Reception and restaurant staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Excellent breakfast for the money! Our basement room was small and faced onto the busy road. The bathroom window did not shut tight so there was some noise from traffic and late night pedestrians. Not a major problem.

The staff was very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was excellent. The hotel is very conveniently located both with respect to the University an the West End and the city center. Internet is for free and reasonably fast (always appreciated!) and there are enough restaurants, bars and pubs within ~15min walking distance. The room clearly showed its age and is in some need of a cosmetic makeover. The bathroom was tiny and a bit beyond its prime as well, the semi-underground location of my room gave it a somewhat dark and gloomy atmosphere.

The room was quiet and warm (actually a little too warm but we turned the heating down). It was very close to the Kelvingrove and SECC. Excellent bars and restaurants very close to the guest house. We paid a very reasonable price for the room.

A real English style guest house. Charming and perfect for my purpose, which was a comfortable place to stay while on a business trip. Room was nice and clean, fine toilet and bath, no problem with the tv, very helpfull staff, great breakfast, things just worked as they should :)

Location, breakfast, friendly staff, quiet room Awkward hotel layout, very poor shower, uncomfortable bed, breakfast served in a different location across a busy road, did not live up to the pictures and spec. Which was very disappointing, was expensive compared to what we have previously paid for better quality in Glasgow.

Very quiet and was not as bustly as I thought it might be which was brilliant. Also a very good shower and great tea-making facilities. Free wi-fi was also very useful. I was attending a conference at the SECC so the location being approx 15 minutes walk away was fairly convenient. Slightly dated design but this wasn't a big problem. Since I came on business it would have been better if I had a room with a desk and sufficient room for a chair to be placed next to it! However, again for the price, this wasn't a big issue.

It's convenient for transport into Glasgow and Glasgow Airport. There are plenty of cheap eating-places. The service was good, and I was very comfortable. I was annoyed that the centre light in my room was very dim, but there was a bright reading light.

The staff were very welcoming and helpful when we arrived at the hotel. Our room had been upgraded and we were given a room with a beautiful four poster bed which was lovely and very comfortable. Due to no air conditioning and the unseasonably warm weather, our windows needed to be open for comfortable sleeping conditions. There was a wedding party in the hotel, and they (or possibly others) were out on the street sporadically through the night, (possibly to smoke), and were very noisy. The last time I was woken up by this was 3:45AM. This may or may not be normal, but it was our experience.

Room & bathroom was clean enough. Plenty of complimentary tea in room (not just 2 teabags as has become the norm). Smell in hallway (not in room). Street noise (needs double glazing & proper blackout curtains). Grubby old carpet. Semi-functional toilet (had to fiddle with mechanism to flush). Shower didnn'tt work properly (but big bathtub & plenty hot water). Worst of all tho, interior of bldg must have been 5-10C hotter (poss not a big prob in Glasgow) than out & more humid - needed windows open onto noisy street at all times (would benefit greatly from installation of cieling fan). Again, no sheets! Just one of thise smelly, too hot duvets.

The location is wonderful--close to the gallery and great pubs and restaurants! The room we had was nice--tall windows overlooking the bowling green and the park. The service was excellent. The front counter staff went out of their way to help us, and the room was kept immaculate. I would especially like to commend Linda for her excellent service at breakfast! She was always kind and friendly, and as I was travelling with my husband who has Alzheimers Disease, her tactful attention was very much appreciated. I chose the Argyll as the base for a family wedding, and several of our relatives also stayed there on my recommendation. I believe that they were all very happy with the choice! Dr Ann McGuire I am happy to have my comments used in any promotional material My only comment is that Room Two in the Guest House had a slightly musty smell. Easily rectified I am sure.

Clean basic guest house. Great location for our function. I asked for a quiet room but we were on the ground floor at the front. It was very noisy and I didn't get much sleep. If I'd been staying more than one night I would've asked to be moved. The ironing board I borrowed was useless, had something on it that caught my husband's shirt and caused a hole.

We were delighted to find that parking was easy outside the hotel and free at weekends. And also pleased that we had been booked into the hotel as the Guest House directly opposite was being used to accommodate a large party. The only difference was we didn't have to cross the road to get breakfast and we'd happily stay at the Guest House another time. The rooms were not huge but clean and well furnished - although way too much tartan for my liking!!

Staff is very friendly and helpful. We felt like we were very welcome to be there. They kept our luggage because we arrived before check-in time. The staff gave us map of city and gave advice on public transportation. There is phone to call a cab free of charge. Free WiFi for internet access. Housekeeping was silent and kept our room very clean. Breakfast was very good and staff very friendly (especially Linda)! The location is perfect. Near the the University and Gallery/ Museum of Art - view from our bedroom. Beautiful. We just felt very well-taken-care-of. We would definitly come again to this Guest House. We stayed four nights and we loved every moment of our stay! The only thing was that shower system is out-dated and can be dangerous with hot water- extremely hot water when I was trying to figure it out. That was the only thing that was 'negative' Otherwise, this place is very good place to stay at.
