A very busy hotel which was well staffed. It is ideally situated for many of the attractions of Edinburgh. Bedroom was spacious and provided all that was needed for or stay. Quality of the breakfast was excellent. There was a problem with the air conditioning in the room which was promptly put right after speaking to reception. There was no means of heating in the bathroom, heated towel rail or warm air vent so it was rather cold.

Amazing location right off princes street and 2 minutes walk to the station. Rooms were modern in design and very comfortable. Staff at the hotel were very friendly - try the haggis bon bons at the bar!

Situation within the city, very convenient for the railway station and comfort of the room. The menu was overpriced, especially breakfast, otherwise no complaints.

Loved it!!! Booking.com gave us fab rates and booked a 'Junior suite' - wow. What a treat - gorgeous room and so clean! The staff are lovely and the hotel is on the doorstep of town. Not a complaint, the gym was being updated and a spa is being installed - a bonus.

The location was very good and old town easily accessible. We were impressed with the gym and spa facilities. Expense of breakfast. Rooms are quite noisy

Dinner in the restaurant the meal and service were both very good. The reception staff and concierge were not friendly and not very interested in providing service. I requested a receipt after having booked with bookings.com but the hotel did not provide this and also said they could not confirm my rate upon check in.

Location The extra price we paid for a 'Superior' room got us a packet of Jelly Beans and a dvd player in the room. Size wise, it was exactly the same as a 'Standard' room.Very dissapointing.

The hotel is conveniently located and rooms are clean. The hotel is just 5 minutes from the main shopping area of Princes Street and 10 minutes walk from the royal mile but the road the hotel is on is quite isolated and there is no atmosphere in the hotel at all, we just went back to shower and sleep, it is definitely not the place you would like to lounge around, very boring and decor is quite sterile.

The lady working at the bar was very good and the room itself was outstanding. Very well decorated and luxurious. I did not like the fact that firstly the hotel took the money from my account without any notice leaving me overdrawn and my card being blocked. When I have used Booking.com before I have paid when I arrived at venue not 3 weeks before! Also when I got to the hotel the room was not ready - we were told to come back at 2.30 - we did - only to be told not ready till 3pm - we were annoyed as no apology or recompense made for our inconvenience and I had paid £200 a night! I dont expect that. Also we wanted breakfast in bed on our last morning and filled out the form only for this not to have been taken from our door. We rang in the morning to complain and nothing was done to compensate us or even offered and that was that. This left a very bad impression on us and we wont be going back and I wont be recommending it. Service was appalling!

I thought the hotel was beautiful and so central. The staff were extremely helpful, we had a lovely receptionist and the young man who worked in the bar was great. The only thing that I was disappointed with was the swimming pool. I paid a lot to stay at this hotel because my partner is a keen swimmer and it was his birthday. But I was extremely unhappy that it was so small. Wish the rate had included breakfast!!

Lovely hotel, friendly staff, it's in a great location at the end of Princes St, and close to the railway station. Considering the location it was very quiet in our room, and we weren't disturbed by traffic noise. Bed was a bit short for my husband (6'1) but otherwise we had a lovely stay.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were comfy, modern and very clean. Good location. Close to the centre but far enough away to avoid the noise of a busy weekend in Edinburgh. Restaurant was great value for breakfast and dinner. The hotel is beautiful, but beware. Part of the hotel is a listed building and as such the first room we went to did not have any double glazing. This doesn't help with the noise or heating!

The location was good, so central and very close to the bus station. The bed was super comfy, bathroom was very nice also, liked the large separate shower. The complimentary biscuits, water and tea and coffee making facilities were appreciated too. It was also really nice to be able to use the pool, sauna and steam room and this enhanced the overall experience of staying in the hotel. The pool was a bit on the chilly side so it didn't encourage us to linger too long there and the sauna was very small.

The staff, particularly the concierge were extremely helpfull. The rooms had everything that you could wish for and the cleaning staff were never in view but the room was always cleaned when you returned. Overall, the hotel was more than we expected as we went on a special offer rate but I would have gladly paid the full rate for the proximity of the hotel to the city and would have no hesitation in recommending Apex Waterloo Place Hotel to anyone who wants to visit Edinburgh

The location of the Hotel is very good. The Staff were excellent. So friendly and they went out of their way to make our stay a very pleasurable one. wish we had had a better view on the other side of the hotel as asked for on my request on booking and that the party in the building opposite at the back hadn't kept us awake until 3am! Otherwise enjoyed our stay.

My compliments to the manager who promptly upgraded me to an executive room when I asked politely about the non availablity of dvd player in my room. The room I had was spacious, comfortable and modern. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hotel, although I unfortunately couldn't use the dap facilities! Will definitely visit again.
