Standard room in annexe is very large and comfortable (210). Adjustable heater worked very well. Bathrooms again large and nicely tiled.room overlooking carpark is very quiet. Waitresses in dining room are very nice helpful with menus and chatty. Pleasant reception staff very efficient. We were offered an upgrade as room wasn't perfect but we declined-this time! Very quiet considering the number of weddings. Gravel surface in carpark is very dirty if wet or raining. Our shower cubicle was a bit grimy with mildew on seals. Wall had splashes and skirtings were dusty after a (recent) change of heater. Holes in walls filled but not repainted. Lack of some good lighting for women to do makeup & hair. Wines by the glass very expensive £11 for a glass of rioja! Red wine glasses too small and overfilled- not expected in a rosette restaurant -ok in Harvester pub!!

Good location, nice staff. Financial supplements/ ridiculous profit margins galore!!! Examples: £7 for a 750 ml bottle of beer (the same beer costs £2.50 at my local Tesco); £17.50 for breakfast with a £2.50 supplement if you want smoked salmon (out of a packet) and scrambled eggs!! (Yes that's £20 for breakfast!) £1 "charity donation" added to my bill without my consent; credit card payment charge added to my bill (how many business travelers pay any other way?- Must be raking it in!). In summary- a total rip-off!! I will avoid this hotel chain like the plague in future. There's far better value for money out there.

Breakfast and I guess the restuarant in general although I eat in the bar Service if you weren't in the restuarant was a little un-attentive, room cold, but in fairness it is an old building and looks great

Well located and the staff were helpful and cooperative The food in the restaurant was disappointing: the menu looked interesting but the food lacked taste and didn't live up to the significant price tag - many Christmas parties in which may have influenced the quality.

The staff were nice and tried to deal with the problem the best they could despite the terrible hotel. This hotel is heavily overrated. If all you are looking for is a place that reminds of your grandma's house, than perhaps this hotel is for you. This place welcomes you with unpleasant odors reminiscent of the permeating funk of furniture left to rot. As you wonder the dizzying hall walls to your room, you are met by yet more unfamiliar and nauseating smells. Is it something in the walls rotting away? Or is it the ancient carpet my feet uncomfortably soak into as I walk? I refrain from looking over my shoulder fearing I'll see my own footprints in my wake. While I must admit the interior is nicely ornate, there is little else that pleases me of this hotel. Between the stink that wafts throughout the complex, the furniture more suitable for disposal and the extremely overpriced food, little adds to a satisfying experience. Even the 3rd party internet service is unreliable and costs a small fortune (10 GBP/day). The rooms are respectively modern but don't expect to get clean sheets. Mine were severely stained the entire week I stayed. Even when left exposed for cleaning, they left the same sheet on my bed as if to say "you aren't getting anything better". The heated towel rack never heated my towel. The iron and ironing board were older than I. The modern looking sink could not be turned on without getting yourself wet.

The breakfast. The room was hot and wet, and with no air conditioned. We also find two giant spiders on the bed.

Always welcoming. Excellent Breakfasts (one of the few hotels where the poached eggs arrive dry on your plate instead of swimming in water which seems to be the norm in most hotels regardless of star rating and reputation). Rooms are good in the annexe but excellent in the main house. The 150 yard walk to the main house if billeted in the annexe and it rains.

The check in was formal and rather cold, but I suppose polite enough. The room was large and comfortable. Upon arrival one of the lamps had a blown bulb, but after ringing reception this was solved within half an hour or so. At check-in, it was not offered to take our bags to our room. We had to ask. Between reception and our room there was coarse gravel and it was raining, making it uncomfortable to wheel our large suitcase there.

The rom was very comfortable with good working facilities. The meal was also very good with attentive staff. The car park was in a very poor condition and as it had been raining heavily there was large puddles everywhere which mean you had to carry your suitcase rather than be able to use the wheels. Also for a lady in high heels could have resulted in an accident. Seriously needs addressing.

attractive main building, good but expensive food. my husband walks with difficulty, we informed the hotel and were placed in an annex with a outside walk to all meals and the main hotel and consquently got wet .The short cut door was shut on some occasions and reception unmanned much of the time. No fridge , free wifi,no safe in the room, expensive phones, credit charge surcharge--poor for a 4* hotel. The resteraunt was full we were not advised to pre book.
