Score from 96 reviews Wonderful
The hotel is nestled just below Symonds Yat Rock and stands exclusively in grounds of almost 5 acres, overlooking the river. It has terraced gardens of magnolia trees and a well established wisteria.

In the heart of the Wye Valley, this traditional English country Inn overlooks the River Wye and ancient Goodrich Castle. It offers a modern Restaurant Grill and bright, airy rooms.
Score from 420 reviews Very good
Friendly staff, clean, fanrastic food and great location.
Very small private parking for at least 3 cars only
The beds are very comfortable and the food was good value.
It was noisy due to the nightclub.
Rooms were large and clean
Location next to a loud pub!
Lovely helpful staff esp the asst manager Amy
It is less hotel and more a pub with a few rooms
The room had just been re-furbished. The bathroom was modern and the shower was good, except the entry was very narrow. The breakfast was very good, and the dining room spacious.
The car park was dirty. The room smelled of paint. The radiator was red hot all night with no means of turning it off. Had to open the window but the noise fom the street was so annoying went on 'til 3 o'clock am. Hardly slept.
bedroom was excellent a stunning place to stay. Facilities and breakfast were also very good, people friendly and helpful and great value for money
Not somewhere if you are looking for a lot to do in the town as quite limiting but so close to Symonds Yat that didn't really matter
Big comfortable bed staff friendly lovely bathroom
Manager was very stressed when I arrived, however did apologise later. room was really stuffy as hot weekend and had no fan/air con. so I was torn between being too hot but quieter or having the door open and being disturbed by street noise and drunks
The room had original features and the breakfast was very good
The Hotel has no parking. We were fortunate as we stayed on a Saturday night when the public parking restrictions are relaxed
The hotel is above a pub/night club that everyone from the village appears to go to. We stayed on a Saturday night, where the resident DJ played songs till midnight in the pub. Then as the clock struck 12, the DJ, all of the bar staff and all of the customers moved upstairs to a night club called Magnums! We got free entry as we were staying in the hotel. Bizarrely, the lady at te hotel reception desk who have us our room keys, is also the same lady on the door I the nightclub stamping everyone's hands! It was a unique night I say the least in the small forest town of Coleford, and one which I'll gladly have again! Also, upgrading to a deluxe room is well worth it as the four poster bed comes with 2 mattresses! Breakfast is included and it's a full English! A great place to stay if you want to go cycling in the Forest of Dean as it's a short taxi/drive away from Pedal A Bike Away. Close to Lydney train station too.
People kind of just stared at us in the pub cause they knew we weren't from the forest...
