Consisting of 3 Grade II heritage-listed Georgian buildings, the hotel is situated in a pretty tree-lined conservation area only a short walk from the center of the city. Opened as a private hotel in the 1930's by Mr WD Gibbs, the hotel has been owned and operated by owners David and Jill Reynolds for the past 21 years, over which time it has been continually upgraded and now provides a high level of comfort, with every effort being made to make you feel relaxed and at home. Standing in 3 acres of landscaped grounds, with ample parking, the hotel remains a quiet retreat from the bustle of the city of Norwich. A warm and friendly welcome always awaits you. I found the Annesley House Hotel to be very comfortable and very good value for the standard of accommodation it offers. I have stayed there on three occasions and, having tried other hotels and B&B's in Norwich before, decided that Annesley House was easily the best option. So comfortable, luxurious and quiet.

I loved this hotel as it was so very comfortable with windows that you could open wide and adjustable heating - not to mention the really comfy bed. I only had a small single room, but it had everything that I needed to hand and I was perfectly happy with it. The hotel is located in three buildings that are next to eachother and I stayed in the main building. I have no reason to believe that the other buildings would have been any different to stay in. The food was good in the restaurant, and the bar area was very friendly and relaxing. Only stayed for one night, but would have been happier for longer. The price was good, and it was just about the right distance from the town to avoid the normal noise levels of hotels located in the center. Can't speak more highly of the friendly and helpful staff. Thank you Annesley House. One of the better Best Western Experiences, which on the whole are generally good for the 'country house hotel' experience. Single rooms on the small side, but beautifully furnished and equipped.

Friendly helpful staff. Although I had booked a superior room, the cost of breakfast was not included. The cost of drinks in the bar and mini bar were exorbitant.

Friendly staff and comfortable rooms. Food was good and breakfast freshly cooked. Stairs were a little steep in the annexe so would not be suitable if you had mobility problems. However that is the price you pay for a period property.

I was put in a very small room stuffed with furniture, for one of the highest rates in the region. Go to Georgian House instead. I wonder why Best Western linked up with this hotel; it is certainly not must better than any other place in Norwich.

Nice, spacious room with a very comfortable bed. Easy parking. We had a room on the ground floor, and suffered from lots of noise from the room above. Breakfast cost extra and was not great.

I really like staying at the Annesley. The hotel accommodation is quite splendid and it is a most relaxing place to stay. It is quite close to the Town Centre with all its many attractions. The breakfasts are magnificent and the safe tremendously helpful. It is a pity that breakfast is an added cost and not included in the price - just beginning to be a little on the expensive side. It still remains my favourite place to stay in Norwich.

It was relaxing and the restaurant food was excellent. It was good to have a decent sized room and all facilities were in place which was more in line with a greater starred hotel. The bed was a little too soft but at least the pillows were feather so made up for it. The room was too cold the first night as it was 2 degrees outside but the hearing had been switched off. Overall the hotel felt a little cold given the weather outside but once the heating was left on in my room I was able to warm up thoroughly.

Friendly and efficient welcome on arrival. Arrived approx.9pm. The room was cold, but sorted that by turning up the radiator. The room was very business like, it had everything would want including trouser press and iron stored in a very compact cupboard. Although I did not use the hospitality tray, it was very well stocked. Comfortable bed, bathroom well supplied with what should be there. I noticed that the room did not have to be vacated until 11.30am, which suited me very well. Pity more Hotels do not have that. I would have no hesitation to stay again, or to recomment the Hotel. To reach the Bedroom, I had to walk through a linking conservatory, which was freezing. No heating in it. Cold outside and very cold inside.

Unexpectedly good stay - staff were really helpful about my late arrival and early departure and were so polite, welcoming and helpful that I really enjoyed my stay. This is a well run, welcoming place to stay and I enjoyed the walk into the City Centre - you're close enough for a 10-15 minute walk and far enough away not to get any City noise. You are close to the Newmarket Road but this didn't disturb my stay and I had a front room overlooking the main road. Would recommend this hotel as a great base for a City break where you are sure to receive a warm welcome.

Very pleasantly situated and only a short walk into the City. Very clean and comfortable room. I would be happy to stay again if I visited Norwich again. The meals in the restaurant were far too expensive for my Budget.

“Excellent value for money in a great location, near to the football ground, Riverside development and within walking distance of the city centre.Rooms modern and clean. Reasonably priced car park just behind and overnight parking available in front of hotel after daytime restrictions are lifted. Would definitely use the hotel again.” Linda, Haslington Crewe |
