Situated in Amesbury, in scenic Wiltshire, George Hotel is a 5-minute drive from Stonehenge. The historical hotel was built in the 13th-century, and features a traditional restaurant and ale bar.

Once a 15th century coaching Inn, the White Hart has been converted to a modern, comfortable inn with character and many period features.
Score from 134 reviews Very good
Friendly staff. Room reasonably comfortable and good breakfast included in price so OK VFM but for a one night stay only.
No restaurant. Very thin bedroom walls so every little noise overheard - did not make for a good night's sleep.
Rooms No heating No evening restaurant
Value for money, staff and rooms.
The evening dining arrangements where not up to much. You have to eat in a small bar and not always everything on the menu available. When you have travelled any distance all day you need a decent evening meal and the location of the hotel is not that convenient to eat elsewhere.
A good stop over for the money and one of the best breakfasts I've had at a motel style hotel in fact fantastic, the rooms may be a little dated but they are clean and comfortable and all you need when travelling. The staff were very polite and helpful and looked after our needs, all in all I would recommend this for a stop over stay.
The bar closed too early but I guess the batman has to get some sleep as he doubles as a waiter at breakfast.
Staff were excellent, very helpful, providing maps and directions. Very attentive around the hotel, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was good and the evening meals were good too. Clean, quiet and comfortable.
It was a very nice hotel with only one small negative. I had the window open, as it was quite warm, and could smell cigarette smoke from people smoking outside.
Bathroom V clean. Breakfast brilliant.
Room too small and bed uncomfortable. Noise from other guests/TV's too loud.
The room we had was small, in the annex but very comfortable with tea and coffee making facilities and the bathroom was very clean. Ideal for a one night stay but not for longer.
The restaurant was not open for dinner on the Friday evening. There were only bar snacks available. The young man on the bar was very inexperienced. He did not know what a Martini was, let alone how to serve it.
Friendly reception staff
Property very dated, window was rotten and frame taped together. Walls had screws in which should have been removed but just painted over. Pillows of poor quality. Very noisy. Have stayed in better places for a lot less
Rooms very quiet. Staff very helpful.
Nothing comes to mind.
Welcoming staff,spacious room,lack of outside noise,comfortable bed
The bath was hazardous with no handles and very smooth shape
The location and the price were about right, and our room was spotlessly clean. The staff were working hard, and pleasant
We were unfortunately above the party room with a wedding on and couldn't have the window open as it was above the smoking area. the hotel is being run on a very tight budget but needs alot of investment to bring it up to scratch, I would recommend it but not to couples, more a group of lads or workers.
Staff on arrival very welcoming and helpful
Wardrobe rail collapsed dripping toilet cistern kept me awake breakfast not the best cold plates
Not a lot to like unfortunately. Breakfast staff very helpful.
I certainly wouldn't stay here again. The only staff that were very helpful was the breakfast staff (well done to them) Other staff were not at all helpful or inviting.
Very hard to find, and staff could not give very clear directions. Bedroom clean but rather tired-looking, and with broken floorboards under carpet. Only half an hour into the breakfast period, the food and coffee were half-cold.
That it was clean and very hospitable.
Just one niggle, through the night it was very noisy as though the walls were made of cardboard.
Pleasant staff, room spacious clean and tidy, lovely breakfast. Plenty of private parking.
The friendly and helpful staff, the cleanliness standards and towels and an amazing breakfast.
On the second night (saturday) there was a party downstairs and the music was a bit too loud.
Close to the evening function we were attending.
This hotel is tired and does not come up to it's name 'quality'. What's the point of having an hairdryer in the middle of the wall if there is no 'mirror' to see into. rooms very basic, place needs knocking down and starting again. However, the staff were very good and friendly, bless them.
Toilet not flushing properly cold shower in morning cold breakfast two days running and very angry my son was charged twice for his stay he should be given at least an apology he has to wait five days to get his money back sorry would be embarrassed to recomend you to anyone its no good saying u r having a revamp it should still ve spot on when u r charging people mrs m noyce
always stay here no better value anywhere in andover breakfast excellent
Everything really, Staff were good, the Hotel was clean & Tidy, Good Hearty Breakfast with plenty to go at, we will certainly use again on our trips South to visit family.
Nothing much, just the décor could do with a little modernisation.
Location, close to town and major road network.
Hotel very dated and tired looking. Unqualified staff. Poor bar and meal service. Poor breakfast - food cold and uninviting - service area inadequate and dysfunctional. No head board and peeling paint on wall around bed.
The comfort, quietness and cleanliness of the room and the general helpfulness of the staff. The food was adequate and well cooked and the visit was "value for money"
The room was not ready at the advertised time but an explanation for this was given and was understandable.
Nice location and grounds
Hotel was grubby and needs serious investment. Food kept warm for ages at breakfast - vast quantities of food spoiled by being cooked far too early and kept.
Pleasant comfortable and quiet hotel. The staff were very polite and helpful. Just a short walk to the town center yet rural.
Cost of internet, if we both connected to it it would cost almost £50 for 24hrs. Restaurant closed for evening meals.
