly welcome to this lovely house. Our large room had quality teas and homemade biscuits. The bathroom was stylish and well equipped. Breakfast was delicious.
We were welcomed by Kathryn who couldn't have been more pleasant. We were shown to our lovely spacious room, which was very tastefully decorated with a huge and very smart bathroom en-suite. We were offered freshly baked scones and tea in the lovely dining room. The bed was extremely comfortable and at breakfast the choice and quality of items available was exceptional. Kathryn couldn't have been more fiendly and we would definitely stay again in the future.
Clean, cozy and lovely place to stay. Extremely great attention and service. I absolutely recomend this place.
Kathryn is very welcoming and friendly and made our stay very pleasant.
Could have a list of breakfast options available for selection the evening before in order to save time if a cooked breakfast is required.
A warm welcome from Kathryn and her cats to a well-organised house. Scones and tea were offered - and accepted - and served with generous amounts of clotted cream and jam. Bedroom and bathroom were well laid out and well furnished, offering 3 types of tea and fresh milk on request. A comfortable bed, good quality radio, fresh water and home-made amaretti biscuits enhanced the welcome and our stay. Kathryn was helpful regarding dinner options and we followed her recommendation and had a nice pub meal.
House clean, hostess great, breakfast superb!! Adorable cats.
The House sign board is too small and colour blend in with the pillar. Making it difficult to see while driving, easily go past it.
A most interesting place to stay with attractive comfortable rooms and a very good breakfast with plenty of choice and a very friendly welcome.
Although situated on main road we found the house hard to spot as Ampersand House shares a driveway with Chalet Hotel next door. ( We missed the email with precise instructions as we were already travelling.)
Very friendly host, pleasant room and lovely breakfast.
i liked everything
My husband, one year old and I had a wonderful 2 night stay recently. Kathryn was a super host and we felt really well looked after. The breakfast menu was one of the best we have ever seen and we enjoyed every moment of our stay. We highly recommend Ampersand House - it truly is a (very stylish) home away from home.
Breakfast was terrible. Tasteless bacon and peculiar sausages. The owner and chef is a vegetarian which may tell you something.
Everything - We have no hesitation in recommending Ampersand House. When we arrived, we were greeted with pavlova and a jug of Pimms. Our room was very spacious with crisp white bedlinen and wonderfully soft towels. A lovely touch was the fresh flowers, hand made biscuits and freshly filtered water. The breakfast selection was excellent with locally sourced produce and freshly baked bread. The owner Kathryn could not have been more welcoming and on a particularly hot day had left iced water and a choice of sorbets for us on our return. The attention to detail and concern for our comfort and enjoyment was second to none. We will definitely be staying again!
We loved our stay at Ampersand. We often visit Shaftesbury and will be returning on future visits. The rooms and facilities were exceptional. Breakfast was top quality and we were well looked after by the hostess. Thank you.
Kathryn is the most caring host you can imagine. She serves delicious breakfast, makes the best scones and cooks fantastic dinner. The house is furnished stylishly with lots of nice details. You'll find fresh flowers and homemade cookies in your room. Staying at Ampersand House is like staying in a five-star Hotel but with a wonderful familiar atmosphere!
