눉1. Based upon reviews I booked this hotel about a month before arrival.
2. By the time of booking I have advised that I'll arrive by midnight.
3. A week before arrival, got a mail advising me that I'll be charged for late arrival. I am a constant traveler, never happen that I was "punished" for late arrival.
On receiving the mail I called the hotel and asked to cancel the reservation (it was 7 days before arrival, still in the "allowed" time to cancel. The hotel refuse to cancel the reservation !
4. I arrived by midnight, I thought the receptionist is waiting for me (this was the excuse to charge me extra money BUT, no, I had to wake up the receptionist... had to pay pay 10 GBP CASH and didn't get a receipt !!!
I was promised that I'll have a space to park the car - no space was reserved (had to get up early in order to move the car on the following morning) - The hotel punished me for the late arrival BUT did not keep the promise to have a space to park my car...
5. I was asked (very impolitely !) to pay for my stay, no credit card - cash or debit card or, to be charged 2% extra for paying with credit card - NEVER came across a situation where I can't pay with credit card (not that it matters, but, I didn't investigate whether it is mentioned "somewhere" in small letters) and, again, had to pay the extra 10 GBP in cash with no receipt !
I have read some other reviews - I totally agree with what other wrote like "staff were arrogant, rude and dispiteful" or, "and the staff were cold and totally unhelpful..." - It would be better for the "Manager at Anchor House Hotel" to avoid a respond (to a customer / guest) like "...lies written about business on the internet:.
