Excellent and friendly staff. Grand Victorian building. Good breakfast and bar meal. Easy walk to town centre and river front. Extremely good value. Minor details only, curtain did not fully cover window, no coat hook for wet coats in room (only in wardrobe). Irvine is not an exciting place but a reasonable base for visiting Ayrshire.

good location and parking only 2 front-of-house staff on duty on arrival. they were trying to wait on tables in restaurant and serve behind bar, hence we waited in vain at reception and had to go and find them. shower poor, awkward head restrictions in bedroom and bathroom. breakfast served in bar area rather than in dining room

The staff was great. Lynne was especially enjoyable to work with. We chose the location to be central for our plans. It had good parking areas if we'd had a car and it was only a block or so off the main street to be able to catch a bus to the nearby towns or a ferry to the Isle of Arran. I think our only complaint was that, being on the top floor in room 7, we had to stand on a chair to see the view. We only had a skylight for a window.

We were attending a funeral locally and wanted somewhere to stay that would be handy for church etc. Annfield House Hotel served that purpose admirably. Would definitely come back but would not want room at top of house!!! Room at top of house ..too many steps for two old codgers to carry luggage etc. Room was very cold throughout stay. No heating on in morning. Irvine roundabout system is MURDER!!!

Beautiful spacious building with spectacular victorian wood carvings. Management and staff were very hospitable and passionate in their commitment to make my stay comfortable. Lovely location and views The poor guy sleeping in the next room had a MAJOR snoring problem. I don't think it would matter what hotel he arrived in - no wall would be thick enough... and this is a victorian house with thick walls. Goodness knows how they could cope with him in a Tavelodge or Premium Inn without evacuating a whole corridor. I did inform the management to make a note should he return. It was too much effort to bring it to the attention of management as I was so tired and did manage to get some sleep.

Room very comfortable, very goodnights sleep in a clean crisp linen bed. The staff were brilliant, the lady who looked after us most of the evening was friendly and very helpful, with great local knowledge. The draft beer in the bar was awful, they need to do something about it!

The food was excellent. We ate in restaurant for evening meal and the daily special was salmon which tasted delicious. Breakfast very good also with very obliging waiter. Our room on the second floor. Decor looked tired in the bedroom and our only view was a chimney pot and tv aerial through a velux window. The bathroom was nice though. I dont know why we got put in here as the hotel seemed empty and our booking form said the.room had views across to Arran? The tv could do with updating it was very old and the digi box perched on top of it was very precarious.

The building was to my taste - a listed building. The evening meal choice was very good and well cooked as was the breakfast, although my husband and myself were seated at a table for four however our adult son was put at a table for four all by himself (found that a bit odd as there was plenty of room for the three of us at the breakfast table as there had been at the table we were given for the evening meal the night before. However the staff were friendly. The double room we had was freezing when we went into the room at 2pm, although seemingly the room had only been vacated that morning. Why not leave the heating on for the few hours between guest leaving and others arriving to take up the room. We did get a heater as we were sitting with our coats on. The small piece about the rooms that we were given stated that there were views of the river, but we were looking out onto the high street and houses. This I don't mind, but don't lie about the views. The hot tap on the bath went on (although the water wasn't ot enough to fill the bath for a hot soak) so it was turned off, but it wouldn't turn off and it took my husband with a towel quite a bit of turning to get the tap to stop running , therefore no soak in the bath. In the morning we had no running water from the hot sink tap at all. My husband had to do without a shave as he wasn't going to shave with cold water! I also object to paying for a room at the start of my stay, especially with the problems we had - the room wasn't worth the money, altough I wasn't offered any sort of part refund and maybe I should have insisted before I left, but you don't want to make a scene. If you have a listed building as a hotel then you must ensure that all is up to standard (windows quite drafty). Quite disappointed. Don't know if I would stay again, but if I did then a different room would be asked for.

Five of us arrived for an over night stay and were warmly greeted and shown to our rooms. The staff were great and couldn't do enough for us.They ordered a taxi for us as we had to go to Saltcoats at night.Nothing was too much trouble.Plenty of choice for breakfast and loads of it.Would stay again if down that way. The is nothing to dislike.

The quality of all the staff we met including the very nice owner. The bar food was just about the best we've come across in all our travels and they are extensive. Adjacent to the town and good parking at the hotel. The room being so high meant that the lighting was poor, larger bulbs would resolve. When visitors known arrival perhaps the heating should be put on sooner.
